aka Jaime - I appreciate the creative side of life
Interests: Thank you for sharing your creative wonderful ideas with me. I find reading blogs very inspiring and get much joy from taking your suggestions and applying them to my own life. Maybe one day I will be brave enough to take the plunge into keeping my own blog. You are all so open, honest and generous with your posts and I couldn't help thinking how unfair it is of me not let you in a little and tell you about me. So here is my updated profile! Things I adore Jane Austen, my frizzle bantam chicken trio, Mr Smoked Cheese, cooking using home grown produce, African drumming, hand sewing, knitting in front of a wood fire, my cat Belle & the starry sky

Looks like I got well enough to check in here just in time. I have everything in common with Miss Clara and now have cravings for a cupcake. Love the new banner I would imagine you have been dreaming in code lately. Very fab!

Hi Meg, I truly think you and your business is fantastic but 3am is just a wee bit to early for me. Very disappointed as the new book looks fantastic and would have loved to get the scoop!

our happy place
"Let's go to the river." All it takes are those words, coming out of one of our mouths, and we get happy. In the back seat, little arms pretend like they're throwing rocks and twigs into the water, accompanied by delighted hoots and hollers. The walk to the little "beach" is long - not...
What a wonderful and very practical idea which could became a precious keepsake in the future. I reckon this could also be a good personal touch for wrapping a small gift doubling as part of the present.

Courage and a muslin
I've been wanting to sew clothes for myself for some time now. When I first started sewing, that's what I made - a-line skirts, dresses, jumpers. I wasn't afraid of cutting fabric one bit. I was also a teenager with a very different body than I have now, if you catch my drift. In the past few ye...
You could do a "huckleberry finn" themed 2nd birthday with fishing rods, picnic lunch, straw hats, making little rafts they release in the water could be super cute fun. It must be lovely to have such a precious place so close to escape to.

I recently picked up some seed packets of kale more out of curioursity then anything else as I had never heard of such a thing. She said it was a bit like lettuce and was I was thinking of growing it and worst case I would feed it to my chooks. Just wondering what you do with it?
The Week That Was.
During the past week: - Dan finished up his neurology rotation. And, effectively crossed neurology off his list of possible future specialties. - I found myself very relieved to see the list of possible future specialties shortened, even if just by one. - The cat learned how to open the ba...

You might consider getting the blog printed in book form through somewhere like blurb in celebration. Looking forward to continuing to hear about sprouts, kittens, papery goodness and all things you!

Library Monday: Mud Pies and Other Recipes.
I believe the subject of mud and what a very large part of my life it becomes during the months some people call "spring" has been well covered here. So, I was more than pleased when a reader, Jaime, suggested that I check out Mud Pies and Other Recipes by Marjorie Winslow. Do you know ...

I was so upset this weekend when one of my little cats brought in a darling brown tiny bird which I promptly rescued and let out. Unfortunetly it hid in the bushes and I was unable to see for certain that it could fly not too much later I spotted my other cat having it for dinner. I really don't mind the cats catching and eating mice but it breaks my heart and makes me feel so guilty when they eat little birds. Just wondering if you have come across this with your barn cats and how you deal with it?

another interruption
Want to see some little peeks at what I'm working on at the moment? I made those teeny-weeny-squeeny buttons today, and almost squealed with excitement when I'd finished them. I would have if Theo hadn't been asleep next to me. But sleep was good - I had a productive day. I made them from mill...
The wee felt book would be a perfect activity for doing at a book themed party like the one I saw over at Amelies House in Feb. I of course grabbed my copy of Alphabet glue and can't wait to get cracking with my nieces this coming school holidays.

I have two new hobbies
Taking pictures of small dogs and cute granddaughters and Picnik. Luckily I have agreeable subjects. OK, so she's not always agreeable. The four-legged guys, they're easy. I just lay on the grass with my camera and snap away. Good grief, is he funny or what? After, I don't ...

Mud Season.
As the Spring Equinox approaches, we Vermonters are nearing a seasonal shift of a less well-known variety; mud season is upon us. I'm not sure how many of you know this already, but Vermont is widely considered to have five seasons, rather than the commonly accepted four. It goes like this: ...
