I hope the mass violent attacks against families in their own homes doesn't spread to Scotland. The violation, the fear for your children as, literally, 1,000s of thugs rampage outside your house destroying cars, breaking down front doors, setting fire to neighbours houses is something people should never experience. The... Continue reading

While Scotland currently depends on Westminster for so many vital decisions, accusing a junior such as Iain Gray of being a puppet of London can't really resonate with those voters it needs to - Labour supporters. If focus groups of known Labour voters were to focus on what messages most undermined their support for Labour at a Scottish Parliament election - now that might be interesting. Repeating arguments that sustain SNP support alone isn't going to be enough come May.
Excellent!

When I was a young lad, I was a District Councillor. With hindsight I am caused much embarrassment when I recall the annual budget debates. Amazingly, the councillors were never expected to look at anything other than "variations". Officials never presented the full budget, just the bits that could be... Continue reading

You have to laugh at Cameron and his “wanting Magrahi to die in prison”. Why did he not object at the time of the Prisoner Transfer Agreement when it’s sole purpose was to free the man into the hands of Libya? Because he would have gone to a Libyan prison?... Continue reading

It was the UK Government that was negotiating with Libya; it was Blair and Straw who set up the prisoner transfer agreement (Megrahi being the only Libyan in a Scottish prison) with no reference to Edinburgh; and BP was pushing for Megrahi to be freed through these negotiations. And had... Continue reading

If a "progressive coalition" is pulled together and as a necessary part of that Alex Salmond and the SNP / PC group of nine MPs are involved then don't expect them to be selfish wreckers. Sure there will be demands to be met but the specific SNP demands will not... Continue reading

Over at the Spectator, Fraser Nelson post at tweet that highlights the significant Conservative majority in England. Why? Is he saying that without Scoland in the equation Cameron would be in No 10 now? Yet the Spectator is the most anti-SNP magazine. If the Scots start getting ideas above their... Continue reading

"Cameron offers Clegg all party committee on electoral reform, priority for lower taxes for the less well off + green economy promise" says a BBC report. "An all-party committee on electoral reform" - well that's one for the long grass then! Continue reading

I hope Brown will spend the next few days trying to work up a deal with Clegg and hopefully he, or his successor, will succeed and that the deal will be predicated on electoral reform. I have no love for Labour but, hopefully, this will mean the last post for first past the post. It's just simply obscene that Labour can take 70% of seats in Scotland with 42% of the vote.
