I've several double boilers that do that, and other things as well.

I would not give Obama slack he deserves, but in this case I think you are really really wrong, and hurt our credibility. UPDATE: More lies from the deceiver in chief. Obama said, "No faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor." Puhleeze. How does O explain over a millennium of jihad wars, land expropriations, enslavements, and humiliations of the conquered non-Muslim populations on three continents in the name of allah? Taqiya! You are simply wrong, disastrously wrong. What is the matter with you? It is a true and correct thing to say "No faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor." He also tossed terms around like life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness ......like an aging prostitute tosses around her many virtues. He was quoteing the Declaration of Independence. If you truly think that sounds like an aging whore tossing around her virtues, we are in serious trouble. I started reading this blog a while back and then stopped for reasons I couldn't remember, so I started reading again. Now I remember. And I'll leave with this thought--it is a damn shame that "Atlas Shrugs" is in the public domain--you misrepreent the concept greatly.

I was in the Navy, a long, long time ago, and spent a lot of my spare time studying the why-do-we-do-thats of the odd customs of the military. (Ever wonder what the salute means, and where it came from? Or why some Navy folk salute with their left hand?) So was I interested in the progression of Obama's observance of the "odd customs". Much as I dislike the man and all he stands for, I think he is entitled to a considerable measure of credit to his obvious investment in time and effort to learn. Id would be interesting to learn what his motivation is, but what ever, I'd say "Well done". Should the President salute? How about the Secretary of Defense? The Secretary of the Navy. A child at a funeral? Looks like we have the situation which arises ever now and again where the Rocks and Shoals don't cover just every thing and we have to use our God-given good sense to work out The Right Thing. My sense is that there is no reason not to--he is "in uniform", he is giving or returning a salute appropriate in every other way. Why not?

How does this relate to the current catastrophe we are in? (Clue: If the Republicans had a few more candidates, supported the one or two they have, and operated from a platform that made sense, we might not be in the catastrophe we are now in.)

Too bad the 9/12 folks didn't think of this. Would have gotten them lots more press than picking up their trash did.

God bless and keep you for the next twenty. And go ahead and travel if that suits you. Together.
We need some "I like Dave" stickers. Or are you old enough to make the connection? Think "ETO"

In 12 - 18 months will it matter? Does Kerry speak Arabic?

Some has to always be rearranging the furniture. I don't like "Anonymous" either--I assign zero credibility to them and rarely read them. One change I would like to see is greater differentiation between links and the surrounding text. My tired old eys can see them here--have to run the mouse-pointer along the line thought to have a link in it trying to find it.

I seem tom have missed it. Given the electioneering rhetoric, I assume he spoke Arabic in the interview?

My advice to the kids[1] would be (actual choices available will largely depend on historical events -- grades-to-date): Apply for admission to one of the Academies. Apply for acceptance in one of the ROTC programs at the college of their choice. After graduation from High School join the Service of your choice--near the end of your first enlistment, decide whether to re-up, or do something else--you will then have a much cleared idea of what you want to do. [1] It is their life, not your's Mom. Trust me.

If he has promised programs that you believe are good, vote for him. If you believe he will institute policies that will hurt you or your descendants, vote for the other of the two from which the likely winner will emerge. I don't need anybody's pity votes.

I think you pose a false dichotomy. The advertisement is intended to show how hollow, vapid, empty, and hollywood Obama is. And it does that rather well.

Well, I guess you are not the first one, so I'll apologize for that. But I really have no interest in any thing either of them might say. I'd rather read Andrew Sullivan. But won't.

"Forget Scott Beauchamp,..." Beggin' your pardon, sir, but I had forgotten him until you brought him back to the spotlight. Wish you had not done that, sir. He got his 15 minutes--he deserves no more. (OK to talk about what he talked about, just leave his name and person out of it if it is not really, really relevant to the story.)
