Townhouse on site
My new “build” arrived while I was getting my gall bladder removed last week. My husband assembled it yesterday, in case I wanted to putter with it during my recovery. He is a doll. As is, I have five floors... Continue reading

Newer New plan
I’ve made a big decision about my last big build. I am not going to build it. I am going to use glass fronted cabinets. Also a reminder that I’m primarily on Instagram now. @iseecerulean Continue reading

a new plan
After months of looking at the mock-up foam-core room-boxes, I've decided to abandon the idea. It's not really what I want. It's settling. It's making do. I don't need to do that! I am going to build my townhouse from... Continue reading

Townhouse plans
I am giving up on contest builds. I just don’t have the room. I’ve disassembled most that I’ve built, and put the ocean themed builds into storage. I’ve decided to build a series of roomboxes sized to fit an existing... Continue reading

Yes, that's Freddy Mercury....and Kamala Harris. :)
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
The contest kit is finished
I completed the sign, after several attempts to get the lettering right, then crafted a bracket and hung it. I am finished! I need to take pictures with a proper backdrop for the submission, but I'm taking a break to just PLAY first. Thanksgiving (which also happens to be my 50th birthd...

Almost done
I’m almost done with the contest build, the only thing left on my to-do list is signage. Better pictures and explanatory text coming soon. The tide pool is very difficult to photograph. Continue reading

Tide pool - second layer
Mussels, sea stars, crabs, more anemone, and more resin. I may have glued the rocks down prematurely, but can slice them off if need be. Continue reading

Tide pool - first layer
I glued down the first layer of sea life into the bottom of the tide pools last weekend. It looks superfluously colorful and busy now, but keep in mind this is just the first level. Wednesday I poured the first... Continue reading

Two months
It’s been almost two months since I posted. I’ve worked on a post several times, with a preamble on the current societal situations...how I feel anxious about the future, scared for loved ones, angry at my fellow citizens, guilty for... Continue reading

Seascaping plans
Thinking through the tide pool seascaping... I am planning to build the seascape upward, in steps to match intertidal zones. I have been accumulating flora and fauna for months, as I researched. I’ve arranged the fauna by zone, with the... Continue reading

Conservatory base progress
I didn’t get the base finished this weekend, but I worked at an enjoyable pace and got a more than fair amount done. The rocks will barely be visible in the end, but I had fun painting and it was... Continue reading

Conservatory base
Before I can start landscaping, or rather, seascaping, the base of the contest build, I need to build the base for the conservatory. The two builds will sit next to each other as part of a cohesive theme. To have... Continue reading

Right wall finished
The right wall is “finished”. The components are prepared, but I won’t fasten the roof piece in place until it’s clear I won’t need to lay the project on its side, nor glue the decking down until the base is... Continue reading

Right wall progress
Progress on the right wall :) I moved the door away from the corner a bit and put in a smaller window. The siding is on and the wall is stained. Nancy shared her “secret recipe“ for gray ;) The... Continue reading

Thank you both :)
progress report
I’ve spent most of the past few weeks working in my gardens, communing with the chipmunks and birds, but did get a bit accomplished on the build. Left wall: I finished bricking, then grouted, aged, and shadowed. I stained the boathouse door, applied layers of gloss medium to make faux wi...

I agree, I’ve already ripped the bricks off, though not as far down as in the mock-up.
Cornice. It is a cornice, no special brickish term.
Left wall progress
I have been patiently and thoughtfully bricking the left wall over the last week and a half...I finished yesterday. I also built most of the door...I have to stain it, fashion windows, and add a rubber coated bottom. I have no idea if a “soft” bottom is realistic, but it makes sense to me, as...

Peapod part three
I faired the planks on the outside of the hull, it required hours of careful sanding. Once that was done I cut the stems from the strong back and removed the boat from the form. The inside is very scary,... Continue reading
