I've been feeling quite homesick since I've moved to Madison -- a friend forwarded this quote to me today and I thought it was definitely the universe trying to tell me something. It may be that the satisfaction I need depends on my going away, so that when I've gone... Continue reading

A Poem Written by my Dear Friend Charlie published in The Poet's Domain {KR }
Cry I have never forgotten what you arms feel like I think this would be easier if I could Imagine never being a part of love A part of your circle or inner passion and desire But with the distance comes a greater yearning A fire with a flame that... Continue reading

Choose Something Like a Star {Kristin} from The Poet's Domain
The Black Hole by Dawn Bailiff Rules of nature that confine and bind when all I want is to be friends. The caged bird sings inside my broken ribs, ripping through the fat that I have earned... the fat that now protects me from the stares of men. Painful flashback:... Continue reading

The Stolen Camera {misty}
Since the camera was stolen, everything is a photograph – pink bloom against white stucco, serious face of the potato chip man leaning over his cart. In the square, gypsies with brilliant skirts twirl among palm trees. I reach for the camera, to hand it to you, but it is... Continue reading

From my garden to you, John, 5/10/2010
Praying It doesn’t have to be the blue iris, it could be weeds in a vacant lot, or a few small stones; just pay attention, then patch a few words together and don’t try to make them elaborate, this isn’t a contest but the doorway into thanks, and a silence... Continue reading

Numbers lk : 5.04.10
Numbers I like the generosity of numbers. The way, for example, they are willing to count anything or anyone: two pickles, one door to the room, eight dancers dressed as swans. I like the domesticity of addition-- add two cups of milk and stir-- the sense of plenty: six plums... Continue reading

oh, let's have more Leonard.... lk : 5.2.10
Oh, Kristin reminded me of Leonard Cohen's fine musical poetry... Here is Leonard singing Hallelujah... no where near as pretty as Rufus, whom I think wonderful, but Leonard is Leonard... so let's have some more! Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin Dance me through the panic 'til... Continue reading

Oh yes........(mb)
Another poem by Sally Atkins {Kristin}
What the Artist Taught Me (For Those Who Now Know) When you can make art, you must, When you can't you read And watch TV. Art goes with fine chocolate, Champagne, and Wagner. Art seeps into all your crevices Like a low, soft river Or crashes through your blood Like whitewater. Art is alive....
I really like this poem. Interestingly, the words are different in the audio vs. the printed copy. Weird, huh? Neat poem though, I can relate. (MB)
lk : 4.23.10 poetry
“And it was at that age … poetry arrived in search of me. I don’t know, I don’t know where it came from, from winter or a river. I don’t know how or when, no they were not voices, they were not words, nor silence, but from a street I was summoned, from the branches of night, abruptly...
