Thanks for the birthday wishes!
The contest kit is finished
I completed the sign, after several attempts to get the lettering right, then crafted a bracket and hung it. I am finished! I need to take pictures with a proper backdrop for the submission, but I'm taking a break to just PLAY first. Thanksgiving (which also happens to be my 50th birthd...

Thank you both :)
progress report
I’ve spent most of the past few weeks working in my gardens, communing with the chipmunks and birds, but did get a bit accomplished on the build. Left wall: I finished bricking, then grouted, aged, and shadowed. I stained the boathouse door, applied layers of gloss medium to make faux wi...

I had a productive day yesterday. In the morning, while I was waiting for the sun to come out, I covered my computer equipment with a doubled over bedsheet, then cut the base board to prep for a pool. I added supports, then glued on a bottom. While that was drying I went to the beach to sear...
Having gratitude for small pleasures makes life enjoyable :)
You are making wonderful progress on the rug, it’s going to be stunning.
Ups and Downs
Little blessings seem to mean a lot more these days. I generally keep this blog apart from the messes of life -- not so much the little messes, dropped stitches or painting mis-steps or the knitting projects that just don't work no matter how many alterations one tries, those are all part of ...
That was a most enjoyable journey, thank you!
The Librarian and the Ligature
One of the things that appealed to me about the "Peace to My Friend" sampler is the beautiful old-fashioned alphabet with its unusual inclusion of a selection of ligatures, something that is rarely seen in samplers, old or new. As I approached it, though -- working as I am from the top downwa...
