Nothing is better then a new user interface, especially if you want to distract your subscribers from the fact you offer the fewest streaming channels in the industry at 37. Of course there are VOD options available anywhere, but the live streaming is the holy grail of the industry, and it seems content on hiding it inside the house. I am a fan of streaming don’t get me wrong, I just run into a wall trying to figure out why someone would steam channels to there IOS device when they are in their house with all those televisions. When I think of streaming the picture that comes to my head is when I get off work at Dish and I am waiting 45 minutes for my bus, I use my sling adapter with the help of the Dish Remote Access app to stream all of my live channels and recorded show off of 3G, 4G or the local hot spot which is right across from my bus stop.

Cox should be proud of themselves they did a great job on the user interface for the 37 channels they stream to an IOS device in the house only. Granted of course they do offer VOD content anywhere just like the rest of the industry, but they keep the holy grail of streaming locked up. Well it is sure a good looking user interface they have now, I bet it has made a difference in finding shows on those 37 channels of live streaming. I think they could have checked the guide on the television since you can only stream live channels in the house. This has been the normal practice for the cable industry, they offer VOD content anywhere, but keep live streaming channels in the house. The Pandora app is a great addition to the apps on the Hopper. Although I don’t have the same issues as you Shaun, I can understand your pain in having to listen to hip hop. I am a huge fan of the Hopper and all the apps and features that Dish has added. One of my favorites is the Primetime Anytime feature that records the entire primetime block from the big four networks and gives me access to it for 8 days. Recently I learned when leaving after my shift at Dish that we had released a new feature called Auto Hop; this feature works with Primetime Anytime and assists me in skipping the commercials in a recording if I want to. Anytime I can press one button to skip them verses doing it manually, I am for it.
Dish adds Pandora to Hopper Whole-Home DVR system
Tired of walking from room to room, bringing your Entourage with you via your minty fresh Dish Hopper? Well, now you can sit down, relax and enjoy a hot cup of your favorite tunes from the same box. Dish has introduced the popular Pandora music service into its Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR System...
It’s like you read my mind Shaun; I don’t know how you do it. The Pandora app has come in quite handy after my poker party last week. Cleaning with Metallica always makes the windows shake in the house next-door. Pandora is just one of many apps on the Hopper; for instance, I used the facebook app to update my status after I cleaned house on the poker table and 10 people liked it. When I finished my shift at Dish last week I learned of a new feature called Auto Hop; it let’s me decide if I want to watch the commercials or not when I watch my recordings from Primetime Anytime. It also came in quite handy to watch my football player friend cry when his favorite contestant was booted off The Voice.

I am glad you like the Pandora app, Shaun; it is always good to find something the whole family can enjoy and it looks like the Hopper helped you achieve that. I am right there with you in the praise for the Hopper; most definitely, it is one of the best Whole Home Solutions I have seen on the market. Dish recently launched a brand new feature as well that I learned about the day it was released. Known as Auto Hop, the feature will automatically skip the commercials in any show recorded by Primetime Anytime. Even working at Dish I couldn’t have imagined this feature myself, but sure enough now there it is and when I watch those recordings the next day I can answer one question and skip the commercials. It makes me feel like a time traveler. .

Just an update to the Hopper, even after all the updates last month with Pandora, and doubling the space Dish Continues to throw new features at us. Now they have released the Auto Hop feature that work with Primetime Anytime. This feature asks subscribers at the beginning of the playback if they would like to skip the commercials during this show, once Yes is pressed nothing else needs to be done until the next show is started. This is one the best feature that has been added to the Hopper, especially since we all skip commercials unless we forget to hit the button. Now when I fall asleep half way through a show, I will not have strange dreams about chicken being for dinner tonight.
Dish Hopper whole-home DVR review
A new DVR with a never-before-seen feature doesn't come around every day, and if it's the sort of amenity that works in every room of the house, without compromise, then we just have to review it. What would make the list? Try the Dish Hopper whole-home DVR, which can record six shows at onc...
Just an update to The Hopper; after updating the receiver with the Pandora music app, and increasing hard drive space to 500 hours of HD recording space for subscribers. Dish has made the Primetime Anytime feature even better! I found out last week when I arrived for my night shift for Dish at the Phoenix call center. The Auto Hop feature was released too much fan fare and it has made my PTAT show even better by giving the option of having them skipped by a single button, finally no more dreaming about George Foreman cooking me burgers in my kitchen, but he makes a mean burger.

Indeed the Pandora app will be a music lover’s favorite app on The Hopper, I even get some Pandora time in when I am cleaning the house after one of our epic sport parties, and of course, the Hoppe comes in handy for as well with the picture in picture. After everyone leaves though I can start getting caught up on the primetime shows I miss through the week with the Primetime Anytime feature that gives me access to all of those shows for 8 days. Now it has gotten even better, as I found out last week when I arrived for my night shift for Dish at the Phoenix call center. There have been more then just that one good review about the Hopper, where I could see the difference in color on the guide being a good call, the more I use my Hopper the more I like the clean look of the user interface, but other than that I agree with everything you are saying there. The biggest draw for me was the Primetime Anytime feature, it will automatically record prime time from the big four networks and give me access to them for 8 days. I still think it is one of the best features on the Hopper, even above Pandora and Facebook. I love the Hopper; it has been getting better almost daily since I got the receiver. I don’t think any competitor’s receiver can hold a candle to it. We're still not sure what inspired Dish Network to choose a kangaroo theme for its new multiroom DVR setup -- going as far as bringing out a live baby 'roo during its CES 2012 unveiling -- but if there's room in your home and heart for the Hopper (XiP813) and Joey (XiP110) boxes, they're avail...
The Hopper in my eyes is the best Whole Home Solution on the market today, and I agree Jason, the HR-34 doesn’t stack up to well to everything in the Hopper, like the now 5oo hours of HD recording per Hopper. I have to agree, The Hopper is a great receiver that is packed full of even better features that take it far above any competitors DVR system. The Hopper is one of the best products released so far this year. It is good that you will not have to fight with your wife anymore Jason, that is never good to do over the television. Did you get your install done yet Gman? I hope so because I would not want to think that you would have to miss one of the best-featured whole home solution to be released yet. I hope you have been enjoying those Hoppers Jason, I will be happier when the Hoppers are talking to each other, but still its nice to have the best receivers in your house. I was the same way about wanting to try Primetime Anytime out as well when I received my installation back in April; I still think it is one of the best features on the Hopper, even above Pandora and Facebook. I was happier then a pig in mud when my Hopper was installed, the tech did an outstanding job getting everything set up including the DLNA. I know what you mean Jason; my Joey’s I stashed behind the flat screens on the wall mount, you cannot even tell anything is there. I love the Primetime Anytime feature as well; I have not found any better way to catch every show I want to watch and then some and have access to them for 8 days after airing. How have you been enjoying your Hopper Jason and did your install go ok? I got a tech that new everything about the Hopper when I got my installed, he even got the DLNA working through the house. It took me a while to figure the Hopper mascot out as well, but I do like your analogy of it Jason. I would not mind seeing that side by side as well. I have read mixed reviews on the HR34 and only good reviews about the Hopper. I had my Hopper installed in April and I love it. My favorite feature is the Primetime Anytime, as you said it records everything from primetime so I can watch what I want up to 8 days after airing. I totally agree Jason; the Hopper is an outstanding DVR receiver. The Primetime Anytime feature is my favorite out of all of them including Pandora. I have about 40% less DVR timers and no conflicts during primetime now. I have access to a lot more show for 8 days after they air and I can stay in the proverbial loop. I got my hopper installed two weeks after it was released and you are still waiting Bob? You have more will power then I, and I give you props. I really dig the Primetime Anytime feature the most because I work nights at Dish and it records 90% of the shows I want to watch. Where I used to miss shows because of DVR conflicts with my wife, I don’t have those anymore so I get to watch more shows from the big four networks when I want, well up to 8 days after airing anyway. Even better, last Thursday I learned about the Auto Hop feature; apparently it will ask you if you want to skip through the commercials in he show you are watching and if you say yes it will. So when I got home Friday morning I tried it, and it worked just like I was told it would. At least that morning when I got to fall asleep on the sofa half way through the show I had a dream about Fringe and not one about being a piece of bacon in a pan, it smells good but burns still burn in a dream.

That is quite the list of features there Shaun, you must have taken some time to learn the Hopper that well. I like the increased recording space, between my wife and I we can fill a hard drive up in no time. Personally I don’t like the Sirius XM channels, but the Pandora app is just the music I like to listen to on the station I customized. Still the number 1 feature for me is the Primetime Anytime feature, since I work nights at the Dish call center in Phoenix I have to record everything I want to watch and seeing how 90% of the shows are primetime shows this works perfectly. Even better, last Thursday I learned about the Auto Hop feature; apparently it will ask you if you want to skip through the commercials in he show you are watching and if you say yes it will. So when I got home Friday morning I tried it, and it worked just like I was told it would. At least that morning when I got to fall asleep on the sofa half way through the show I had a dream about Fringe and not one about winding up in diapers again, but at least they don’t leak.

I am very glad that they are staying on top of the bugs Shaun because I have also been going through the same on my Hopper, but I expected bugs with a brand new receiver so it was nothing shocking. The doubling of recording space for subscribers is great, I know my wife will like that, but the Primetime Anytime feature is still my favorite feature; since I work nights in the Dish call center in Phoenix I get a lot of use out of that particular feature. When I arrived at work last Thursday I learned about the Auto Hop feature; apparently it will ask you if you want to skip through the commercials in he show you are watching and if you say yes it will.
