There is no other feeling, other than pure surprise, the moment you open your front door, and a court process server is verifying your name and handing you official divorce papers. Overwhelming surprise, or is it an expected moment? Regardless of your feelings at that very moment, it is a dreadful day, it is the first day of your divorce. Continue reading

Thank you Equestrian Life (.com) and Happy Birthday to My Mom :) When I Am An Old Horsewoman I shall wear turquoise and diamonds, And a straw hat that doesn’t suit me And I shall spend my social security on white wine and carrots, And sit in my alleyway of my barn And listen to my horses breathe. I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night And ride the old bay gelding, Across the moonstruck meadow If my old bones will allow And when people come to call, I will smile and nod As I walk past the gardens to the barn and show instead the flowers growing inside stalls fresh-lined with straw. I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair as if it were a jewel And I will be an embarrassment to ALL Who will not yet have found the peace in being free to have a horse as a best friend A friend who waits at midnight hour With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes For the kind of woman I will be When I am old. -Author Patty Barnhart Photo Credit: Just My Tidbits Equestrian Life Facebook is one click away Equestrian Life on You Tube is one click away Equestrian Life on the Web, click here Continue reading

Queen Latifah interviewed basketball legend Lisa Leslie recently. Lisa shared the 7 P's - words of wisdom from her mother: Proper Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance Personally, I thought this was the best part of the interview. Truly these are words to live by and are the words that have lead this incredible woman to where she is today. Thanks to the Queen Latifah You Tube channel, you can watch the other portions of her interview below (see links). All images are from google or The Queen Latifah Show. Continue reading

For days now the kitchen sink has been a great bother. I suppose, living in a 1950's cabin style home in the mountains has it's perks, believe me, this is not one of them. My husband is wonderful at all issues regarding fixing things at home. He is wise and wonderful and saves us so much money. Well, in this case, the landlord saves money. We have been fussing with the drain for several days now. Full well knowing that the pipe that is clogged is old and has junk caught up in there over many years of use. The dishes were building up yesterday and the sinks were dirty and messy and full of water. The water would drain, but slowly, ever so slowly. This was becoming beyond gross. I just couldn't "wait" for the drain to decide when it would allow water through. A speedy telephone call to my husband at work, in a panic, "please bring home draino or roto rooter!" Hours later he showed up with the biggest $9.00 bottle of drain opening liquid he could find. He too was tired of the sink and it's issues. Well, the next morning we woke to find that this "penetrating tough clog gel" didn't really work. Sadly we began the day all over with hot water, plunging and waiting. On my counter sat a box of baking soda and a bottle of vinegar, .... and I started thinking... Sometimes my thinking leads to disaster, in this case.... In a pool full of water in two clogged sinks, side by side, I slowly poured baking soda and watched it slide down the drain, moments later I poured vinegar and within seconds white foam began to bubble everywhere. It was rather dramatic and worrysome. Within minutes, after a few blups out of the drain..... I RELEASED THE CLOG! CLEARED THE DRAIN! AND WAS VERY PROUD OF MYSELF. THE END Continue reading

Over the Christmas month, Ecco Shoes on Facebook had a contest. Well, I won! I'll spare you the details. I am so in love with my *prize* of the small Collie purse from Ecco USA The package took "forever" to arrive at our home. When it did, I was never more happier. You would of thought I won the lotto. Opening the box on my sewing/cutting table... anticipation as I fuss with the taped box. Got an incredible whiff of leather oozing out of the bag. Yum. She sat there looking at me and I looking at her... what a beautiful bag! We belong together.... My little handbag and I go everywhere together. We are a perfect match. When a woman has a beautiful real leather handbag, she feels like a million bucks. And when she feels like a million bucks, everyone around her is having a good day too! The End Continue reading

I've been shopping at Garnet Hill before the internet took over my shopping needs. Their high quality clothing and household goods are pricey, but have lasted me many years of use (at least a decade). I learned at a very young age, "BUY QUALITY" and you will never be unhappy with what you have in your closets and around your home. Quality made clothing not only feels good on your body, it will last longer through wear and tear. I recommend buying from their Clearance section at all times. Unless it is something you can't live without, now. I Love Garnet Hill! Click on the RED link below and buy yourself something nice! GARNET HILL CLEARANCE SECTION Continue reading
