2012: Year of Hope, Improvements & Betterments
Twenty-Twelve is going to be my year. I hope I didn't just jinx it by saying that, but I just feel that it is. The year of new opportunities! New places! New faces! For one, I've booked a photography gig... Continue reading

Friday Night Lights
Some random insights of the mind from the past 24 hrs.: 1. Fire Pit 12,000 (pronounced Twelve Thousand, not Twelve Hundred) is awesome on a cool, late summer night with your peeps, who include my sister, her kids (age almost... Continue reading

On the Day That You Were Born the Angels Got Together...
Your birthday story. Dear Care, Because you can't pick your parents, I am regret to inform you your story will include some profanity. Your mother's profanity. And as you will one day later know, I didn't even push. So, yeah,... Continue reading

Interview with local Boston commoner re: Royal Wedding
On a typical day, Care gives us our wake up call sometime between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. On the rare morning she is trying to prove her unyielding love for her parents, she'll give us a glorious 7:00 a.m. This... Continue reading

Missing You
Not sure how to follow that. That wasn't exactly light material, in subject matter and the fact that you might have well thought I was getting paid to write by the pound (3,200 words according to this thing. Maybe next... Continue reading

He would be walking. Or off running. There would be talking. I'd hear "Mama." He would be repeating "No" or maybe a series of "Whys?" He would be going to Lowes with his Dad. "Helping" him in the yard. Instead,... Continue reading

"Call 1-800-Dentist. Here, let me get the number for you."
My friend Mary and I had this thing about the old 1-800-Dentist commercial, in that it would INCENSE my friend Mare because the lady recommending 1-800-dentist would pause to say, "here, let me get the number for you," as she... Continue reading

You are my sunshine.
The Spirit of Christmas Part II (Teenager Me is Fun edition)
It had been a few years between Mom-administered writing assignments. The last one was from 1981/2 (wherein I got to first exercise my bullshitting chops as a 3rd/4th grader), and this was being from 1986, which puts me squarely mid-8th... Continue reading

The Spirit of Christmas (Part I)
My mother passed away a little over a week ago -on my birthday, to be exact (thanks, Mom)- and things over here are not going so great. I can't even nor do I want to even get into the emotional... Continue reading

Baby Carried a Watermelon, I Swallowed a Basketball.
There are many things to say to a woman in the earlier stages of her pregnancy. "Can I hold your hair back?" "So you know, I can call a guy who "knows people" to take care of that guy who... Continue reading

News Radio (95-99). One of the best comedic ensemble casts. Double shame about Phil Hartman, as this series couldn't continue without his character, despite Jon Lovitz's best attempts to fill in after Phil's death.
Another Friday Night Lights fan. People need to watch so this doesn't get canned.

Congratulations, Stella. I am so thrilled for you guys. I know you have been trying for so long.
I am a few months ahead of you, btw (22 wks this Sat). I have mentioned it via Flickr, but since I have just rejoined the blog world, hadn't really told everybody (unless they are on Flickr/Facebook)
The first few mos, all I was thinking about was where my next meal was coming. I've since chilled out. Also, boobs? right there with you (I was pretty modestly sized prior to, and now it's like...woah. What the?)
Congratulations again! Woot!!
Please Pass the Cow
Today I am 12.5 weeks pregnant. Still feeling shitty-ish. The nausea is beginning to let up, however the gas is really out of control. I was a burper before, but really - you wouldn't want to take me to the Country Club for brunch these days. All I want is cow. Cow milk, cow cheese, beef.....
