Help Us Celebrate 5 Years of TypePad
October is a big month of birthdays here at Six Apart: TypePad celebrates five years, while Movable Type turns seven and Vox turns two. Even future blogger Penelope Trott, daughter of founders Ben and Mena Trott, turned one year old this month! To mark TypePad's fifth anniversary, we'd lik...
Hi Teresa - We're still aiming to have all blogs on the new codebase in late November 2008.
Building A Bright New TypePad
Hi everyone, I’m Ben Trott, the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer here at Six Apart. It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me because my focus is on leading our team of engineers, and I spend most of my hours (ok, mainly the waking ones) writing code, brainstorming and building the in...
Thanks for stopping by, Rider, and congratulations on being invited to Martha's blogging show! We're happy to have you blogging with us.
TypePad Bloggers on TV
Two of our amazing TypePad bloggers, Matt of mattbites.com and Meg of cuteoverload.com were on Martha Stewart's show recently talking about what else: blogging! Along with some other great bloggers - including the whole audience - Matt and Meg wowed Martha with their stories about how a "little...
Welcome to TypePad, and thanks for your trackback to our Everything TypePad blog!
Trackbacks are definitely acceptable. TrackBacks make it easy to share links between blogs. When I write about your blog, I can share a link to my post with your readers. It helps create and further conversations across the web.
For question #2, I want to commend what you're doing so far - writing concise and informative posts with links and graphics, and giving your readers food-for-thought to respond to and discuss. Since you are getting some interesting comments, you could use them as inspiration for new posts, to further the discussion. And consider adding the Recent Comments module to your sidebar - in the TypePad application just click on Weblogs -> Design -> Select Content and look under Sidebar Modules.
175,000 new blogs created every day
Wow, really "here comes everybody" as Clay Shirky titled his 2008 book. The provider of this new blog you are reading right now (courtesy of their 14-day free trial) writes, ...finding fresh blogs that are well-written, relevant, and appeal to our passions is no easy feat. ... we have to help r...

The BlogWorld & New Media Expo, held in Las Vegas on September 20th and 21st, is the largest blogging conference in the world. Many of us here from Six Apart, including teams from TypePad, Movable Type and Vox, will be there in full force. The only question is: Will you be joining us? Six Ap...
Hey Jacob -- Thanks for your comment! We're working on bringing a few more seasonal themes to TypePad. The fall themes should be up in the coming weeks, we'll post here when we add them.
New Themes: Keep It Basic or Get Political
Our design team just added over 40 new theme choices. Show your patriotism with stars and stripes, or you can get downright political by choosing the Democrat or Republican themes. There are even two green cityscapes that are rather eco-friendly - blogging does save trees, after all. For the m...
Hi Joerg & Robin - for this first version of the beta blog, we're going to limit posting to 6A staffers, but we are working on better ways for the beta team to be able to interact with each other (more info when I have it!) For now, the best way to file a bug is still to open a help ticket.
Welcome to the Beta Blog!
Update 2008-10-06: We've made a few changes to the blog, including removing the password protection so that you can subscribe to the feed to get the latest news on the TypePad beta. ---------- Hello TypePad Beta Team! We've just created this private blog to make it a bit easier for us to com...

Bringing back Search
Update 2008-10-06: Thank you for testing in-app search and providing the team with great feedback. We were able to deploy the feature to all users on the new platform last Thursday. We’ve collected your feedback on bringing replace back with the ability to do partial-match searches and a...
Hi Ralf, thanks for your suggestions! Currently you can set an option to let your commenters follow a conversation by subscribing to the comment feed for individual posts, but we have plans to expand commenting options soon. We're also looking in to offering printing options for your blog as well. We'll post to this blog with updates as we have them!

Hi Charles - Ray from the Mobile team let me know that this issue was solved in the 1.0.1 version. You'll need to Refresh your blog settings (on the Settings tab in TypePad on the device) in order for this to be corrected. Hope that helps!

Hi Yunzhou - All Movable Type users (including MTE users) can simply download the plugin from this page:
http://antispam.typepad.com/info/get-started.html
You'll install the plugin, get an API key (also on the linked page) and enter your API key to enable free spam blocking with no limits on the number of comments you can get.
As an MT Enterprise customer, you can contact your6A rep with any of these kinds of questions, and our services team would be happy to help install the plugin.
TypePad AntiSpam: A Better Way to Handle Spam
Let's face it: spam is just not a pleasant subject to deal with or talk about. But the fact is, we all deal with it every day in each of our online accounts, and spammers make a living off of constantly devising new tactics to get their insidious messages before our eyes. Since so much of our...
SherylR - One of our team members looked into this and it should be fixed now. In the future, if you ever do see something not working quite right, please reach out to our Support team (http://support.typepad.com/) by opening a Help ticket. They're there to help!

Nollind - you are correct; once the migration is complete, we'll be opening up a bigger beta program where anyone can join to use the newest features first. I'm confident TypePad can fit your needs for simplicity, control and versatility. Ginevra from the TypePad team will email you to talk more in detail about the functionality you're looking for.

Ole - as much as that phrase makes me a little queasy, we do eat our own dogfood! Ben's blog StupidFool.org is powered by TypePad, and he's constantly fixing and writing code. I'm working on getting an updated listing on the TypePad website of all the team members' blogs.

Hi Leigh - I checked with our Mobile team and they let me know that they're in the process of working on the issue with photo quality. In the future, the "moved and scaled" images should not appear in lower quality than a regular photo. In order to enable the move & scale option, it was a short-term trade-off in quality, but also allowed for the image to auto-rotate as well.
