Life has been a whirlwind the last couple of weeks for us and now it has slowed down. We started the summer off with the notion that we were selling our house and buying my in-laws. We spent hours replacing the kitchen floor, carpet in the living room, Chloee's bedroom and ours. We also finished the hallway with hardwood. We made numerous trips to Home Depot and Ace Hardware to match paint to touch up in the living room, kitchen, family room and entry. We even painted Chloee's whole room white. Tony and I checked in with each other countless... Continue reading

I fell off the work out wagon for the past 6 months. I thought about doing it- even woke up early several mornings got dressed started the workout and then stopped 5 minutes into it. I had no motivation! I climbed to the top of Multnomah Falls in May- there was no struggle. I knew that If I could do that and still have breath at the top I was still in shape. I felt a little less guilty for not working out. These past couple of weeks of school were hectic and crazy and I was on a motivation... Continue reading

Here are some pictures of what we are creating in my classroom this year. These are all projects of my "3"s class (Tuesday-Thursday) This is our number caterpillar. The class paints the circle whatever the color of the month is and then the number of the month is added. They are so excited that the number caterpillar is finally growing. This is our ABC train. We are learning three letters a month. Each child has a chance to work with their family to create the letter they have been assigned. So far- Anna has done "A". Brody has done "B".... I've been thinking about my blog and how much I have missed writing on it. I did not realize that it has been over a month since I last checked in with a post. I feel like I have been MIA for awhile. We are in full swing around here with school. Chloee is in Kindergarten and enjoying every minute of it. She had a play date last week with one of her classmates. She is learning how to read. It is so fun to listen to her sound out the letters and start connecting the words. Chloee takes Ballet... Continue reading

The first picture was taken of me in April of 2008. I had just started Weight Watchers in February of that year. It does not look like I had lost much two months later. Wow! How did I let myself get there. The second one was taken this last weekend two years later in the exact same spot. 90 lbs lighter. Continue reading

Chloee and I went to a family reunion with my parents this last weekend. I did not take very many pictures, but here are a few that I did take or were taken by my mom. I want to remember: These two are like two peas in a pod. Chloee loves spending time with Papa. Chloee and I riding in the back of the truck Chloee and Nana. My family gave me a Weight Watcher's Cookbook for Mother's Day. I thumbed through it and then proceeded to put it in the cabinet with all the other cookbooks. Today I decided to get it out and find at least one thing in there to make. I am finding that being home this summer is challenging to the weight maintance. I am doing it, but I don't want to slip. Anyway... I found a receipe for Oven "Fries". Here is what they start out looking like: Here is what they looked like when they were done: They were really good... Continue reading

I have not talked about Weight Watchers and my weight loss on here lately. I have been maintaining my weight for the past four months. In February it was two years that I joined Weight Watchers. In February I decided not to renew my monthly subscription to WW. I decided to just do it on my own for awhile. I felt like I was disciplined enough after two years to manage or at least try. I feel like I have been doing a good job of it. It is not easy, but I still eat like I am on the... Continue reading

I have been on a reading marathon lately. My friend Kris and I decided to create summer reading lists. We each listed 6 books and then we are going to choose from that list and read the books at the same time. We will have our own book club without having to meet. We may just plan for a time and text/chat about it. Have not worked out the details yet. If anyone would like to join in- let me know. This inspired me to go on a book quest (Kris's word) and I found quite a few books that... Continue reading

Here is some flair from my classroom: We just finished learning about insects, caterpillars and Butterflies. We have 6 caterpillars in our classroom that will soon be making their way up to the top of the jar to become butterflies. The kids check every day and so far nothing has happened. We learned about frogs awhile ago and now we have tadpoles in our classroom that will soon become frogs. Thanks to my dad.....:) Here are some pictures from the weekend: Chloee and Katelyn having a tea party. Tony took the kids fishing today: Continue reading

I have totally neglected this blog. I think about it, but can't seem to get myself to actually sit down and write on it. I worked today in the kindergarten class at school. Most of the class was full of my previous students. It was fun to hang out with them and see how far they have come in two years. They are reading and writing and acting like big kids. I take pictures of my class throughout the year and then make a slide show for the parents on the last day. I counted 400+ pictures for my morning... Continue reading

Chloee's class went on a field trip to OMSI Planetarium last Friday. They were showing "The Secret Of The Cardboard Rocket. This was an intro to their space unit they are learning about in class. I took one picture of her there. I have seen this before when Declin's Pre-K class went. He still talks about it. Chloee was a bit bored. She really has no interest in space. She was more interested in what we saw on the way into the building. This man was digging around in the garbage by the door. I explained to her that he lived... Continue reading

Easter used to be one of my favorite holidays as a child- we would always get new dresses to wear- big baskets full of chocolate and jellybeans, eggs and one "must have" gift. We would color eggs the night before and of course they never looked as nice as the ones on the box, but they were our own creations. I loved going to church and seeing all the lilies up on the alter, hearing the Easter Story and singing some of my favorite hymns. My grandpa and grandma always sat in the row behind me and about half way... Continue reading
