A little flock
So as you can see I have been busy and at last have finished my new patterns. Wooohooo! It's such a nice feeling of relief! There has been a lot of tweaking and trying out different arrangements of stitches and shaping and I have gone slightly stir crazy knitting sheep heads (over 40 to da...
What a fabulous happy photo of Toby. Enjoy the spring. X
bluebell time
Although I didn't grow up in the area where we now live, I feel that I've got to know it well over the last 20 years. I've enjoyed that process and it's one that continues as there are still so many new places to explore. One of the nicest things about getting t...
Happy new year. Mittens are a current Pinterest board. About to add a anew pattern
back to familiar routines
The Christmas and New Year break was a good one here. We spent lots of time together watching family films and eating nice things which makes for the best kind of Christmas holiday in my book, especially as Amy is usually out or cloistered with her computer in her roo...
Have a happy and peaceful Christmas. Jill
Feeling festive at last
It was peppermint bark day here yesterday! I've been melting chocolate, crushing candy canes, dripping peppermint oil, stirring cream, threading stripey string through festive tags and listening to carols - it must be almost Christmas! Peppermint bark has become my standard gift for Toby...

I recently cleared my mother's home. I realised in the end it's just 'stuff'. Memories are triggered by so many things in the 'life without mother' world. I am a proud owner of a little Cotton rabbit and yes, it is a hug, hygge, in the present. Julie is a delight and a joy. To touch so many in the world is , for many , a memory to last a lifetime. Not just a knitter but an ever present hug. Each rabbit I have knitted from her patterns and sent out into the world have spread the Hygge. Replacement rabbits have been sent as the first has been loved to extinction.
I have always said' I reserve the right to faff about pointlessly'. It is how stresses are relieved. Forgive me for using your post to echo your sentiments.
Julie is a legend in her own knitdom.

September days
With the autumn equinox yesterday the balance of the year has tipped and now we're heading towards shorter days, from warmth to cold and from light to dark but for now it still feels like summer is hanging on here. I've been trying to get out a little more often while the good weather lingers. W...
Ooooh. Which grown up ex child wouldn't love such a suitcase of loveliness. Seasonal readjustment, winter about to descend. It hits us all. Enjoy the knitting, the lists will be completed. Or not. Life will carry on. Much love. Jill. About to lose my grands to the delights of Dubai for a couple of years. Looking forward to time to 'faff about pointlessly'. Hugs.

Ten years and a giveaway
Ten years ago today, on September 3rd 2006 my four year old son Toby was about to start school. It was a big deal for me because not only is he severely autistic but I was ending a six year period of being a constant stay-at-home mum and I wasn't entirely sure what to do with my days. To counter...
Holidays time can be difficult. Routine is upset, days can drag. Hopefully about to start my first ever grown up shawl. (Baby shawls? Been there , loved that)
Patterns collected. Cashmere stashed. Make the most of summer 'moments'. What is life if full of care etc..

High summer
The last few days have been bathed in the kinds of temperatures that we don't often see here, 32c by day and hot sweaty nights of 24c. I know that's nothing to many of you living in warmer climes but it's a notably rare occurrence for those of us living in a land of cool mists and plentiful rain...
A wonderful evening and a fantastic memory. Watching your child grow to adulthood. How quickly it happens. Mums are not needed until they are. Then we're there with open arms and hearts for whatever they need. Much love. X
An evening walk
Since finishing her GCSEs 3 weeks ago Amy has been at a bit of a loose end and it's been nice to spend a little more time with her. On Thursday evening we went for a long walk together, exploring some of our local countrys...
Haven't commented for a long time, but have always checked to see your posts. Your blog gave me focus through illness and pleasure in seeing (and subsequently knitting!) your creative and impeccable knits. I'm proud to own one. My granddaughter knows it's mine, but "borrows" it regularly.
Enjoy the sunshine, the garden and know there are people out there thinking about you.

June days
There's been a fair bit of wet and stormy weather around lately but that's been good news for the garden where everything now has that early summer vibrancy and is growing vigorously. In some cases a little to vigorously as my little veg patch is getting swamped by the he...
I'm looking for a project. A mouse in celebration of yours. Project begun. I'd still dearly love to win this one. Don't Rory about what you haven't done. Celebrate what you have. X
A Christmassy giveaway
It pains me to say it, but I have to admit defeat on finishing off the batch of seasonal themed animals. Time has not been on my side and I have a heap of unfinished animals here and not enough hours left to finish them before last posting dates arrive. So instead I'm going to give away the litt...
I understand the elbow. Happened to me knitting for my granddaughter. Patience, the only cure. My thoughts are with you as always Julie.

Puffed out
Firstly, thanks so very, very much for all the wonderfully kind comments on the previous post about Tobys hair. I was so touched to read them and wish I could share them with Toby and have him understand all of the lovely compliments you gave him. Secondly, sorry to not have been around much rec...
Living in the South is making me happy! Upped sticks to care for for children and now live in a small village mentioned in the domesday book. A flat garden, three granchildren, my dog and of course my husband, who will probably wonder why he is last in the list. An avid reader since 2006. Wow that went quickly
Jill
Giveaway time, at last :)
As mentioned over a month ago, I have just celebrated the start of my 9th blogging year! I published my first blog post in September 2006 on the day before Toby started school - he was still 4 years old and much, much tinier than he is today! Amy was 6 and loved Disney princesses, colouring book...
Oooh welcome back. I've missed you. Thank you for the supplement. Looking forward to elephant construction. Take very good care. Much love

Elephants
Hello and sorry to have been away for so long. There has been rather a lot going on here recently in between the day-to-dayness of family life. Of course I've been knitting lots and have finished off a few animals which I'm hoping I have time to re-home before easter. But I've also been busy wri...
Oh my. Colour, texture, snuggle awesomeness. Stay with the needles. The needles will see you through. Damaged my ulna nerve last year. I had no idea how much knitting played a part in my stress management. Knitting and concentrating on the pattern writing will be there for you whenever you need a mental rest.
Be strong
Jill xx
a little more grey and a lot more colour
It was school half term break here last week, so there were a lot of wood walks in our schedule and not much knitting going on. Today however with the children back at school I'm happily playing with wool again and carrying on working on the next couple of patterns to share. I mentioned the elep...
Peace and joy to you all this christmas. A busy and surprising year, who knew I'd end the year in the south! May your new year bring the unexpected and the joyous

merry Christmas x
Well, December days have dashed by and Christmas is upon us, which I shouldn't really be surprised about seeing as this year has fairly whooshed by. Are you ready? I'm not far off being so and I have today and tomorrow to catch up with everything that needs to be done. My deadline is 3pm tomorro...
Hola! So my sweet, I'm sending a virtual hug.a big one. You are an inspiration to so many of us lurkers in blog land. Thank you for continuing to blog, your contribution to the world is so special. Now I have to go and find another magazine I've never bought. Loved my summer ' near you in the south'. Autumn has arrived. Mittens needed. Much love. X
in my knitting bag
I don't know where the days have gone recently. It seems such a short while since the children went back to school and yet here we are in October already. All of those long and wonderfully warm sunny days are gone for this year and though autumn is always a favourite time for me I do feel rathe...
Hope all is going well! X
