Not every Sox fan, Wade. Not every one. Just one here that I can see. Have to admit, that play was probably once in a lifetime, and pretty freaking amazing.
Mr. Damon of Detroit
Johnny Damon has signed with the Detroit Tigers for 1 year at $8 million. It was a fun ride while it lasted. If Joe Torre's quasi-autobiography is to be believed, his tenure wasn't always as happy go lucky as we were lead to believe. But, for the most part, Johnny was a fun player to watch, at l...
No one really knows for sure, and one thing baseball has shown us is that you can never, ever, take anyone at their word regarding this stuff. Except maybe Canseco...
Well there you go... you can trust some people about it. And if you can trust a guy like Canseco (nobody thought we'd be able to say that), why not Arroyo?
As far as branding him a trail blazing hero, no one seems to be doing that. It's just refreshing that someone appears to be giving some straight talk about PEDs/supplements from a players perspective. That's something we've yet to get, from a former/current Yankee or Red Sox player. (we all agree any other team doesn't count!)
Epstein Talks
Some excerpts from an interview on WEEI today, via the Globe. On the Halladay chase: I never got the sense that we were close, but we were pretty aggressive. We actually made J.P. [Ricciardi, Toronto's GM] an offer -- we actually made several different offers -- but our last offer was the mos...
Another walkoff??? This is getting way too regular. Obviously, I am just jealous. The Yanks are dangerous.
Death to Smoochy: Jays-Yanks Gamer
Discuss the action here.
Come on IBM, you knew somebody was gonna make that "clarification"!
Is History Repeating Itself?
And don't pitchers always have the advantage in these situations? I can't recall a hitter getting to the mound and doing any damage, basically ever.
That is so true. Great beatdowns rarely, if ever, occur because of this simple fact.
Seriously, how manly is it to go after a guy by hitting him in the face when he can't hit you in the face either?
Cripe, can we get over this? Those of you bringing this up can piss over what happened all you want, but as Sox fans it will be a favorite moment for a long time. What, you wanted Tek to disrobe before going after him? Catchers wear protective gear... deal with it.
Oh, and good for Youk. He did look stupid throwing the helmet, tho.
Is History Repeating Itself?
Here here! Another game of suck, but the bats can't go dead forever. Right? RIGHT?!?!?
SF is right, all is not lost.........yet.
Perspective
Horrible losing streak. Division probably gone. Offense dead. Rotation spotty. Injuries. Rivals flying high. But if the playoffs started today we'd be participating and every other team making the playoffs wouldn't be thrilled about seeing our top two starters in a series of any length. 50+ games...
Cripe. Of all the people. Does this mean he is a "Real Yankee" now?
Props on the win, tho.
Take that, Red Sox Touré
Alex ends a marathon with one very clutch regular season home run. Until tomorrow....
HELL NO!!! And neither is this season...
What 'Pitching Depth' Looks Like
Also doubles as a handy illustration of the Boston Red Sox' 2009 season.
Would love either option 2 or 3. Seeing Martinez hit that homer this am on Sportscenter I couldn't help but think "...wouldn't that be nice!"
Rumor Mongering
Speculation really heated up yesterday over the Red Sox' alleged pursuit of an impact arm or bat as the trade deadline approaches. The Sox were tied to all three major names out there, in varying degrees of seriousness. We promise we haven't made any of this up, in honor of the American soldier:...

Ump from last night: "Have you seen my strike zone?"
Watch the Ball, Dammit!: Sox-Tigers Gamer III
Is this a picture of: A) Last night's home plate umpire B) Any given player on the left side of the Red Sox' infield C) YF You make the call. Chat about today's action in the Motor City here.
Doh! You had me.
Trade Agreement
Peavy to the Sox. EDIT - 9:00pm: Teams agree, Peavy rejects deal. Still a Padre.
Same for me, Ath. Jeter is probably the only name that would truly surprise and sadden me. (God I hope it never happens, but I have to look at Ortiz and wonder. But I really really do not want his legacy tarnished.)
Manny: Suspended 50 Games
It ain't just A-Rod. For Sox fans who had any great illusions about the cleanliness of their series champ teams, this should serve as a tonic. But, on the other hand, who cares? Discuss. Update: Here's Manny's statement: Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medic...
Well, there you have it. Not a surprise, I suppose. I don't think too many (rationally thinking) Sox fans had "great illusions" of a sparkling clean team. Everyone knows no club was (and probably still is) untouched. This will give the Manny haters more fodder.
