Hey Jourdan,
This is Jocelyn, the instructor who was in for Joy at the end of your class this last semester. I was not sure how to get in touch with you so letting you know this way... I am teaching the Art 143/Indesign - though called Digital Design/Publishing class next semester. It would be great if you can join me!

Your best friend calls you and tells you he/she's really sick? How do you show you care?

This was a tough guy to cover in so little time. Art historians could talk about him all semester, alone, without any other artists. The images were a good arrangement and variety of what he does.
Nice work!

First abstract oil painting-Etude: Red-Violet (Christmas Shopping) (1935) Abstract line drawing (series) (1936) Geometric abstractions (series) Repetition Against Blue (1943) Black and white study of Homage to the Square (series) (1949) Homage to the Square (series) (1950)
This looks promising. Thanks for going forward with a storyboard.

Ya, I gave you a good grade for this. What are you doing for this semester?
last years stop motion lol!
Bravo!
the mesh project
Nicole, Your work on the curves with the pen tool looks like it needs a little help. If you find it will help with the project you are working on now, I have a tutorial on the class website to help or I can go over it with you. Call me over.
Here is the link for the tutorial online:

Ouch! Love where this is going. In any way is it a biography?

I most like the two tone yellow's effect on the illusionism here. Well done!

Bravo Alex. You really got into this assignment, I can tell. The word HORNET does take away from the quality of the graphic bec. the wording is so "messy." I recommend taking it off for a better grade.
However, as far as picking out the key elements and saving yourself a little time, you really choose well, excluding things that are not as obvious.
Great work overall.
Mesh Project
Here is the Hornet I did in Illustrator. The photo first then the mesh
You mostly have this but the length of the snow flakes' tips are off. Also, looking at the curves on the central icon, I wonder how much curve is there.
Icons Recreation
The Bottom image is the one I recreated.
My only concern with this project is the whale looks "real" for all the detail work you put into it but the boat does not. The boat looks good for the overall composition, but it is also more of the focal point bec. it is brighter.

Thanks for putting these up, even though you are not doing this story. Story boarding is a great way to get your ideas together...even to show you that you do not have enough time to do everything.
Storyboard
Lourdes, With the addition of the fish's environment, at first glance there is hardly a difference. This is a great success on your part. A reminder though, people go to the eyes of almost anything first, so if anything is different in the face, that will be noticed. In your case, the smile you slightly added to your stands out a slight bit. Otherwise, this is pretty much perfect! Great work.

This is gorgeous. I love all the different elements and styles, yet very minimal palette. That makes for a strong emphasis when the color does show up!
Eden of the East ending
Here's a really cool stop-motion video, if anyone is interested. I'm doing a book, but I thought this was interesting to watch.
Copyright Law and Fair Trade Use of Found Photographs
Though in my classroom I do condone some use of found photographs, the law for doing so in educational institutions is more supported than it seems. Check out this law: FAIR TRADE (excerpt) Section 107 contains a list of the various purposes for which the reproduction of a particular work... Continue reading

No InDesign
Sadly, I got my hand slapped regarding InDesign. We can not use it AT ALL on the machines here at ECC so unless you have it on your laptop or computer at home, we will be moving forward on storyboarding in Illustrator. :( Continue reading

As I told everyone, the text does not matter here but otherwise, Sheree looks great! Additionally, I have not said this at all yet, been meaning to though, the background to your blog is so rad! I love that is is so personal and a white backdrop so your body to your blog (the template) gets blended into it. The confusing line between the two is a good thing!
