For Christmas, Chris gave me a painting by the yoga teacher who taught the summer class on the beach I attended when we were in Cape Cod. It was amazing to do yoga on the beach, digging my hands into... Continue reading

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family, and are looking forward to a new start in 2013. 2012 was a challenging year. Workwise, things are still not completely settled, and I won't know for another month or... Continue reading

It has been a bittersweet season in Connecticut, with the loss of the children and teachers in Newtown. We are reminded through them of what matters most -- each other. So I hope that wherever you spend Christmas, that you... Continue reading

...I caved and started to knit some beaded ornaments as gifts. Once I pre-string the beads, they knit up quickly. You can find the pattern details on Ravelry here. Are you making any Christmas gifts? How are they coming along?... Continue reading

Though we live in a shoreline town, we were thankfully not in the evacuation zone for Hurricane Sandy, and our basement stayed dry. We did lose half of a V-shaped tree at the end of our driveway. It was uncomfortable... Continue reading

For my friend M's baby L, I knitted the Baby Sophisticate Sweater. He's a boy, so denim blue yarn and train buttons it is. The pattern's gauge is a little wonky (the designer noted on Ravelry that knitters were reporting... Continue reading

Pearls! I really appreciate everyone's input, particularly since my question was apparently more confusing than I had intended. I meant to ask whether colored buttons vs. pearls was the better choice, not which of the two colors (cranberry & lt.... Continue reading

Sounds like you had a wonderful time -- I wish we had something like that close by! The big event around here is The Big E in Springfield, MA. It used to be an agricultural fair but has now turned into a commercial fair and carnival for kids. Hope you had a great Labor Day!

I'm nearly finished knitting the rosettes for this scarf, twelve pink and twelve magenta. It's time to choose buttons that will fasten them to the scarf and serve as the flower centers. In a cold-and-decongestant-induced haze (Hello allergy season! Are... Continue reading

August is just flying by! I'm trying not to get too sad that the summer is nearly over. I wait for it all year. The September issues of all of the fashion magazines are out, and it's hard looking at... Continue reading

How was your weekend? We had a hot, humid, but quiet one. We're enjoying watching the Tour de France, and Chris and Mr. SDC raced in a local bike race yesterday. Chris on left, under tree leaves. Mr. SDC on... Continue reading

I finally chose a project for upcoming hospital knitting, when I'll be visiting a family member. It's not any of the projects I'd been considering. During my cleaning and organizing, I saw two skeins of yarn that I purchased several... Continue reading

My temporary job at the state capitol finished last month, and I'm really missing it. The people were friendly, and the work was much more interesting than I thought. I'd love to find a full-time job there, since the publishing... Continue reading

It is so nice to catch up with you. Your lace shawls are very inspiring! I'd like to knit one but I can't seem to decide; Sweet Lily Shawl is the one I like most so far. Your cats (in the previous post) are so big! I remember when they were tiny kittens. We just adopted a new cat and I hope to post her photo shortly.
