That last paragraph put a lump in my throat just reading it, so I know how difficult it was to write it, Juana. My heart goes out to you!
WEEK 96 and 97
Note: As I explained in my last post, A STRANGER TO HER OWN BLOG, I am picking up where I left of- WEEK 96. I had this post written and a few more that I had down loaded the photos already but, with the last hectic days before I left for Spain, and then the jet lag and migraines after I arrived ...
Are you still considering moving back here?
A STRANGER TO HER OWN BLOG
June 13, 2012 Villanueva de la Cañada Madrid, Spain. A stranger to her own blog. That is how she feels today. Six months have passed since she wrote her last post. Nothing was familiar to her anymore. Not even signing in. What was that password she used? She couldn´t remember it and did the...
Hello there, Juana! You might not feel like the same Juana, but she's in there! So glad to see you are doing this for yourself and for Pepe. Hugs.

In photos, your hair looks great! But, I suffer with the same limp and fine hair you do. I'm not sure mine is thinning or that it's just breaking off. I have started leaning over the sink as I style my hair to see how much is coming down. It's in broken pieces mostly, so I don't think it's thinning...just fine, weak and dry. I hate my hair! Always have. The grass is always greener.....
Let me know if the Rogaine helps!
Hair, or the lack thereof
Not wanting to be seen by anyone I knew, I ducked into a store quite a distance from our house, heading straight for the product I sought. I had been eyeing it for years, but until this moment, couldn't rouse the courage to actually buy it. Tucking the box under my arm so the name wasn't obviou...
"I'm finally learning to burst those melancholy balloons before they take flight." Love it!!
We finally got to the point where we are out of our rain barrel water. A first!! Apparently, we've been drier that I thought. I assume if it rains up at the lake, it rains at home as well, but I guess it hasn't in quite some time.
Morning Rituals
The air felt stagnant and thick as I walked up to the road. The sky wasn't gray or pink or blue, just a weird mixture of the three. No hope of rain, no beautiful sunrise to make up for it, and not a whisper of a breeze. The puppies bounced beside me, eager for our walk, but in my head I heard, W...
oh, how nice that would be....
Horizons
Disturb us, Lord, when We are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true Because we have dreamed too little, When we arrived safely Because we sailed too close to the shore. - Sir Francis Drake I have a map in my mind, with huge circles drawn around several desti...
I agree with LF...you need a break! I hope this week brings back happiness for you!
WEEK 77 & part of WEEK 78
August WEEK 77 Thursday 11 - Wednesday 17 WEEK 78 Thursday 18 - Wednesday 24 Have you ever felt broken? I hope you never do. It’s a horrible feeling. I hope life spares you from it. It hasn’t me. And so I will be honest, because I don’t want to pretend that all is well. What is the poin...
Oh my...they don't mind the excessive heat??
Headed for Adventure, a Crape Myrtle Update and Saturday's Belated "Sweet!" Report
Tom and Daniel headed out this morning for several days of fishing on the coast. Would you believe TG and I weren't invited? But that's okay with me. I wasn't even tempted to tag along. When I say they'll be "on the coast," I really mean "on the coast"! They're planning to park the truck rig...
I love that earring frame! What is the material that MK used for it? I'd love to make one!
And congrats on making "Post of the Week"!!
Why, Thank You! (and my Friday Favorite Photo!)
Thank you to everyone who said a prayer, crossed their fingers or in some way tried to steer Tropical Storm Don more to the north, providing us with a better chance of rain to ease this drought. However, I just saw this post by my weatherman on Facebook... Dear Don, Thanks for nothing. Sincerely...
Here's to a nudge on its shoulder and lots of rain over your head! :-)
A little more to the right, please...
Normally, there's no way I'd be praying for a tropical storm to head our way, especially on a weekend, but extreme circumstances call for extreme prayer! (Forty-plus days of 100+ degree temps and the driest 7-month span on record qualifies as extreme circumstances, doesn't it? Thought so.) I bel...
It makes me think of a summer job I had when I was in college and I loved it!!
When work doesn't feel like work.... and Saturday's "Sweet!" Report
Never, ever did I dream of being a waitress. And yet, here I am, spending a Saturday dressed in black, small apron neatly tied around my waist, order pad in hand... Life is so funny. I've stumbled into a job that feels like a hobby. Don't get me wrong... I work at it! I sweat from being on the ...
I have been using one of Neutragena's face lotions for several years every morning except for a couple of years when I switched to Arbonne products (much more expensive). Honestly, the Neutragena has done the same as Arbonne but for a fraction of the cost. I don't think I have that many more wrinkles now than I did several years ago. Where I do notice the biggest difference is in my neck. Ugh! I have to find out if there's any exercise for that!
You are looking fantastic, so high-5 to you!
Face in the Mirror
Face in the mirror You are the face I recognize, the face I know, the face I greet each morning, Yes, the face I love, despite the lines and scars and spots. You and I have traveled together, collected mementoes of Life. Your eye-crinkles and mouth-creases... reminders of laughter and reasons to...
Food is so difficult to shoot, but you've made me hungry, so that counts alot! :-)
You've really put your nose to the grindstone!
WEEK 71
WEEK 71 THU 30 - WED 6 WEEK 71. I don't know when I have been more determined in my life to finish something I had started. I don't remember having cooked as much either, since I had all of my kids together, or had a celebration...But I had to do it. I had to cook some of the dishes from ...
I'm so late to the party! But, better late than never, right? My apologies. Happy Belated 51!! And such good news about Alonso!
WEEK 70
WEEK 7o THU 23 - WED 29 WEEK 70 = AWESOME! This week I changed my work schedule to accommodate writing time. Four hours a day for seven straight days. I am short in hours, which means EVEN less pay... but Pepe and I agreed to this. Some people skip Christmas. I am skipping a mortgag...
He really resembles your Dad! So happy for them both!
A Brother's Smile and other (belated) "Sweet!"s of the Week
The day his wife died, my brother Donnie lost his smile. Well, he lost more than that; with just a glance at his drawn face, it was easy to believe he thought the world held absolutely nothing for him anymore. If it weren't for his children, I think he would have just sat in a corner and faded a...
Oh, and BTW...CONGRATS on reaching 1000!
"And now for something completely different..." Kitchen Tales, a Recipe and Post #1000!
When I was growing up, if I stepped one foot in the kitchen, my grandmother would suddenly appear beside me to see what I was doing. It didn't matter if I waited until she was in her bedroom with the door closed playing the piano and belting out "Oh, What a Friend We Have in Jesus", she would so...
You've got several late night/early morning viewers! Good for you taking on a challenge like that! I know what you mean when you go back and look at old recipes and how unhealthy they sound just reading the ingredients and how it's prepared. It's nice that the food industry is changing to a more healthy diet. I have just recently (in the past couple of weeks) signed up for daily recipes from www.allrecipes.com. I love that site. In the short time I've been receiving them I've gotten two fantastic recipes that I've already made. One of which was last night's dinner. Rosemary and bacon wrapped chicken and a Pulled Pork recipe. Both, couldn't be easier and more delicious! If you're interested, I'll send them to you. I, too, like casseroles and will give yours a try (although hubby doesn't care for rice)!

you're so lucky to have this group of friends still in your life!
Divas ... Then and Now
More than two weeks have already passed since my Deer Park Diva Weekend, but I'm just now getting the photos uploaded to Facebook and I've barely mentioned it on here. (Or have I? I can't remember!) But on these hectic, over-packed days I find myself in lately, I just have to flip a ...
Okay...what's a Super Texan? That house of shelves is very cool (but no handrails?) Congrats for your bro...falling in love is very special! And congrats for Shake...I know you're one of his biggest fans!
He Knows Me So Well (and Saturday's Week of Sweet!s)
Tom's email read "I saw this and thought of you," with a hyperlink under the message. My heart fluttered - he thought of me while he was at work? How sweet! Tom never emails me unless it's a two-word response to something I've sent him. I clicked the link and laughed when the page popped up desc...
Congrats to Chris! (although, I had no idea you had a son here in Atlanta. Duh!) And, only because I know Atlanta so well (at least the major roads) that top photo is from 285.;-)
Are you almost close to publication?
WEEK 69
Thursday 16 Finally. That very special day I had longed for so, so many years, arrived. My son, Christopher, graduated! He chose not to walk, but that didn't matter to me. I drove to the Art Institute of Atlanta for Christopher's portafolio show and spend some time with him and Beth. T...
Holy Moly!!!! I knew it was hot out there, but THAT hot!! OMG...I can't even believe they were out there working. I would have collapsed after a couple of minutes.
Yes, that one of the fountain is fab for the challenge! :-)
And I REALLY like Daniel's expression in that shot! That's a keeper!
The (Only) Good Thing About a Drought
Because of the drought, the University of Texas is turning off their fountains to save water. I'm glad I didn't procrastinate any longer than I did on Daniel's photo shoot. He would have looked funny sitting there in front of a stone dry Littlefield Fountain. Imagine this one without the wa...

Puppy Dog Mornings (and a week of sweets)
I follow a certain ritual almost every morning, finding a spiritual, mental and physical balance that goes completely out of whack the rest of the day... I begin at the kitchen table, enjoying a first cup of coffee and my healthy cereal (topped with blueberries and Greek yogurt) while readi...
this can be considered both "the most frustrating" AND "the most sweet" of the week:
I'll start off by saying that two of my three lenses were left back in my office this past weekend by mistake, and the only one I had with me up at the lake was my macro which I didn't even bother to take on the boat. (I mean, what macros are there to shoot on a boat??) Mind you, this is the ONLY time I've been on the boat that I can remember when I didn't have my trusty zoom (other than a few weeks ago when we had that surprise fireworks display). So wouldn't you know it, we think it was either a female bald (or golden) eagle and a red-tailed hawk that got into an airstrike with one another practically right over over boat! It was amazing! The shots I could have taken would have been to die for! The territorial battle went on and off for a good 15 minutes. At one point the eagle, who wasn't going to be shooed away that easily, dipped into the lake and caught itself a fish, then stood on the bank near us and ate it! Then after that show was over we heard a loud eerie calling and found out a little later it was a Common Loon floating in a nearby cove and crying for a lost one!
Here's a youtube video of its call (and it sounded just like this) we NEVER see or hear Loons!

Pretty sweet experiences!

Well, if nothing else, this post is written in the style that I've come to know you by. Your words flow like wine and wrap themselves around you.
Time, Water and other missing things (plus Friday's Favorite Photos)
I walked at dusk, a tangerine glow still lining the horizon, not quite snuffed by the night sky. The wind blew hard, but it was comforting, like a friend's reassuring hug, and its roaring in my ear was a lullaby, soothing. While the puppies hunted for lizards and rough-housed in the sand, I turn...
