Torture museum not all that bizarre a concept ... the Black Tower, in London, is essentially that and I have to say, it's one of the most interesting (and macabre) museums in the UK. The bounds of human ingenuity at its most disturbing.

Is the drive down to the Cape as terrifying as I remember it? It was yonks and yonks ago for me (my family is mostly based in Johannesburg, so my visits tend to be centred there rather than Cape Town), but I recall that winding cliffside road to be a dizzyingly precarious thing ...
