Ahh!! Anna Karenina, my favorite book ever! You have such good taste, my dear.
The Last Frolic Before Fall
I fear and hope that this past Sunday afternoon is the last of the lazy Summer days. Nothing against lazy days, of course. I'm just hoping they will soon end with bonfires and hay-rides. The early evening hours were spent with Chinese carry-out, Tolstoy, dog walkers, flying geese, drif...
Hey, prepster is cool too...when you add a funky twist to it, like pairing polka dots and stripes.
Wardrobe Wednesday- Soccer Mom Prep
So... what's a girl to do when she's left her tripod at home? Ummm... use her car, of course! Yeah, these photos aren't very fancy, but I've realized the lack of wardrobe posts on this blog has been pretty sad. Sometimes I just don't want to mess with a tripod, and other times I just am not su...
My own man fashion inspiration:

Tailored trousers with suede slip-ons...mmm.
Manly Fashion Inspiration
Is it weird that I have a folder on my desktop where I save fashion inspo for Phil? He's accumulating a very nice wardrobe selection (thanks to my incessant Salvation Army shopping), but he never seems to know how to put an outfit together. I'm getting weary of styling his clothes every time w...
I like Anchors Away.
Wardrobe Wednesday- Shabby Apple Giveaway
This week's Wardrobe Wednesday is brought to you by Shabby Apple. No, really. It's brought to you! That is, the wonderful people behind the indie clothing shop would like to give one of my darling U.S. readers a vintage inspired dress, like the one I'm wearing here, or whichever dress you chos...
Mud room...a la that back room where you put your shoes in Victorian houses. :) Not romantic, but authentic.
Getting Organized & Naming Spaces
I'm finally starting to get things organized here in the new home. Radiators are the equivalent of a curve ball when it comes to placing furniture around these parts, so I've been resorting to shelving, especially in the dining room. You know, I'm not quite sure why we even call it the dining ...
It fits you so much better than it did moi! Glad you like it. :)
Wardrobe Wednesday- Neutrals
Yesterday, the same mirror fell down from the wall twice. Miraculously, it is still in one piece. But needless to say, setting up home is beginning to wear on me. I wish I wasn't the type to obsess over things as I do. But alas, I am. Which might explain my emotional breakdown I had with my ...
I love the character of George, the male lead. In the book, he tells the female lead, Eleanor: "But I do love you--surely in a better way than he [her controlling fiance] does . . . Yes--really in a better way. I want you to have your own thoughts even when I hold you in my arms" (ch. XVI). I think he says this in the movie too, non?
Movie Monday- A Room with a View
Broodingly romantic young men, stolen glances, achingly beautiful scenery, and an awkwardly snobby Daniel Day Lewis all gave this movie a place on my all-time favorite movies list. Add a dose of improbable romance, and it's just earned a place in my top five. Sigh. Why did I wait so long to wa...

Your ideas and your photos remind me of the Martha Stewart magazines I pored over when I was little. So cool.
A Last Minute Christmas Craft
Only a couple of days left until Christmas! But there's still time to put together a few things to make your table more festive. If your family has casual Christmas Eve gatherings, like mine, this would be a perfect project for your buffet table. I found these buckets for a few dollars at Pat ...
These are in our Christmas rotation too! Don't forget Holiday Affair, though...1948 I think, with Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh. We just discovered it a coupla years ago. It's a classic!
Christmas movie round up
Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without the tried and true Christmas movies. Our family has a list of our own personal favorites, involving the Muppets, Steve Martin, and Zooey Deschanel. But here is my own personal list of must see holiday movies. A charming romantic comedy about a 1940s...
I'm looking for a "new" winter coat, something chic and classic a la Audrey Hepburn, but alas, HalfCaf only has mediums and larges and I need a small. If you know the lowdown on a good deal for a good quality coat, please let me know!
Sale at Half Caf Vintage!
Hey guys! I've just gone through the entire inventory of clothing at Half Caf and drastically discounted all of the price tags. If there's something you've been eyeing for the buying, now's the time!
Thank you so much for saying this. I've been puzzling this out for a while and I've kept feeling that something was missing...this thought is it. Christ simultaneously destroys the hate and the anger and the awful parts of us--the parts that are against His Love (could we call this Not-Love?)--and makes us new through His life. So cool. And as He destroys the Not-Love in us, He's also working through us to destroy Not-Love in the world around us...by spreading His Love around. Dang that's cool.
Destroyed for Love
Tere dil mein mere saanson ko panaa mil jaaye Tere ishq mein mere jaan fanaa ho jaaye ("In your heart my breath found victory In your desire my life’s destruction is victory") -Fanaa There’s an Indian movie called Fanaa, about being destroyed for love. “Fanaa ho jaaye” is the movie’s tag line...
Hmm...I wonder if for those of us who know Christ's Love, people and circumstances affect our lives because Christ is ultimately working through those people and circumstances to shape into being more like His Love?
Declensions of Life
A declension is when a word changes in the presence of another word in a sentence. (Trust me...it relates.) So in Hindi when “mera” (“me/my”) comes near "ke lie” (“with”), "mera" changes: “mere lie” (“with me”). The “a” at the end of “mera” changed to “e” in “mere lie,” because in Hindi, words ...
