Play is a state of mind
Yesterday I did a thing. It was an important thing, though to many people it may not have seemed particularly significant. I allowed myself to play with something different in the middle of another project. I have this idea about... Continue reading

Sudden change
It’s been a while since I posted here. I wish I could say that I’ve been having fun, but I really can’t. There have been some good things since early this year, but there have also been some really difficult... Continue reading

Art is life
I've been a bit remiss in blogging the last few years. I realise that while I have things to say I always feel a bit silly about writing them down. I want to commit to changing that relationship with my... Continue reading

And now we are 5(0)
And now we are 50! Whew! This hardly seems real. When I think about it I can certainly see that I have, in fact, traversed that many years. That reality does not, however, change my perception that I've only been... Continue reading

Confessions of an Urban Pagan
Well, sometimes bibliomancy is a thing, and when it is it hits squarely in the heart. Today I was having a conversation with Tony about what we might like to do about landscaping our back yard. Over 20 years in... Continue reading

song of my heart
I started out writing this post, at first in my head, a couple of weeks ago. It had a very different focus then. For one thing it was full of hope, full of energy, and full of enthusiasm for the... Continue reading

Project Self-care
Well, last night was quite a bit different that I had planned for it to be. Instead of a nice evening at home with my family I went to the emergency room. The strain of the last several months has... Continue reading

New Beginnings
Yesterday marked a milestone in my life. It was the last day of business for my shop of the last ten years: Purlescence Yarns It was a rousing party and much fun was had by all! Thank you so much... Continue reading

And we come full circle
I brought home a new wheel today. After helping a couple of customers choose new wheels this week, I came to realise that I miss having a Louet Victoria spinning wheel. At the time that I re-homed my first Victoria,... Continue reading

Resources
There are times when we answer a call - and discover that we have pushed ourselves beyond our resources. It's easy in such situations to just keep pushing until we simply fall over in exhaustion. How many of us have... Continue reading

Inspiration versus Discernment
We live in times that are speeding up. The level of chaos and despair is spiraling out of control. The Call is loud and clear, and yet, and yet, the best way we can answer that call is to do... Continue reading

You are stars, part 2
"You are stars." There is a difference between believing that each of us has a spark of the Divine within us and knowing that we are Divine. The idea that we hold only a spark of the Divine gives us... Continue reading

Acceptance
And She said to me, "Choosing is easy; just make the choice and it is so. Only you can choose. Holding onto that choice amidst the noise of Life is what feels difficult. That is where I can help, if... Continue reading

What are you willing to do...?
"What are you willing to do in order to come into right relationship...?", she asked me. We were discussing my relationship with my deceased mother at the time. My mother was an incredibly gifted - and terribly broken - psychic... Continue reading

A Question of Order
Acceptance Commitment Desire Will These fours words have a lot of meaning packed into them. When I asked my wife for her opinion of their appropriate order, I was surprised by her answer. My order of operations and hers were... Continue reading

Thanks! I think going to Circle last night put me in a much better space for the last day of Stitches, too. :)
Sisterhood
I had a really spiffy blog post all planned in my head...but sleep deprivation seems to have robbed me of my ideas. That's okay. Instead, I'm going to wax poetic about the wonders of Sisterhood. Okay, maybe not too poetic - it's been a pretty full week, and with one more day to go at Stitches...
I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Please hug Karin for me. Reepicheep was very sweet and will be greatly missed, but think of her now on the distant shores, happy and healthy for ever.

RIP Reepicheep
Karin's sweet little rat, Reepicheep, died tonight, nestled safe in Kevin's hands. She had been battling a respiratory illness for the past few weeks. After initial improvement, her condition deteriorated and we could no longer get her to take her medicine. These past couple of days she'd been e...
And Kaye stoicly stayed all the way until 9 p.m. to help out, knit with customers, and do whatever needed to be done. Thanks, Sweetie, you're the best!
Pajama Jammy Jam
We had no idea. When Chloe and Nathania arrived at the shop a bit before 6am on Black Friday they wondered how many people would show up at the crack of dawn to get a good deal on yarn. Anne S. (that's Anne with an "E", sorry, honey!) was the first to arrive, her headlights turning into the par...
Oh, that's, I'll be checking out that blogring. Yeah for dog people!
Alas
I guess I will never be an official knit blogger: I'm allergic to cats. It's a shame really, because I do like them, but I am really allergic to them. I do have a rather large dog, whom I love a lot. I'll have to dig around for a picture of him to post here.
