Count me in as one of those who was green before it was cool. Been riding my bike to work for years, 25 minutes each way, winter and summer. Have no use for a car, but I don't know whether my efforts will have a positive impact or not. I've read that because all that fresh air and exercise will likely extend my life by about nine years, all the energy saved by not driving a car will be consumed simply because I'll be alive that much longer.
