Man I LOVED your Dude Love match against Austin. It was a pure awesome brawl with chaotic, unpredictable elements. If I remember correctly that was the first WWE PPV I ordered and I ordered more after that because of this and other matches, some including you. Not enough people give you credit to the contribution you made during WWE's 2nd rise to the top of pop culture. Not to mention Dude Love was a genius, hilarious character. I don't think anyone will ever be able to pull off 4 wrestling personas as believable and as well as you have. You being in the Royal Rumble a bunch of times with your different gimmicks was so entertaining. I can see why you are sick of Hell in a Cell, regardless of how awe-inspiring it was to watch. I have never seen a sport where something doesn't go as planned like that and you should have been taken to medical help immediately but you INSISTED on finishing the match. We already had our money's worth by that point and you truly went that extra crazy mile to give the fans the absolute best you could give them. That was the 2nd WWE PPV I ordered and I will never forget the shock and awe that match provided as a young new wrestling fan. My mother's attitude of "it's fake" absolutely changed after witnessing that live. Unbelievable. At the same time, you have contributed so many matches that it must be tiresome to be "typecasted" so to say because of that one match. I think it was your biggest match in some ways but you've had just as good and better matches before and after. Orton vs. Cactus at Backlash was so amazing. Not only did you help Orton prove he could step up to solidify himself as a big player but you proved to the fans that Foley was indeed still GOOD, actually GREAT. Definately up there in one of my favorite matches of all time. It was brutal and the story behind it was so powerful. No doubt you gave Orton that rub he needed and he has since blossomed into arguably the biggest player in the game right now. I think of Cena vs. Orton at Wrestlemania and I see shades of Austin vs. Rock at WM17, both in the height of their popularity. Big face vs. face matches don't happen much anymore and it's MONEY IN THE BANK. No pun intended. :) You vs. Edge at WM was definately the true defining WM moment you were looking for since you were a kid in the Garden. I had never actually seen someone go through a flaming table before and now it's an iconic moment etched in WrestleMania history. Me and my friends MARKED OUT like we were new wrestling fans allover again. You and Edge have always had good chemistry (and Christian and Angle) since before they were even huge names. To see Edge as the main event player he was destined to be against the Hardcore Legend in top form was one hell of a pleasure to watch. I gotta say I am surprised that Cactus vs. HHH at the Rumble wasn't on there. It was an amazing match that I will never forget. You brought the best out of Triple H and by the time your feud was over with him, you had helped establish him from new main eventer to top-tier main eventer. Also, I'll never forget your Empty Arena match with the Rock during Halftime Heat. "NEEDS MORE SALT!" You and Rock had so many matches in such a short time but they were ALL great. In fact, it's funny because I don't think the Rock had any better chemistry whether teaming up with or fighting against than you. You guys were truly the "Odd Couple" of the attitude era and you made it work so well. 7.4 RAW rating doesn't lie. I wasn't watching wrestling in the early to mid 90s and I am definately going to check out your earlier matches, especially with STINGER. And I gotta say that your match against Abyss was out of this world and in my mind at least considered a dream match I never thought would happen in a million years. Abyss reminded me of a hybrid Kane-Mankind and you two beat the crap out of eachother. There's just too many GOOD Mick Foley matches to cover and so many I haven't even seen yet from your earlier years. You put your body through hell and I sure as hell hope that you and Flair are cool because as much as I love Flair, you were a ton more than a "glorified stuntman." Can't forget about ring psychology and chemistry. You are a glorified WRESTLER through and through! Thanks Mick!
Mick, you once again hit the nail on the head. Whether it's Democrats or Republicans, the majority of them have truly lost sight that they work for US, not for their own selfish interests. I knew before Obama even won the Presidency that it was very far-fetched to think that he could get both sides of the aisle to support what's right for America. When you have a declared party in this day and age, the other party is going to go against you and make your agenda hell no matter how many good intentions you have. It's sickening that nothing can get done in Washington because instead of actually working together, it seems to be politicians' mission to just smear and work against someone who doesn't have their same views. What happened to middle ground, does it just not exist anymore? I've always thought that someone who aligns their self to the PEOPLE and not to a PARTY would be the best solution for this country's progress. Unfortunately, even that won't help until Senate and House fill up with more Independents. I feel like both Democrats and Republicans have let us down over and over again by now. It's like chocolate vs. vanilla, why can't we get some strawberry in there? The more ideas and independent thinkers who are willing to put political pride aside and WORK TOGETHER, the better. Of course, it doesn't help that most of these politicians work for corporations, lobbyists and other politicians these days. Kickbacks and side business seems to be what fuels the majority of the politicians that are supposed to serve us, not themselves. With the media, they only make things worse these days. They're all aligned with their own party's beliefs. FOX News is fair and balanced? I chuckle every time they say it. "We report, you decide." aka "We tell it like we wanna tell it and you're going to believe it." Same with a bunch of other networks on BOTH sides of the political party spectrum. We have Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press but a lot of people take advantage of that and put their spin or fail to do their research on a vast multitude of topics. It's ironic that the internet (for now) is the only true way to get unfiltered no-spin information so you can decide for yourself. That's why I love blogs so much now; it's WE the PEOPLE debunking false stories and reporting ALL the facts so WE the PEOPLE can think for ourselves and decide whatever we want to decide on issues. If more of the general public can get on board, we might have a chance to take our country back from these corrupt politicians and corrupt media "reporters." Can't wait for your new book. To be honest, I still need to catch up on the last couple of books. Been so busy I haven't made time for them! Don't take this the wrong way, but it's going to be an honor to have your book in my bathroom. Moveon.org needs to move on because sites that abuse and shape the news to what they want it to be are only detriments to our free society. Betray Us, what a load of crap and total disrespect for someone who has a lot on their plate. He didn't chose to go to war, he's just trying to handle it as safely as possible for our troops. And I do not know of him THAT well and maybe he has made a few mistakes or bad judgments but I believe the only entity that can't do that is GOD. So sick of media. So sick of politicians. We need REAL reform, God willing.
Mick, this is why you're awesome. As a father, I can't tolerate the thought of kids being abused or taken advantage of--especially by their own parents! It's not the kids' fault that they were brought into such an environment and the way the parents treat/raise them makes them who they are as adults. The majority of bad people in this world were once kids with parents that treated them like garbage. I am of shaking my head in disgust far too often when I read or hear about these poor children that just aren't treated right. Why can't they just give them to an adoption agency or better suited family member instead of putting their kids through absolute hell? Absolutely sickening. You've shown in your well documented life that you are nothing short of a great father and I was especially moved with your match against the Rock at the Rumble. You put yourself through a lot to be entertain like only you can and a lot of people don't realize that your family was right there and it was hard for them to see. Heck, you didn't even realize it at the time. You handled it so well and my respect for your personal character had well exceeded my respect for your wrestling character when that happened. This was well before I even had kids. You're truly a class act and it's breathtaking to see you set aside your valuable time for such a great cause. I ain't trying to play the kiss-ass but the internet is so cynical and I feel like not enough so-called "fans" truly appreciate and respect what you have done and continued to do--not just for wrestling but as a humanitarian and overall good person. It's sad that there aren't enough of those in the world and you truly do make a difference. Thank you for letting me know about this organization and I'll try to set some time aside with my hectic life to help the cause. If only the world could dedicate just a small amount of time to such an unselfish, noble cause I think we'd be so much better off. These kids, however young or old, don't realize that there are so many people who support them and they don't have to live with the crap that they're going through that does absolutely no good to their lives as kids or when they turn into adults. And all of us, parents or not, need to take the initiative to take appropriate action when we see or find out that something is just plain NOT RIGHT. Sorry, I wasn't trying to hijack your topic or butter your toast. I'm just on the same page as you when it comes to things like this. We gotta do our part for humanity and make sure these abusive/neglectful parents don't turn another innocent kid into a messed up shell of a soul. Thank you, Mick. Thank you.
