When we are too serious we cannot imagine a larger context than the one we are trapped in. In order to think, to symbolize, we need the space to wander off to observe. Play represents an attitude of good will and faith, a set of rules, of accommodation to circumstance, of mobility, of ease and presence, of separateness in engagement, of sufficient slack in our therapeutic rope.
