Apart from the utter disgrace that the BBC has become and the clearly contrived nature of the Egyptian interview with Gilad Shalit, the other thing that struck me was the boasting about 54% believe the BBC is trustworthy and 58% believe it is accurate. I seem to recall a time when almost everyone, at home and abroad, trusted the BBC. These figures are not evidence of achievement but rather of a terrible decline.
