This bear was made for a special baby girl to be born sometime in May.......this little girls name is Dylan Bird! Her middle name is special because her dad's nickname is Greybird and the mom and dad to be thought she needed the same name as her daddy.........so sweet! I had just enough of this old piece of chenille to make the head, body and arms........cut up a piece of an old white satin quilt for the legs and some grey linen for the face and bib area....and another piece of mustard colored linen for her headband knot~! A little felt pocket envelope to hold a gift card, jewelry, money etc......just putting a few things out there for possible classes to get some feed back on what everyone is wanting to make.... I have been working on a little gift for a special little girl and after the shower this next weekend I will show you the entire photo of this special gift!!!! Can you believe this , I think we are up and running once again........keeping my fingers crossed........ the last 3 weeks have been frustrating without any kind of internet .......it's amazing how much though you can get accomplished! My threads needs to be replenished ......something that I thought would last forever but I have kept busy stitching away. But at least for today I can post a few photos . I am truly frustrated with this computer technology stuff.........still no photos will upload and it is about to make me change computers and throw this one away........never have I had this much trouble, even after contacting the cable company, the IT guy at my husbands work ( I was on the phone for 3 hours this morning) plus the typepad people.......so I apologize that it's been a while since my last posting but hang in there with me, if I don't pull out all of my hair before we get this thing fixed............. Wow I can finally post some photos from the last two weeks......Don't know what really has happened but it is working right now and I am going for it.... After a couple months of not having fresh flowers on my kitchen island I thought it was time to change that situation....so yesterday while I was out picking up a few things I decided to head over to Trader Joe's and see what they had to offer.....as usual they had a big selection and these came home with me........a little bright never hurts to have around! here so far on my new project from yesterdays find... I have not been shopping in so long that today I thought it would be a great idea to go check out one of our local quilt shops......guess what..... this beautiful mini hanging caught my eye right away and I just had to get it....one good thing it was a kit so all of the wool, velvet and beads were all included! The past 3 weeks have been a blurrrrrrr.........so we are starting the New Year in thankful and positive ways...... Well you never know what will happen in this world each day........I usually don't share a lot of personal things on the blog but just wanted to give all who knows what has been going on the last couple weeks in our life.... If you like making a mess this one is for you.......take a roll of brown kraft paper or you can use a grocery bag turned inside out ....... make a template out of anything sturdy enough to use with paint , or if you have a stencil you already have would be perfect......paint randomly all over the kraft paper.....then with a stamp like the curly q add a little whimsy.....then splatter some gold paint with a paint brush to add some sparkle......let it all dry then with a sharpie I outlined the holly leaves and berries to give a little... This fabric is another one of Cathe Holden's Flea Market lines from Moda......I absolutely love it and you can really do so much with it......as you can see I have pieced some of it and started to do some fun embroidery stitches to add a little dimension........at the end I have a bigger piece I have been working on and it has more details than when I started the one above............. Sometimes when you pick up a package of bags from places like Tuesday Morning, Marshalls, Joann's sale bins etc. they sometimes have defects.........that is what happened when I opened these really cute Christmas bags several years back........the handles were missing on one side or just hanging there ...........so I decided to cut them entirely off and use them like the photos....by using tape along the top just in the middle it left the two sides loose.......so I had some wide ribbon to tie around the outer edge of this bag and brought it up to the top and just added... The traditional Christmas red with a little hot pink and orange mixed in........here we have a ready made stand up box you can get just about anywhere.....a little DIY garland made out of scrapbook circles ........ a little instruction at the end of the post......also some fresh cut greenery from the yard once again and some recycled Christmas Ribbon with Merry Christmas in gold glitter.......the next photos are how you can dress this plain red box up or down...
