Removing duplicate events and alarms in iCal
As the developers of BusySync, we see a lot of legacy iCal calendars from customers that are filled with cruft. These calendars might contain malformed data due to syncing with who-knows-what app/service/device in the past. The most common problems we see are duplicate alarms, duplicate events,...
good luck hot thang
Wish me luck
I start my new job in 20 minutes. I'm not I I I I I start my new job in 15 minutes. I'm not nervous but it's exciting to be someplace new after 12 years. Sometimes when I'm learning something new and find it difficult I start to hate it. My 8yo is like that too and I try to coach him through it. ...
Congrats kiddos!
Karate Kids
Some families are really good at sport. Their children do lots of sporting extra murals and they spend their Saturdays driving from one match to the other. Us - not so much. I fear my kids might have inherited my sporting abilities - which probably means a future of being relegated to the E te...
coochie snorcher haircuts are equally important to be noticed as much as your lady's hair-do.
also, that Van Kapeghian guy sounds kick ass
Dangerous Letters, Vol. 11
Update: My husband is an asshole. This news probably comes as a surprise to him since he just gave me 3 mind-bending orgasms of varying sorts. However, he made the mistake of making the post-coital comment that he did not notice any difference between my freshly waxed and previously shaven girl...
Goddammit is what you say when your mom makes you take a water balloon to the testicles.
Top 10 Things that Have Made Me Laugh Lately
In tribute to the long weekend, where I got to spend more time with my family than I typically do in a month, I'm going to share with you some of the things they've done lately that made me laugh out loud. 1) My sister-in-law sent my husband a guilt-trip laden email. She sent it to me to pass a...
you have to bludgeon leprechauns with sticks to get their gold.
my birthday is st. patrick's day - true story
You don't have to believe in Leprechauns...
But don't ever make fun of them, because they could be listening. That gem was courtesy of my Irish Great Grandmother. You're welcome. I told this next story on Twitter so if you've heard it already I'm sorry but it's too good not to share. The mother of a man I work with works with a woman who...
I wonder if anyone has every tried Bump Patrol or those other ingrown hair treatments down there
Bush Whacking
The first time I tried shaving "down there" was in college. I'd gotten a vibrator from my boyfriend and then they started sending catalogs every week. I'm going to go out on a limb and admit that SOME of the porn writeups turned me on. I KNOW, they are BEYOND dumb and are SO OBVIOUSLY targett...
well... he did at least buckle up the keg for safety
UPDATE! Vandal: FAIL
UPDATE: Dan Flannery, who was originally accused by Canadian writer Pat Hickey as the guy who stole his license plate on Sunday, says he just posted the picture of the stolen plate on Facebook, but it wasn't him who stole it... hmm. Philly.com reported the story initially, but has since change...
welcome back, get that inbox down to around 400 and then post us some details :)
Holidaze
Guess where I've been?? On holiday! In what has been the fastest week of my life, Marko, the kids and I have went away for a week's holiday. It was absolutely fantastic. Way too short. Will fill you in shortly. As soon as I have responded to the 732 unread emails in my inbox and done the 5 loa...
take all the post-its, do it. hey on another note, are any other readers getting prompted to log in to twitter when reading this blog? i'm getting a funky prompt the past couple days
The Nine
Nine years ago I was a simple man. The big day was blustery, but very pleasant. My fiancée and prepared for a life ahead as husband and wife. We had a lovely time with 25 of our closest friends and family. We got married and have lived happily ever after. Well, not quite. Life isn't a D...
this is excellent news amigo! i'm sure you're full of worry and anxiety with this big change, but you're a talented dude - you will rock this party
Every Person Has Their Story
Well this time it seems official. My nearly nine year run at my current company will come to a screeching halt May 7th, three days after my 37th birthday. This was announced to me last Wednesday at the end of the day. I had no clue it was in the works until my boss booked a One-on-One with me...
it's a shame when folks outside a healthy childhood swoop in and judge. you love your family, it's plain to see :)
Letting even more people raise my kids
As if it is not bad enough that I have a nanny, I have now put the twins in after-care - is there no end to the bad mothering?? I have always had a 'thing' about after-care. Before the kids went to school, I had visions of the children in after-care sitting quietly and sadly in a room, counting...
wow, it's a year already! congrats!
As I was saying...
So as I was saying.... I met a lovely chap on the plane. He was very sweet but my husband says it is not appropriate for me to talk about lovely chaps I meet on the plane so that is the end of the story. Re BA - FANTASTIC service, am going to write a letter to BA to tell them how fab they were. ...
knob - ha! that's great. oh and someone said my favorite NZ word - plonker!
The Knob Blogs
I am updating this blog out of fear. I got a very threatening email today about my lack of blog updates. It was very scary! Kind of. Ok, not really. It was from my sister and it said the following: Hey lady, update your frikking blog please. So here I am! Hi. I've been away for the last we...
adorable!
Can you see the resemblance?
but entirely cute
Those horns are not entirely inappropriate
beautiful, very beautiful
Repaid with Scorn
Had a great outing with my friend Gwyn Michael last week at an abandoned location. Will post more shots and actual writing this week. xo
don't fret about it, that's my advice. do what you want/need to do. i quit touring (as a frustrated musician) when i became a dad. you know what's right and that little one is what is most important. some younger parents want to be able to not change at all after the pitter patter of feets arrives, but kids change you and all in good ways.
The Virtue
I do, I do, I do. I do love blogging. This much I know is true. I think the community is fascinating, I enjoy reading people's posts, and the open dialogue blogging promotes. Recently a bunch of bloggers banded to together to pay a fellow blogger's unpaid vet bills. Where else do you find that? W...
jesus. i would not have been able to sit through that. the officers of the court would be busy removing his teeth from the soles of my boots after seeing one second of that
My Private Area (pt. 2)
For two solid weeks, we heard testimony from prosecution witnesses. The key witnesses for the prosecution were the two victims, the family friend who finally alerted the authorities back in October of 2008, and Seattle police officers. The witnesses were interesting to say the least. One witness ...
that letter from 1980... wow, what a sweet kid you were :)
The Spirit of Christmas (Part I)
My mother passed away a little over a week ago -on my birthday, to be exact (thanks, Mom)- and things over here are not going so great. I can't even nor do I want to even get into the emotional shit that me and my siblings are dealing with - wouldn't want to nick that vein publicly, but I think...
that weighs only a little less than a human head, at least according to that little kid from Jerry Maguire
"Need to Get Away?" Yeah - I kinda do.
Eight and a half pounds of inspiration.
I steer my kids away from guns, not that I have a problem with folks owning them. They just aren't part of my family.
Toy guns
When Sister Mel had her first child 13 years ago, she was quite an ethno-bongo (tree-hugger / granola type). She said that her son would not play with guns and there would be no toy guns in the house. However, it wasn't long before he was fashioning make-believe guns out of old marijuana branc...
Although it's hard for a male (ba dum dum ching) to separate the art versus "hey that's a naked chick!" you are creating some amazing stuff. i'm no photography expert whatsoever, but i do consider myself an artist and i get what you're doing. and although i've not met you, i imagine (mostly from talking to our mutual buddy, D Lish) that you are your art, you're honest.
ergo, my guess is that it might upset some family members, but they know it's you and whatever bone in their body that jerks into an "that's obscene" kick is quelled by your honesty.
Baring it All
So! Formspring.me. Yeah, I got all excited about it, put a widget over there in the sidebar (no, other side) so you could ask me “anything.” I said I hoped to get fodder for blog posts. And I did. I did get fodder for blog posts. But I was busy that minute so I didn’t answer right away. The...
got my vote :)
The 2010 Bloggies
Cool! Haven't done one of these for AGES! Didn't think anyone read my blog anymore ;-) I've been nominated for a 2010 bloggies award - Best African Blog. Go vote for me now or else I will cast a spell on you and turn you into a hyena. People will laugh and point at you. (Good thing is, yo...
ouch! poor guy
My day was interesting, how was yours?
This afternoon, in the middle of a meeting I suddenly heard a loud thud followed by a yell. Adam had fallen and bumped his head. It is always difficult to tell whether Adam is seriously hurt because Adam is rather fond of regular and intense crying. I put him on my lap and soothed him (in othe...
