Sounds like you had a wonderful time -- I wish we had something like that close by! The big event around here is The Big E in Springfield, MA. It used to be an agricultural fair but has now turned into a commercial fair and carnival for kids.

It is so nice to catch up with you. Your lace shawls are very inspiring! I'd like to knit one but I can't seem to decide; Sweet Lily Shawl is the one I like most so far.
