Ha! I've not seen anyone with plastic pants, yet...but the green hair, well.... :-) It's been a blast so far, and I'm hoping to share more soon! Thanks for commenting, Tyler!
Reflections on Week 1 @AMP_Agency
Since so many folks have been asking me how week one went in my new job at AMP Agency, I thought I'd share with you, as well, just how great it went! I feel like a kid in a candy store! What a week it was! I knew that joining an agency was going to be interesting and different, and would pres...
Thanks, Trisha! Things are going so well, it' shard to believe! I'm having a blast, working with great national brands, and have a great team of folks, as well! So thankful for the opportunity!

Mike,
Thanks so much! It's always rewarding to learn that you've helped someone else along the way by sharing your experiences, and I'm so glad I've been able to share what I've worked on in the hopes of helping others.
I'm a firm believer in the power of networking and collaboration and I sure don't have it all figured out, so I need the conversations and collaboration to keep me moving in the right direction, and appreciate the opportunity to have them with folks like you.
Please stay in touch and let me know if there's ever anything I can do to help!
~Jamie
One door closes, and another one opens. Leaving @EMCcorp, heading to @AMP_Agency
Many of you who know me likely already know this, but yesterday was my last day at EMC as their Manager of Enterprise Social Media Engagement Strategy. Leaving was a hard decision, but it was the right decision for me, at the right time. I’ve been with the company for five years, and it’s bee...
Walter,
So great to hear from you! Congratulations on your exciting new adventure! I had heard about this from Axel and Marita - shame on me for not digging deeper and seeing you're involved, as well! So exciting! Looking forward to continuing to follow all your great work, and looking forward to staying in touch!

Claire,
Wow. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. I'm honored and humbled to be among folks like yourself and so many others that have helped to pave the way to social business. The journey is just beginning and I find myself getting more and more excited by the possibilities that lie before us. So many inspiring stories and we've only just scratched the surface. So glad and thankful to be on this journey with you.

A little social media marketing helps EMC Break Records
Last week, in case you hadn’t heard, EMC launched a record 41 products. You can view the Record Breakers simulcast replay on EMC.com, if you’d like. But, I’m not here to talk to you too much about the product side of things – I’m no product expert although I think that there are some awesome n...
@visorstuff - Thanks for the great comments! Not sure on the seeding, as I don't do anything like that on my end. I can tell you that things went so successfully because we had all of the right folks engaged - the folks who created the videos, the EMC Community Network folks, the blogger programs folks. It was sort of like the perfect storm where it all came together! :-)

@Dan - Thanks so much! Very busy indeed, but couldn't have done it without out all awesome people that were involved from all angles.

Ha! You are too funny, Pie! It was interesting in that it was a musical score - something I've personally never heard from Trent Reznor before. I've always been a huge fan of his musical talent and particularly the way he manipulates sounds, and I've gotta say - the soundtrack was worth it, for sure! Trent never disappoints ;-)
Mixed Feelings on The Social Network : A Movie Review
My husband and I went to see "The Social Network" this past weekend. Admittedly, I had mixed feelings about the movie. When he mentioned that he wanted to see the movie, I wrinkled my nose and sighed an "Oh no....Really?" Turns out he was most interested in the movie more because of it's sound...
Hi Walter,
Great question re: internal vs. external community approach and the answer is yes, to some degree. We do have a bit more rigorous process for the external communities to get up and running because they are the public face of EMC. Typically a bit more planning and longer lead time to launch are both factors for the external communities, as well as the need for an executive sponsor/stakeholder who supports the initiative.
Re: new folks who doubt that they can contribute - the answer is YES! We have a variety of ways to approach that, but generally start with some hands-on 1x1 time to understand their pain points, fears, interests, goals, etc. and then go from there. Really, for us, it's all about demonstrating through previous examples and success stories, as well as a lot of coaching to increase comfort and confidence for folks.
Our internal community, EMC|ONE, provides the perfect place for people to "get their toes wet" before they engage in the external space, whether it be on our on-domain community network or via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. We're all about practicing and increasing confidence.
Cheers,
Jamie
General Adoption Techniques for Social Media and Community
We’re having an interesting discussion on adoption techniques and how to get relatively anti-social people engaged in social media and communities in our EMC|ONE community, and I thought I’d share my thoughts and response here with you, as well. What have you found that is helpful to getting...
Chris,
Excellent idea on making the unconference a bigger part of upcoming E2.0 conferences! I think that's a fantastic idea and will certainly facilitate collaboration and conversation among folks!
I also liked the idea (was it you that suggested it?) proposed at the Town Hall of setting up tables with some sort of label (such as industry or beginner, intermediate, advanced) during luck or BoF sessions to connect folks more readily, as well.
BTW - trying to find time about the great thought leadership PB Works showed during their E 2.0 Practitioner contest at the conference. I'm still very impressed with the notion and the buzz it generated for you guys! Perfect example of viral marketing + fun in the social media space! Kudos to you for rocking it at the conference!
Cheers,
Jamie

I did this last week, so wasn't able to grab your posts, but I've linked them above from your blog.
Couldn't find any blogs in the Proven Community to link to...couldn't find a blog at all, in fact, but lots of great discussions.
Your photos are in the Flickr slideshow, along with all 800+ other EMC World photos :-)

Would be happy to have a chat with you and share EMC's social media journey as it has unfolded over the past several years. I've been in the thick of it helping to lead the charge, along with Len Devanna and a few other passionate EMCers.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks so much for the comment and insight.
I hear you on the challenges and potential fears/risks that IT faces in the arena of social/Web 2.0 applications.
At EMC, we've invested a lot of time in partnering with IT, Legal, and HR to understand these fears and concerns, as well as to help mitigate them where ever possible, while also striving to meet the needs of our users.
One of our greatest accomplishments in this arena and quelling that fear and hesitation has been education on the topic at hand, the tools that are out there, and reinforcing existing policies for business conduct, electronic communications, and information confidentiality - all of which every employee agrees to as an employee.
While these tools feel very new to lots and lots of people - they've actually been around for quite some time - and truthfully, are no more risky to an organization than email, in my opinion.
We've also enabled our employees to use the tools appropriately following our existing policies by showcasing examples of what they *can* and highlight best practices for using the tools safely and effectively to reach their audience, meet their goals, and keep the company happy at the same time.
I'm happy to report in the several years that EMC has been using social collaboration tools, we've never had any sort of major incident that caused anyone any challenges. To me, that speaks volumes more than any policy ever could!
Looking forward to checking out the white paper from your company.
Cheers,
Jamie

Hi Michael,
Most definitely! I can clearly see an application to people with autism, and in fact would see this as a wonderful enabler for those individuals to have insight into signals that they might not have otherwise had insight into.
I'm curious to hear more about the project you reference. I'll ping Ben and see if he has any insights, information to share with us.
Cheers,
Jamie
