All these things on Wednesday
I think the winter thing is at a peak. The Man is ill. I'm getting there. An ice storm cometh. The Jeep is not running well. The wood pile is covered in ice. Hard drive issues threaten a computer meltdown. And it seems my blog subscription service has also been hacked or something and ch...
grace i can only find her name and town, but that will find her, it's only a small town.

a day of Unforseen. Alz. B. When i got there, i said, kind of hanging sideways, my face close to hers, hey, Betty...it's me, grace and she got a soft, very strongly softly intense smile and looking me directly in the eye said..."grapes?" i stayed a long time. today she felt very lightly i...

130 one plus three plus zero equals four. four. ~4~
the day began innocently enough and with something i've never seen before. the Giant Sage is filled with mating ladybugs... and i took that to be Auspicious. and then, i Waited. i'm not good at waiting. waiting can mean that you have time to do various things until something happens. but ...

email from DeadbrokeRanch: Buckwheat is good. Buckwheat is "Mellow"...a direct quote from an email. he is with the two young wethers (neutered bucks), Ben and Jerry. They are just fine. Their area is in the shade, against the house. She actually SAID the word MELLOW. and i thought...Buckwh...
i loove that you found all that foliage for the goats, wheeeeeee!!
day 34 began with a dream
i got up at around 3am to pee. decided to just stay up. made coffee, turned on the magic screen and looked around. went to Dee Mallon's blog and stayed there a long time. looking, thinking. looking some more. and then around a little more through the second cup of coffee. it was only 4:30a...
So Beautiful, so peaceful, such acceptance........
Love
i wish i could take a video of how it goes. there are all these details first...be sure the bales of feed are covered with the tarp. haul the water bowl and the pellet bowls out back. make sure the latch on the back gate works. put Tulip, the old deaf dog inside and close the dog door. ok....
Love it! so heart warming and cosy and just STILL.....
AND
being still in a kind of mood, it happened. i took the blanket off the back door (you can see now, in the background, a piece of a bedspread over the door. it's windy. and the dog food bin pushed up against it.) and using the little paper doll figure of Jude's CB2 workshop, i cut it. and...
thanks Deb, and i see you're no longer sugar-free
three cookies
I'm cleaning out the fridge...seems as good a rational as any: I used a jam bar recipe and did three versions. From the lower right hand corner going clockwise: currant jam, quince jam, and rhubarb sauce. Currants from Mom and Dad, quince from one of my grandmothers and the rhubarb from m...
in Africa, or at least in Ethiopia anyway, facial tattoos are done to show what tribe you belong to, so it's an instant identification thing - where you belong. I think it would be extraordinary to have facial tattooing done, but it would have to be for a 'real' reason, like a real tribal thingy or a very strong statement as to who we are, but even then there is the question as to why one has to tell everyone in the street that statement about ourselves. Layers of thought.
a mood
yes. a mood. my friend brings me her New York Times newspapers to use as fire starters in the winter. each morning i pull some out and read them as i crinkle some up to start the morning fire. some i keep. things about salamanders in Mexico City, carrots becoming the Artisan vegetable. ...
What else is in there - oats i can see, also maybe flour....currant jam sounds interesting, never thought of that one.

Looks like you've reached your goal already so you must be grown up...
when I grow up I will be...
The stitched side of my current sewing project, the one that I am calling "When I grow up." I think for my most of my childhood if someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would have answered "Maybe a teacher." I know by the time I was in high school I was set on that course....
Poor you, i didn't know you were sick, hope you feel better very soon. Alpaca usually needs some sheep wool as it's not elastic enough on it's own, and it looks very pretty too. Take care
continuing...
I'm back to working on the scarf made with alpaca... spinning and knitting It's a bit tricky, this fiber. I'm starting to mix in some sheep's wool with the alpaca. A little easier to spin. Thanks for the well wishes...I'm feeling much better and the vapor rub works great (but not on the f...
my preference is the top one....just my tuppence worth!
before there's nothing left
this morning: this afternoon:
they are so right in your garden, they have always filled that space and now you can see them in it. You did well to offer them refuge.
But i know what you went thru, a long, long time ago i took 2 candle stick holders from an old church which had been long abandoned, i crept on my belly thru the long grass back to my fence as the church was only over the fence to my old schoolhouse, then an old sheep came up behind me and nudged my leg - i bit my heart as i was sure it was Someone Important. I still have those candle holders and every time i see them i remember the fear.

back to the Unforseen. But, this time Different
it's been some days. since th e 26th of January and really before that i have been thinking so much about how i use that expression "barring the unforseen, ". And i'd been thinking a lot about it because it seemed that the scale was weighing heavy on the side of the Unforseen recently. more...

you write as the wind, and yes i agree with linda, can you perhaps buy the house?
~Wind~
there is no pic here. it's too Windy. there is conversation about Wind, here and there. right now, the Reality of Wind. Harsh. Insistent. Cold. Throwing sand everywhere, in our eyes, making them tear. in our ears, making them ache. Wind. a harsh wind. i waited, hoping Wind would quiet...
You're so busy, fabulous to see the variety there. I think they're just guessing about those percentages, it never works out right down here.
40 % sunshine or 60 % chance of rain
I want to know why the weather forecast is always given as the chance of rain? Why not sunshine?
Maybe weave in the edges to blend it with the background. Nice leaves.
field notes: garden plus a pocket
and... First attempt at a pocket for my plain jane jumper. It's only stitched to the jumper along the top. I don't like it, too predictable, too something... I'll try again.
grace i've carried you with me all day and what i'm thinking you don't want to hear or read. Just let me say these few things - NO One wants boy goats because they grow up and start to to stink, and fight and head butt and destroy stuff. Before they get any older speak to a local butcher if there is one and let him take them. Then next year, if there is another breeding season on your once lovely place of quiet solitude and stitching, cull the boys at birth, before you name them and photograph them.
How many goats did your daughter bring you only a few short months ago? Now you have 26. In another year you will be over-run. It is way too much for you. My worst fears for you have almost materialised already.
~goats~ first autumn
i am splitting wood, they are growing heavier coats. No Use to try for artsy pics. they see a camera, they crowd around. even if they are "out". this is what it looks like: this, through the reinforced lifestock fencing. now the addition of cattle panel. there are 26. Still. it seem...
I enjoy those nugget pumpkins, usually plant about 3, which reminds me - must do later this week. I'm knitting white just now too, and it's for a dog so won't stay white for long - Lol! Your blues are lovely.
in detail: squash and knitting
This is the volunteer winter squash from the garden. It is good, was worth saving. I made soup with it. The recipe is from Yvette Van Boven's book Homemade Winter, with a few tweaks. I try to knit a few rows everyday on my sweater. Originally I was planning on dyeing the sweater with ...
