In my opinion Bonnie Tyler and Engelbert Humperdinck last year deserved the first prize. Unfortunately, the UK hasn't realised yet that Eurovision televoting mostly involves the younger generation who have no idea who Bonnie Tyler or Engelbert Humperdinck are!!!

I am a Londoner living in California. I love London, I love the hustle and bustle in Oxford Street, Regent Street or Knightsbridge, the things to see and do - 24 hours anytime, the action, the people, the way of life - I love it all. In the USA, things are different, anonymous in a way. Thanks for taking me back home for a while. I wish you happiness and success in 2013 and may all your dreams come true.
Christmas in London
I've been often told that Christmas in London is magical. But mainly because of my fear of flying, I've never felt brave enough to fly for more than 4 hours. The last time I visited London was for a very sad reason, soon after my graduation from the University of Geneva 30 years ago. I had seve...

Have you ever heard the saying "only you can make yourself happy"? Well, as trite as it seems, it may be true. The most important factor to happiness and well-being is self-esteem. Also important are feelings of independence and competency, often brought about by high self-esteem. Surprisingly, common traits like popularity, power, money or luxury are rated the lowest, to my mind..
Tuesday's Positive Thought - Self-Esteem
Many people think that self- esteem has to do with good looks and a great body, others believe that their self-esteem depends on how popular they are with their friends and/or family while some others simply think that good self- esteem depends on how much you have accomplished in life. I a...
Sounds delicious! I wish I could have some of your Greek spaghetti.
Monday's Greek Recipe - Makaronia Olikis me Lahanika kai Ouzo - Whole-Wheat Spaghetti with Mixed Vegetables and Ouzo

Thinking positively about something really might make it happen, just like in your case, Anastasia. Simply anticipating something good can gear up hidden circuits in the brain to drive you towards it. I believe that thinking about a happy outcome plants a "suggestion" in the mind, in a similar way to a hypnotist. It can't work magic, obviously, but I suppose effects of suggestion are more powerful than people think and can change behaviours and even outcomes.
Tuesday's Positive Thought - Don't Cry Over the Spilt Milk
Sunrise at Mackenzie Beach-Larnaca My positive outlook on life has often helped me get a much better quality of life even when things go wrong. Life is certainly not a bed of roses, but what's the point of being negative in rocky times? When things go wrong, I never think of the negative c...
Positive thoughts have to be followed by positive actions. When there's a will, there's a way.
Positive Self-Talk
It is very common to hear people say "Think Positive" to a friend or relative who's been through rocky times. Few people, however, take this seriously. On the contrary, they'd rather ruin their health and poison their lives with negative thoughts. They hardly ever count their blessings and feel...
What I hate most about Twitter is spam! This is why I cancelled my Twitter account.
Why I Hate Twitter
Social networking is a wonderful way to find old friends, classmates or colleagues or even connect with other people of other cultures. That's why I so enjoy communicating with my friends on Facebook. However, I am a curious person in the positive sense of the word, this is why I thought I'd tr...
One thing I love in your blog is that you are fiercely passionate about what you write.
Dry Spells
There are times when I really feel like updating my blog yet no matter how much I try to squeeze a post out of my head, I hit dry spells and can't think of a word to write! What's even more frustrating is that trying to break through a blank screen happens on a day like today when I have plenty ...

Vascular Problems: Diagnosed with PAD
It's been a while now that I feel tiredness in my right thigh, especcially when I walk. As it was just tiredness , not pain, I didn't really consider this seriously. However, this tiredness has recently been getting worse and worse. If I walk up to 500 metres, I need to stop for a minute before ...
Right now, I'm up to my eyes in work. I'm looking forward to a few days off work in August and spending a short holiday with the family in the UK. Enjoy your summer break!
End of School Year 2011-2012
So, another school year has come to an end. Funny how I feel sad and already look forward to the new school year beginning in September. I guess this is not normal but I know in my heart of hearts that I'm going to miss my kids for the next two and a half months. I've been jam-packed with work l...
I do enjoy listening to BBC 4 Extra online
Listening to the Radio
Back in the late 1960s, when I was a little girl, the only form of home entertainment was the radio and black & white tv. In those days, there was only one tv channel in Cyprus - CyBC (Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation). The programme, however, started at 7:00 pm and ended at 11:00 pm. Of course I...

Most of my friends back home in the UK have already spent a holiday in Cyprus and they all have great stories to share. I'd so much love to spend a holiday at Protaras. The place looks magical!
Weekend at Protaras and the Fire Show at the Golden Coast Hotel
Situated on the east coast of Cyprus, Protaras covers approximately 5km of the golden Famagusta Coastline. Protaras flourished into a charming tourist resort in the 1980s as a more sophisticated alternative to the buzzing and wild atmosphere of its neighbouring town; Agia Napa (locate...
What more can I say when Britain's Engelbert Humperdinck finishes second last. The 76-year-old crooner gave an amazing performance with his ballad "Love Will Set You Free" Funnily enough, 80 year-old ladies from Russia finish top second thanks to all the 12 points they got from many ex-soviet countries.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2012
I am an incurable Eurovision fan and have been watching the Eurovision Song Contest live on TV since 1978. Naturally, I was so glad - almost delirious - to see on Tuesday's first semi-final that Greece and Cyprus got the golden ticket to tomorrow's Grand Final. Congratulations to both of our ama...
