Hundreds of stamps and accessories from the 2011-2012 catalogs are retiring and this is your chance to get them before they're gone. The stamp sets on this list are available through May 31, but when the Retired Accessories List is shared on April 25, many products will only be available while supplies last. You may notice that this list is a lot longer than in years past. That's because Stampin' Up! is transitioning to a new catalog schedule! This year the new annual core catalog will be available on June 1st. Two seasonal catalogs (they aren't mini any more!) will... Continue reading

Before I was introduced to rubber stamping and card making, I did not consider myself to be creative. What makes someone creative? To me being creative means making something beautiful or more useful. I can be creative by making a beautiful card or figuring out a new way to use something I already have. Reasons to Live Creatively Creativity makes us happy! Creativity makes us healthy. The more we use our creativity, the more creative we will be. Some people like to create with paper, some digitally and some like to combine the two. I'm mostly a create with paper kind of gal, but I am intrigued by digital scrapbooking and love the idea of it. Here are some pages that were made by my friend Ginny Miller in My Digital Studio. So cute! If you'd like to give digital scrapbooking a try, you can now download a free 30-day trial of My Digital Studio. Continue reading

Yesterday I shared about how I taught my daughter Rachel how to make a card that looks good. Of course her younger sister had to get in on the stamping too. Here's the card that Emily made: She's been eyeing up my Sweet Shop Designer Stickers ever since I got them, so she chose to use an ice cream cone as her main image. I did help her put the pieces together, but she picked the colors and ribbon by herself. Pretty good for a 5 year old! Supplies Used: Sweet Shop Designer Stickers Big Shot Die-Cut Machine Labels Collection... Continue reading

This weekend Rachel, my 7 year old, asked me if I would teach her how to make a card. I told her that she already knew how to make cards - she makes them all the time! She responded that she wanted to learn how to make cards that look good, like mine. How nice that she thinks my cards look good and that I can teach her something! I had her pick a card that she liked and said I would teach her how to make it. The card she chose was this Cherry card from my March Virtual... Continue reading

Yes, I am still alive! I've had a crazy busy week with spotty internet access and just haven't found the time to blog. Yesterday I had a friend over to stamp and this is one of the cards we made. The Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder was our most used tool of the day! Lots of texture on this card! The Rich Razzleberry flower is from the Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit. I never would have bought this kit, but it was given to me and I love it! It's got pre-printed flowers in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors... Continue reading

This is one of those cards where I was just playing around with a couple of techniques. I love how the embossed butterflies turned out. I stamped the butterflies in VersaMark ink, added clear emboss powder and heated. They just seem to delicately fly off the card. Beautiful! The oval was embossed with the Designer Oval Frame Folder and the Big Shot. After embossing, I tore the edges and sponged both the edges and the raised dots with Crumb Cake ink. The butterfly is from the Elementary Elegance stamp set. You can't buy it, but you can get it for... Continue reading

I love the cherry stamp from the Mouthwatering stamp set, but this weekend I had a heck of a time getting a good stamped image from it. Bold stamps can be tricky to work with sometimes, so here are a few tips for getting a good stamped image from a bold stamp: Rough up the bold surface of the stamp with your fingernail or a fine sanding block. Ink Pads work better than markers. Markers tend to just smear the ink around on bold images. For the cherries on the card below, I inked up the cherries with an ink... Continue reading

When I first started stamping, all the words on my cards were stamped at an angle. Why? I could never get them perfectly straight, so I stamped them on an angle so it looked purposeful instead of like a mistake. Then I was introduced to the Stamp-a-ma-jig. The what? The Stamp-a-ma-jig. It has a funny name, but it is my favorite stamping tool ever. Watch the Video below to see how it works. Click here to get your Stamp-a-ma-jig. Continue reading

Happy Valentine's Day! Here are the Valentine cards that my girls made to give to their classmates today. Rachel wanted to give Kit Kats and she chose to put them on a square of Real Red card stock. Emily gave SweetTart suckers that she threaded onto a heart made with the biggest scallop heart from the Hearts Collection Framelit Dies. We punched the holes with the Crop-a-Dile. Leave a comment and let us know... When you were a kid, what was your favorite candy to get on Valentine's Day? Continue reading

I am totally in love with the Sweet Shop Products in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. My favorite? Scented embossing powder!! The scented embossing powder comes in three scents - vanilla, melon and cherry. It's clear, so you can use ink colors to coordinate with your scent. Of course it coordinates beautifully with the Mouthwatering Stamp Set. I could go on and on about the Jelly Bean Brads and Baker's Twine in fun colors, but I think you should just check it out for yourself! Shop for Sweet Shop Products Now! P.S. Don't forget that you get to pick... Continue reading

Oh my. How yummy do those look? This is the Tuesday Trigger over on the Moxie Fab World blog and it has me just drooling. Thankfully paper has no calories... well it might, but I don't plan on eating it. Anyway, I was inspired by the colors and layout of these little yummies, as well as the little sprinkles on top. Here's what I made... I added texture to the Early Espresso card stock so that it would look "cakey" and sprinkled a few little pearls on top. Supplies Used: Stamps: Elementary Elegance Stamp Set *Sale-a-Bration exclusive - get it... Continue reading
