Great news! Good for Typepad!
Typepad Does Make Exceptions
Yea! After my post and tweet about the policy stated in their Help section, Typepad contacted me and said they do make exceptions to that rule. I'm happy to say that I received my refund and that my old blog archives have been downgraded to a free Microblog. That means I don't have much choice a...
Good luck Robin!
I added your new site to Google Reader so I will be able to keep up on your bloggings.
Typepad Keeps the Money?
So, I am doing a redesign of my web site and moving to a WordPress platform. One week before I made that decision, Typepad charged my credit card for a year's service in advance. Foolishly, I made an assumption that I would be refunded for the months not used. But now I read in the Help files th...
That is awful! I am so sorry they did that!
Good luck with Wordpress from a died-in-the-wool Blogger blogger.

Happy 2013 Robin!
2012 Reflections & My Word for 2013
The Mayan calendar, so it would seem, was wrong. The earth keeps turning, and we are still on it. For a number of Decembers, I have made it a practice on my Write Thinking blog to recap the year that is ending and then to share the word the Lord has given me for the coming year. I see no reason ...
Merry Christmas Robin! Pray that it is filled with joy!
Christmas Memories & a Prayer for You
First Confession: I miss the Christmases when my daughters were little and we were up in the wee hours of the morning to open presents. I miss the excitement and anticipation. I miss the hubbub of it all. Second Confession: I was the one who was too excited to sleep. I would be up at 3:00 or ...
I thought that the scenes of her older age gave the movie some substance and reality. Not sure that a rah-rah-isn't-she-great movie would have been all that interesting. My thoughts on the flick are at http://www.kansasbob.com/2012/06/iron-lady.html
Words to Live By
I've been a writer for 30+ years. Started in the cradle, obviously. (Okay, stop laughing.) But I can't claim that I understood the power of story, the importance of written words, until I'd been writing for over a decade. That's when I read the mainstream release of Francine Rivers' Redeeming L...
I did like, and do like, your FB page Robin. Feel free to like mine at https://www.facebook.com/KansasBobBlog.
Have a great weekend!
Are We Connected?
No, I don't mean by birth or by marriage. I mean, are we connected on Facebook? I sure hope so because that's the place where I meet daily with family, friends, readers, and other writers. I love sharing great photographs that I come across online and some maybe not so great photos that I take m...
Sometimes there are no upsides to pain except the possibility of helping others who are also in pain. Yet these are usually not interested unless when we first bear our pain to them.
Capitalize on Your Pain
No one likes to suffer loss or face troubling circumstances, yet painful times produce the most fertile learning soil. Think about it. When we are happy, we don't often ask "why" and desire things to change. We want things to stay as they are. We think quite the opposite when things don't go our...
I will miss you Keith! I know that your keyboard has not been smokin as of late but I remember when it did. You and Matt were one of my first friends in the Blogosphere and I want you to know that you will be missed.
Feel free to add a blog post to KansasBob.com whenever you need a place to opine.
Also feel free to fly to KC if you need a real place to opine. :)
Taking 'em down
Saying goodbye to blogging. As soon as I save this blog, I'll be cancelling my typepad subscription and removing these blogs. It was fun. It's not anymore...and I don't want to be charged for what's not fun! Yeeha into whatever's next!
Can totally relate Keith. Losing it before God is so transcendent and sometimes healing.
Good Tears
The past 2 or more years have a been a rough time for me. Lots of loss and difficulty. Areas in my life where I need healing: physically, mentally and spiritually. I know I'm not alone in this. Last night I drove the nearly 4 hours to Grand Rapids from my home so as to attend the Calvin Symposiu...
We looked at tablets recently. I thought that Ann my enjoy it as she loves her Nook and it is easy to use in a wheelchair. She nixed the tablet as it does not read as well as her Nook that uses e-ink. And I'd rather use my smartphone for connectivity as I do not carry a purse or a European man bag. :)
I Want to Stay Ahead of the Game
My mom retired about five years before I bought my first computer. When I got it, I offered to teach her how to use it. She refused. I always felt bad about that, especially once email became the chief way of communication. I was reminded of this last night at our HOA meeting when one retirement...
Happy 2012 Robin! Hope this new year find you experiencing much love, joy and peace!
Fear Not!
Happy New Year, Writes Thinking friends! Isn't it great the way a new year seems to open our eyes to fresh opportunities and second chances? As I shared in my 2011 Reflections post on Write Thinking, I make goals for a new year rather than resolutions. For some reason, "goals" don't seem to set...
Giving thanks for you Robin on this Thanksgiving day!
Happy Thanksgiving
Dropping by to say I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving, filled with good food eaten in the company of those you love. And may we all be truly thankful, today and throughout the coming year. ~robin
I don't get it either.
A Tuesday Rant: 72 Days of Wedded Bliss?
So I was sick for an entire week. Too under the weather to read magazines or blogs. Too miserable to watch the news. Thus I missed the announcement that Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce from Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage. 72 days? Okay, so I'm not surprised. There have been short...
Good stuff Robin. Obedience is an issue of the heart and, in the moment, often does not make sense to our head.
But I Will Do as You Say
Jerry and I joined a new (to us) small group Sunday afternoon. Our church is doing an eight week study of the book of Titus, and we had a very good discussion on the questions put to us in the videos. One question went something like: What does authentic faith look like? This morning in my Bibl...
Thanks Dana. Good to know that Scot does not make that delineation but I am still confused. When Scot speaks of the church do you think he means the Body of Christ or something else?
Social justice apart from the church not 'kingdom work,' author says

Always troubling when religious leaders make such a hard-line delineation between the secular and the sacred. If God calls a believer to defend the poor in the public sector then it should be considered a sacred call.

Apparently, after answering 4 questions it has been determined:
Your Blogging Type is Confident and Insightful.
You've got a ton of brain power, and you leverage it into brilliant blog. Both creative and logical, you come up with amazing ideas and insights. A total perfectionist, you find yourself revising and rewriting posts a lot of the time. You blog for yourself - and you don't care how popular (or unpopular) your blog is!
Not sure that I would go that far. :)
My Blogging Personality; Who Knew I Had One?
I got this from Angela Hunt who got it from Cindy Swanson (whose blog I read but the feed for her blog only gives a few opening lines so sometimes I miss good stuff if I don't click through). I like having an "Artistic and Passionate" blogging type. Your Blogging Type is Artistic and Passiona...
My wife loves her Nook - eBooks really are great for folks in wheelchairs. Ann was able to buy several books while she was hospitalized recently because the hospital had wifi. Wonder if book stores and libraries will be around in 20 years?
Who Reads/Buys More Books? Bookworms with eReaders!
Fabulous graphic illustration (which came from Visual.ly) of who is reading more and buying more books nowadays. I know this has proven true for me. Getting the Kindle (and this would go for any eReader) has me reading more books each year and buying more books by far each year. Sometimes I am g...
Loved seeing her this week on AGT. Also was glad to see Landau win the competition.
Music That Stirs Your Soul
If you don't watch America's Got Talent during the summer months, perhaps you missed Jackie Evancho, the 10-year-old singing prodigy who came in second in 2010. She returned to the AGT stage during this year's finals, taller, more polished, and yet still this charming young lady that amazes wi...
I love The Closer. Lt Provenza is my favorite.. perhaps because he reminds me of me a bit. :)
The Closer: Great TV
It's no secret that I am a huge fan of The Closer. I love the characters, especially Brenda Leigh Johnson, played by Kyra Sedgwick. I love that we got to meet a heroine who married a real hero-type of man and who has a solid, loving marriage. I love the humor. The summer season will end this com...
Congrats Robin!
Belonging Arrives in Stores
It's always great fun when a new book begins showing up in stores around the country. And that time has arrived for Belonging. At least it has made it's way to Amazon.com and other online stores which is a pretty good sign that it should be on store shelves too. Here are a few links for online...
Hope the retreat is/was very special.
Hitting the Road
It's retreat time. I am SO ready to get together with my writer friends. Yes, we work hard. We'll be brainstorming nine novels (at least). But our time together has become so very much more than that. These women are essential in my life. I would wish quality friendships like these for everyon...
Thanks for the review Robin.
I'd Rather Write Hope
I watched a very strange movie last week, Never Let Me Go, based on an acclaimed sci-fi novel (I assume of the same name). It was dark, disturbing, depressing, hopeless while at the same time being wonderfully made and acted. (Warning if you want to see it: There is some nudity/sex and coarse ...
Enjoyed this Keith. Well done.
Luther and Spiritual Nurture
So I've been reading Luther's Prayers by um...well...Martin Luther. These prayers come from his reflections on the Lord's Prayer. Today, with prayer #55, I've gotten to his prayers that elaborate on the 4th petition, 'Give us today our daily bread'. This first of Luther's prayers in this section...
