First off, record sales don't mean shit to me. It is something to recognize and respect but it's not the end all be all. The largest consumer demographic in hip-hop is much younger than I am, so I can't use their trends as my reason to crown an emcee the king. To me it's all about word play, content and flow above everything. I never thought Jay-z was that good but some of my people say all Jay-z albums are classics (which I doubt) but, who am I to tell them they're wrong and how can anyone say to those ppl that he's falling off when they feel his track record is all classic? It's asinine to even argue. I respect everyone's opinion. I say this tho, anybody who crowns themselves king, is proof that they are anything but that. They're just simply trying to sell the facade of something they ain't.

I ain't forget dog, I figured cats would know them since they were more successful. I'm glad i'm not the only one here who know about the essence. Peace dog

For all the cats infatuated with numbers, I guess your king has risen..lol!

And the brain f*ck in that story is that hip-hop is a genre built on monikers and image..so really, Who is real? lol A great record is just a great record, leave the gossip to women in salons..

Why would you put your seed out there like that?? God forbid but, hungry cats will try and get this kid if they think he's rolling around with cash like that. Feed the starving africans and stop rubbing that shit in our faces.

It's still great numbers tho! This might be the model for how music will be sold from now on. Digital only..

Well alright, if they talking sales then he can get that, no doubt. I don't understand why all you heads that are infatuated with numbers dont ever include Vanilla Ice, Hammer and the Beastie Boys in your list. Them cats sold mad records. lol Regardless, I never bought an Em lp but I respect him for not always having his head up his ass all the time, like these other cats calling themselves g.o.a.t. every chance they get. Self proclamation means shit! let your peers anoint you sucka!

If you talking money, then ok, I'll give Jay that title and it's well deserved but, if you ranking emcees on raw skill and creativity, he's lucky if he gets into my top ten.

I know most of the young cats ain't checkin for it but on the real, hip-hop needs these types of things to happen, minus the mafia innuendos.

That's the way album should always be recorded IMO. You can always feel the vibe when it is. Now a days you hear collabos and be like, that session must of been dope but, come to find out dudes didn't even sit together for one minute.

Agreed! Put all your effort into that next SH lp, then drop The Great Escape...which Im sure is gonna be dope as hell.

If you accepted the mans apology then you should have put the whole thing behind you. Why stay frustrated?

If you keep sounding more and more like your competition, eventually the lines are gonna get blurred and it'll be hard for simple minded fans to see the difference, especially in the absence of that competition. I like some of Jigga's shit but man, I'm from the old school, no biting is a golden rule in hip hop and he broke it too many times to get the respect the rap world gives him. All ppl see is money.

No doubt dog, not just the labels tho, publishers, concert venues, merchandising. the industry as a whole is struggling but, they still got it on lock. Look, Colombia gave that new little white girl a million $$ deal. Can't no artist say the things 50 is saying and really believe in their mind that a major label like Interscope needs him for anything. They'll find a new 50 cent quick fast.

I'm chill my nigga. The homie cleared up his intentions so it's all good.

Nah nigga, I don't hate on nobody. My enemies have faces and they know mine. I think dudes that get on sites talking shit are pussy.. let me start off with that! 50 created record labels??? Yo son, don't talk about shit you don't know anything about. You make yourself look real stupid. To be clear about my comment, the music industry been poppin for more than 150 years nigga. 50 talking like Interscope is gonna go under if they don't do a better job with his record? That's talking shit cause whether he asked to be released or they drop him, they'll do just fine without him. by the way, I like some of 50 music, I just ain't with all the gimmicks.

Record labels been here before 50 and they'll be here after him too. they don't need nobody.

Keep your head up X. They can't hold you forever.

cause I comment on whatever the fuck I want and watch your mouth you little pussy, you ain't talking to your pops.

Well dog, the 1st 2 examples don't apply cause Jigga and 50 did what they did for the purpose of scoring one on their enemy. Even though it was a dirty move, they didn't wife them up. As far as 3 stacks, idk man, Erykah seem different to me. I respect her music and the way she carry herself, and that can never be dissed.

Never bought a Jay-Z or a Kanye album and sure as hell wasn't gonna buy this one.

Smoke and mirrors are created for the purpose of generating interest, which is supposed to compensate for the lack of interest an artist loses after their hit single lost steam. I don't respect that type of business but, I fully comprehend why they do it.

"He's turned off hearing blatantly commercial/formulaic songs" -funny how he's now trying to back pedal on the same formula that made him who he is, gimmick and commercial bs.
