So yesterday was Easter and it wasn't anything like the Easters I remember from my childhood. By this time of year (at least here in Southern California) we should be sporting shorts and flip flops, heading to the beach and complaining about what a hot summer we're going to have. It's cool and gloomy and often damp. I'm still wearing sweatshirts pretty much every day. Everyday I ask "where is the sun"? So for today's Much Ado about Monday, I went in search of spring. Bright, pretty, sunshiny spring. And because I have a current obsession with pretty wreaths, I'm looking for spring I can be greeted with a bit of spring everytime I walk in the door. I'm excited and a little nervous to announce that my first personal site, Kathi Kirchmeier dot com is now live for your viewing pleasure. This is the first of three sites I'm putting together for my business(es) and will serve as a sort of gateway to the other two. I know that sounds like a bit of overkill but since I am pursuing two separate endeavors, marketing communications and digital design, I needed a way to tie them together. Hence, Kathi Kirchmeier dot com. Continue reading

It's like a brand new notebook on the first day of school. A brand new box of crayons with their perfectly shaped points. It's a clean slate. Ready for you to create whatever you can imagine. No limits. No boundaries. No failures to weigh you down. It's fresh, clean and unspoiled. That's what the new year means to me. Continue reading

I'm sure most of you have seen the introduction for Googles 'newish' functionality -- photo-based search. It's pretty amazing. Snap a photo, do a search with that photo as the input, and get results. Check out this introductory video. Fun stuff! Continue reading

A couple of girlfriends and I are once again doing a little Holiday Trunk Show. Which is why I am just buried. I am in hyper-multi-tasking mode. Making holiday banners, little girl hair clips, rolled silk flowers and, of course, jewelry. Continue reading

There is a fun resource out there in the internet ether that many people aren't aware of. Self-publishing websites. Since I'm focused on all things creative here, I'm just going to share some links to crafty content but there is a wealth of stuff out there to satisfy everyone's interests. Continue reading

November for me is my month of gratitude. I'm creating my gratitude journal (which should have been done by Nov. 1 says The Voice in my Head), and each day I will write, and hopefully photograph, what I am most grateful for. Since I'm starting a day late, I'm going to share other Gratitude Journals that I've found around the web. Tomorrow I should be able to share mine. Continue reading

I can't believe how much great stuff is out there on the web. I'm on about a billion mailing lists so I am always coming across products that I would have never known existed, and certainly wouldn't think to go looking for, unless they landed in my inbox. Like an alien abduction lamp. Who would think to go looking for that? But when I saw it, it made me laugh so it's included here for your Much Ado enjoyment. Along with a few other gems that also made me smile. Or laugh. Hope they do the same for you! Continue reading

Today's Much Ado is about inspiration. I am constantly in need of, and therefore in search of, inspiration. In fact, it is such a vital spiritual food to me that it deserves to be shouted, not whispered. INSPIRATION. Continue reading

Today's "Much Ado About Monday" will focus on just one site. But what a site it is. Today it's all about Etsy. For those of you who have never heard of Etsy -- it's an amazing portal where you can find all things hand crafted. It allows independent crafters and artists to quickly and easily set up shop and start selling their beautiful hand crafted goodies to the world. Continue reading

Ah Monday. The most maligned day of the week. And I'm as guilty of it as anyone. Even now, when I don't have to get up and go to work in the morning, I still groan when Monday rolls around. Poor Monday! So to make Monday morning just a bit brighter, I'm starting a feature called "Much ado about Monday". Which has a two-fold purpose: first, to provide a little color, creativity and interest to your Monday mornings and two, to save me from having to come up with said color, creativity and interest on a day I'm barely able to function beyond drinking my coffee! I will be scouring the web for wonderfully stimulating, entertaining and inspiring sites to share with you. Yes, I will be relying on others to bring to the Monday morning table what I can't. LOL. Continue reading

I love love love this!! Can't imagine what this is going to do for the crafters of the world!! Thank you Teresa!
Backpacking Europe for almost four months when I was 19. The people I met, and have since reconnected with via Facebook (26 years later), the places I saw and, most of all, the life changing experience of traveling on my own will never leave me.
