I support freedom of speech and hate should not be a crime. I must admit that I hate things that are normal in some other cultures. For example I hate that gays are executed just for being gay in some parts of the world. I think it's high time we ditched this post modern convention that all opinions and values are equally valid. Somebody once said that progress depends on unreasonable people. Unreasonable people are often offensive for one reason or another but we need to hear these people. Some of them turn out to be right.

Science is the study of the natural physical world through evidence. Since there is no evidence of the existence of God there is no need to bring creationism into the picture. We can't teach kids that science is based on evidence and in the same lesson claim that it's scientific to accept the existence of something for which we have no evidence - i.e God. I was never taught in science lessons that God doesn't exist in any case. School level science doesn't even address the question so this is a case of religious groups trying to get at young minds before they start asking naughty questions like "Does God really exist?"

I'm sure that the BBC would love to get their reporters into Gaza to examine the facts but all foreign reporters are being barred from Gaza by the Israelies. A western doctor treating the injured has reprted that about 45% of those are women and children. I do hope that Zionists are not making an attempt to hijack the Conservative party. This isn't America.

.SuperBlue. Let's look at the facts. In spite of these Israeli air strikes the motar shelling of Israel continues. We will no doubt see retaliatory suicide bombing in Israel over the next weeks and months. Can you point to any successes that were worth hundreds of innocent lives and a huminitarian disaster?

I think that a carefully thought out plan B will be preferable to doing nothing about climate change! I still have some hope invested in Nuclear Fusion. There are some expensive experiments going on in France to try and make it work such that it provides a viable clean source of energy.

It is true that extreme left wing and Islamist organisations provide the loudest voices of opposition to Israel...but there are also moderate conservatives (otherwise known as sensible human beings) who see the murderous folly of these latest Israeli air strikes. Nobody with any sense seriously believes that these air strikes will protect Israel from terrorism now or in the future.

This is why supervision by the Bank of England and not regulation by the FSA is required. People can always get around the tick box approach of regulators but it's much harder to pull the wool over the eyes of a supervisor who can sense when something doesn't 'smell' right.

I've sent an email to Harriet Harman asking her to help me understand how the adoption of Sharia law in England fits into her sexual equality agenda. So far I've had no response :-) It could be that securing muslim votes for Labour is more important to her than sexual equality for all in this country.

In reality I think most parents who send their children to a faith school do so because it provides a better standard of academic education than the local secular comprehensive. I think there is a place for faith schools in the private sector but if we had more high quality secular grammar schools then the demand for faith schools would fall. I realise that I'm sidestepping your question but my point is that I think the demand for faith schools is sometimes a reaction against poor quality comprehensives.

A muslim colleague of mine tells me that in his part of the city the Labour Party has no proper vetting process when it comes to choosing Labour party candidates for local elections. For example one serving Labour councillor thinks that it's a waste of time educating girls and if he could he would take his own girls out of school.

Our political and legal customs are at the heart of our culture and it's a mistake to think that culture is an add-on to these customs - a mistake that multiculturalists make.

I love that video! My brother worked at CERN for a while but now he lives in America where scientists are better paid and feel more valued than in the UK.

The worrying thing is that freedom loving conservatives like us are in the minority in Britain. Many decades of socialistic government has bred large numbers of people who see no problem with this kind of thing. For example last night I watched Mark Easton on BBC news do a piece that puts the responsibility for ferrel youths on society rather than the parents and I presume that many British heads nodded in agreement at this.

Thomas says "Sally, what makes you think that this will affect wider society?" This cuts to the heart of things. For much of the 19th Century the elite asked the same question about slum conditions in London. "What makes you think this will effect wider society". Well when middle class people starting being effected by the diseases of insanitary poverty the elite finally took action and regenerated those slum areas. 7/7 should have been our wake up call to clean up the cultural slums that isolated muslim communities live in. Think about those muslim girls suffering under patriarchal domination. They need to be protected from Sharia law. Wider society should give a damn...don't wait for more suicide bombers in London before you decide it's important that we challenge Islamism in Britain. There is no sexual equality in Sharia law and that makes it contrary to English law. Not all muslim women want to submit to Sharia but they can feel afraid to speak out about this. Have a heart and have some guts.

To Triad....let's not rely on the musings of self appointed "muslim scholars" to set the laws for ANYBODY in Britain. We have democracy and our laws are and should always be made in Parliament. All British people should be subject to the same laws.

It's very interesting to know what the cost of crime is but I hope it doesn't encourage a Danegeld approach to criminality. Socialists are fond of pointing out the corrollation between criminality and poverty (but they ignore the even stronger corrollation between fatherless households and criminality). Eventually the cost of appeassing criminals becomes too great just as it was with the Vikings and a more reactionary approach is required. I think we've reached that point in Britain today. Tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime means building more prisons and promoting stable family life i.e marriage.

They should have phased in operations at the new terminal. They took a gamble that things would be okay and they failed to deliver. I hope some of the compensation comes out of the bonuses planned for senior management.
