Mississippi Delta
Josh served as a caregiver to his grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer’s for 8 years. This has been a sad, but rewarding experience. Caring for his grandmother has really opened his eyes to how difficult it can be to care for a loved one’s declining health, and the experience has given him empathy for others who are also dealing with a similar experience. Josh received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in May 2019. He has a passion for helping others with whatever mental instabilities they may be suffering from, and also caring for his grandmother has definitely influenced his decision to study Psychology. He has been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. He returned to Delta State in the fall of 2019 and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling. When he is not caring for his grandmother or studying, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, playing with his dog Noaa, and researching or forecasting the weather. He enjoys creating forecasts for his online blog, and sharing them to social media for his many followers. He has been creating his own forecasts on social media since 2012. He creates original forecasts through analyzation and interpretation of various weather data. His weather forecasts cover the Mississippi Delta, and his weather forecasting skill has been endorsed by Meteorologist Zach Hatcher, who is a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin. He is also a member of the American Meteorological Society. In addition, he is a Certified Storm Spotter with the National Weather Service in Jackson, MS. He was recently offered a weather anchor position at The Delta News by Meteorologist Christopher Mathis, but due to Josh’s schedule, he unfortunately had to decline the offer. He also served as a Biological Science Aid at the United States Department of Agriculture for two non-consecutive years. He gained a great deal of work experience and learned many facts related to plant biology. Recently, he returned to the USDA part-time as a Biological Science Aid. In September 2020, Josh became the weather forecaster for The Enterprise-Tocsin newspaper in Indianola, MS. Josh’s purpose is to provide more than just another platform to receive basic weather information, but to go more in depth for those interested in the nuts and bolts behind the forecast. Hopefully, you’ll learn something about weather and meteorology through Josh’s discussions. His primary goal is to keep his followers safe with our wild, Mississippi weather!…God bless!
