Lucky you! I'm so jealous! Right now it's 2:00 pm in Quebec and it's got -4 C !!!
Back to Summer!
What if Christmas is round the corner? In Cyprus, the whims of the weather take us back to summer with temperatures rising from 25 to 28 C inland and on the coast while in the mountains it's only got 15C. This is the kind of weather I wish we could have throughout the year. It's neither hot nor ...
I believe that positive thinking is a prerequisite for positive action.
Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining
As most of you know, this is my favourite quote. I always tend to think positive even when I feel hopeless. I never see my glass half-empty - it's always half-full. In my life, I've been through a lot of hardships, yet I always thought they were a blessing in disguise. My father used to tell me ...
When I think positive , I honestly don't imagine the perfect me for one simple reason: only God is perfect. Thinking positive doesn't mean ignoring setbacks. It means considering setbacks positively...seeing the best instead of the worst has helped me face a lot of difficulties effectively.

When I first came to live in Canada, October felt like January or February in Northern Greece! I guess this is freezing cold for you!!! For example, it's got 7C right now which is a very mild temp for Quebec. It took me a year to get used to it. Autmn is so beautiful in Quebec - I love the soft golden colors of the season and I don't find it sad at all!
To Autumn
Autumn hasn't forgotten us , after all. Yesterday was the very first autumnal day on the beautiful island of Aphrodite. It was a relatively sunny day - as usual - in the morning but soon it got terribly windy while white clouds were meeting up in an azure sky. No rain , though. It got kind of ch...
Best wishes to you and Alkis on your 30th anniversary. May the love that you share last your lifetime through. You are such a wonderful couple!
Celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary
Alkis and I got married on October 8, 1983 at the Greek Orthodox Church of Chambesy on the outskirts of Geneva, Switzerland - the country where we first met and fell in love. Considering we both work till late in the evening on Tuesday, October 8, we decided to celebrate this milestone in a ver...
On Sundays, we usually have a huge breakfast and go out with the baby - she's turned two now and really enjoys Sundays in the park.In the winter we often go skiing or stay at home watching movies or playing board games. Your living room looks so nice and elegant, by the way.
Always on Sundays
September has almost flown by in a flash, yet in sunny Larnaca we are still enjoying the summer with only a few autumnal hints such as the sudden downpour last Tuesday which lasted for over two hours. I was in my office at that time. As I looked out the window, I couldn't help a smile when I sa...
I practically grew up with fasolada. We'd mostly have the soup in which my mom added some potatoes as well. To this day it's still my favorite dish.
Monday's Greek Recipe - Fasolada 2 - Navy/White Beans in Tomato Sauce
Fasolada is such a popular dish in Greece that many consider it to be Greece's national dish and great, healthy comfort food! It consists of navy / white beans, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, parsley and tomato sauce. There are two versions of Fasolada. In September 2008, I posted a recipe o...
Oh là là!!!! This must have been a great cruise. Having read your post, I'd love so much to visit these islands in the Dodecanese. Your photos are worth more than a million words! Thanks for sharing. As for the cruise ship, it looks huge and impressive!
A Magical Cruise to the Greek Isles of the Dodecanese
Our four-day cruise to some of the most beautiful islands of the Dodecanese, Greece was a memorable one and, probably, one of the best summer holidays we''ve ever had so far. For me, it marked the end of my summer break as I'm going back to work on Monday to start preparing the new school year w...

It's got 20C right now in Quebec which is ... nice weather although we had some light rain as well. Ahhh...not really the Greek summer! Hope you enjoy your holiday. School here starts on August 28.
In August
Time has flown by in a flash since June 16 when school broke up. I had so many things to do: take a holiday on the magical island of Syros, , see good old friends I don't see very often when I work, blog more often, walk barefoot along the beach, swim, read books, cook, go shopping, play chess w...

When I read your Greek recipes, I miss home so much! I remember my grandma in Thrace preparing her very special kokkinisto for us and she still does, you know, when I go back home on vacation. In Quebec, there are some Greek restaurants but there's nothing like homemade cooking. I guess I must learn how to cook. I think I will try your recipe as it sounds easy hoping that hubby will eat it! :-)
Monday's Greek Recipe - Psaronefri Kokkinisto - Pork Fillet in Tomato Sauce and Cyprus Village Salad
Cooking is like blogging. Sometimes you are short of ideas or short of time or reluctant to put something on the grill for yet another day, or simply too lazy to try a complex recipe. There are days when you haven't planned your menu, take-away or delivery is not an option, yet you would like to...

What an awesome beach! Is it near your home?
July's Sweet Indolence
Have you ever felt the infinite pleasure of doing nothing but laze around or lie on the beach all day? Although I am, generally, a very active person, in July I recharge my batteries by indulging in indolence. I enjoy sleeping but I almost invariably get up at 7:00 am. I love having a siesta f...

I love your recipe so much! That's the kind of food I miss most from home. I'm not sure I can find fresh greek lavraki here in Canada, if I don't I guess I can use the chilean sea bass which is quite common here.
Monday's Greek Recipe - Lavraki sti Ladokola - Fresh Sea Bass in Baking Paper
Fresh fish and seafood constitute an important part of the Mediterranean diet, especially in the summer. All over the Greek islands but also in mainland Greece, fresh fish has its place of honour in almost every household. There are also many fish tavernas where you can choose your fish or seafo...
I once tried to blog on Blogger but all I managed to do was post some videos :-) Since high school, writing has never been my favorite subject! I am quite good at computers, though, but there is one thing on your blog I couldn't figure out. I have recently noticed that your handwritten signature appears at the end of your posts. It looks as if it was actually written in ... ink! How is that possible?
My Blogging Experience on Typepad
Typepad - the best blogging platform in the world - has recently celebrated its 10th birthday. I felt like celebrating with them because for me, the Typepad team are like family. I first heard about Typepad at my hairdresser's while browsing the Greek version of Marie-Claire. That was back in t...

Your post today has made me quite nostalgic about so many summer holidays spent in Greece with family and friends. Sounds like you and Alkis spent a terrific weekend. Great photos!
Long Holiday Weekend at Coral Bay , Paphos - Cyprus
To celebrate the end of yet another school year but also the festival of Kataklysmos which marks the day of the Holy Spirit, hubby and I spent a fantastic weekend in Paphos - the land of Aphrodite - the Greek goddess of Beauty and Love. Paphos is one of our favourite weekend destinations and we ...

Time Out - Protaras - June 2013
After a hectic month at the school, I felt I needed a break before starting to mark final exam papers, writing final reports and doing some more extra lessons for my Cambridge ESOL students in June. As you may know, I am incurably in love with Protaras. It's like a magic spell I'm unable to resi...
