Puppet Camp-final day
I was overly ambitious for Puppet Camp last week. My plan was to have the children experience a wide variety of puppet making. I quickly realized after day one, that I would have to tone it down a bit. After-all, I am working with four-years-olds. For the last day I planned a pop-up cone ...
Hi Sallie! Thanks for stopping by. I bought the mugs at a local shop here in Minneapolis, but the bottom of it reads NOW designs. You could try and find it on line and if not and if you REALLY want one, I could go back and see if there are any left and get it to you.
Happy New Year!! xx
all was Merry and Bright
All was Merry and Bright, but not very white. I don't remember a Christmas without snow! Hope your holiday was full of love and cheer! Warm blessings friends. xxx

acorn gems
Acorn gems are my version of the popular Acorn Cap Jewels as seen on Kiwi Crate. I fell in love with this idea when I first came across it. My mom, boys and I tried making them at the cabin this summer but ours did not impress me nearly as much as those I saw at Kiwi Crate. I th...

Michaelmas / Harvest Festival at the preschool
I'm short on words today so will let the photos do most of the talking. It was such a pleasure to have a friend and former mother from the preschool take on the role of Mother Earth this year. I loved what she said to me later...it was such a peaceful and joyful ex...

Funny. I started this post in early July. So why not finish it now? This, the last day of August. In my mind, the last day of summer. I've had a dry spell on this blog, while here in Minnesota we've spent a summer trying to conquer the damage all the past winters' heavy snowstorm...
Dear, dear Junebug. It was your comment on my June post that helped motivate me to come back to this space. Thank you!

Three Little Birds
Today was the first day back at the preschool. I wasn't sure how it was going to feel, after eveything, but I had Bob Marley in my head all day singing, "Don't worry about a thing, 'Cause every little thing...

Hi Michelle! While I believe the hot glue WILL stand up to outside weather, the sticks you use may not. Sometimes, if the bark on the wood is loose, peeling it away before gluing will help it stay together. If you want it for outdoor use, I would recommend building your furniture then covering it completely with a wood epoxy to ensure it does not fall apart. Hope this helps! Kristin
fairy garden embellishments
Bowls of natural materials were left out during camp last week so the children had the opportunity to explore and come up with ideas for what they wanted to use certain things for and many were very creative in their planning. However, most were too young to make certain pieces so I happily sat...
Hi Michelle. This post is almost four years old and I still have some of the furniture being used in the nature table at my preschool - amazingly it has withstood time AND small hands.
Have you tried another glue? Perhaps Wood Glue? I only use the glue gun as I need it to dry fairly quickly at school so the kids can take the pieces home with them.
It may be that the twigs you are using have thick or very dry bark and that is pulling away from the wood with the weight of the glue. I would recommend experimenting with different glues and wood to see what works best. Hope this helps!
fairy camp - part three
This is the third of three posts about the fairy camp I held this summer at my preschool. (Part One and Part Two) I made some miniature pieces for the children to add to their gardens. These are pretty quick and simple little projects that an older child could handle quite easily, but for my p...

ridiculously beautiful
(49) 2014 - crochet hangers -
Just because I still have a few of these old wooden hangers and a bag full of wool remnants. Trusted old pattern from 'Homemade' (Ros Badger and Elsepth Thompson). Size 2.5mm hook and sock wool remnants. Ridiculously satisfying.
Hi Melanie! I'm lucky to live near the textile center of MN and always find lots of beautiful roving there. etsy is a good place to start if you're interested.
