Dear family and friends I wanted a country wedding. I wanted to get married in a rough and simple ‘klipkerkie’ on a farm, and have a late Tuscan lunch outside at long tables under trees, with family and friends. I wanted buckets of flowers and rice instead of confetti. I wanted matching rings and a flowy dress and flowers in... Continue reading

Social media for churches (or any religious group)
Should my church or group have a social media presence? Social Media is for celebrities and large companies and the youth, right? Wrong! Small local companies and organisations with a limited, local market, can find social media a very powerful tool in their marketing strategy. Even a church can reach its congregation and community very well, by using Facebook and... Continue reading

An (almost) untold story
I was about 12-ish. I standard 5, I think. An early teen. Young. Innocent. We were on holiday in Rome - our whole family. We were staying in a hotel. We had breakfast downstairs that morning. I think there was some kind of display in the lobby. Easter eggs, or something. My family was spending some time walking through it.... Continue reading

Hi Mac
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I have been a bad blogger lately, and your comment reminded me of why i started blogging.
We are approaching the 10 year anniversary of Ronnie's death. It does get easier, and the pain gets less, but there are still situations that we will always miss him.
Condolences on your brother's death.
Ronnie Janse van Rensburg - died 19 April 2002
today marks 8 years since ronnie died. for those who do not know me well: ronnie was my husband, and father of my son francois. he died in an aeroplane crash on friday, 19 April 2002, at wonderboom airport, near pretoria. we had been married 16 years. he was 39 years and 5 days old. he was ...

Sean is still wearing those braces! We are hoping that they come off soon, and looking forward to a beautiful smile!

today sean went from this: to this: via this: and is it my imagination, or is there fluff on that upper lip? of course, the whole evening it was rather painful. but it will get better, and soon his cute little face will look completely different. ps. ugh. my blog is acting funny....
Imperfect poem..
In the dark early morning hours my mind, like an overladen ship, wanders off course and visits unscheduled ports - Doubt, Worry, Sadness, Hurt, Anger and takes on dangerous cargo that makes it list and roll, in danger of capsizing. I have to hand over the rudder, let my Captain take control, for He knows my ship's true course. He... Continue reading

Really, Pick n Pay?
I received this email over the weekend, from Pick n Pay. It was a Valentines Day promo: Really, Pick n Pay? Gifts for HER: flowers (R99,95), DVDs (from R49,99) body care products gift pack (R64,99) and assorted chocolates. Gifts for HIM: iPad2 (from R4999), PSP (R1199), Blackberry Curve (R1599) and assorted chocolates. Is it because men deserve more? Or because... Continue reading

wow! thanks for the lovely and encouraging comments. they make me feel loved and inspired. and a little embarrassed for neglecting the blogging.
Why i do this blogging thing...
I have always been a writer. No, not an author, as in someone who has written a book, but a writer, as in someone who writes. As a teenager I was a prolific letter writer, and people said that I should write books. When I was 19 and unmarried, and discovered that I was pregnant – with that wond...

hi Stef! i am also a bad commenter. i often pop into blogs, like yours, and read several posts at a time, back to the last post that i read at the last visit. many visits are on my phone. so going out of a post to comment, is often a bit of a hassle.
i know this is not good, though. we need to get comments, and we need to leave comments.
