I am FAR from knowledgeable in this area, but I say take it easy till the race. The 20k on race day will be a breeze for you, it's always different in that kind of atmosphere! However, promise to pace yourself!! I am guessing you aren't there to break any records! You'll be awesome - now don't spend another minute thinking about it :)

Oh how I remember this stage! When this first happend at our house we removed the platform that held the matress in place and just put the mattress on the floor (within the cirb) then lowered the side rail of the crib. Our crib wasn't on wheels and there was no way she could squeeze under/between the rail & mattress *careful, not all cribs are the same!! This gave it a few extra inches and she could no longer get out. However, soon after...and baby #2 on the way...we made the transition to the big girl bed and put the crib away for a short time. The best advice I found for keeping her in her room with the big girl bed is to put a baby gate on her bedroom door. This way she may get out of bed, but not out of her room! You might have to keep putting her back into her bed at first, but she will tire, and like all little challenges, this one wont last long!!

Wow, poor thing! Crazy mid November my daughter came in from lunch recess and 10 mins later had hives all over her face, next day, same time, they were on her hands...teachers were concerned it was an allergy associated with food in the lunch room, since it only happend after lunch recess. So we removed her from the lunch room for 2 days...and she was fine. The next week, back in the lunch room, and closely montitored it happend again after lunch recess...this time the hives were fewer but the size of quaters!! We had a scheduled Doc apt the next day and he did in fact mention that it sounded like "Cold Urticarial" but just told me to keep a watch over it and didn't perscribe anything. Since then there has been no sign of the hives in over 2 weeks!??! Strange! Now I am tempted to try the "ice cube" test... I can't imagine all that your family has been through with the peanut allergy, then this! It's such a tough thing even for a grown up to wrap their head around. Best of luck to you and Sarah too. Thanks for sharing.

Our fave after the kids are in bed: Air Popped Popcorn with butter & salt topped with NIBS! - and if you have 'em, M & M's too....satisfy the sweet and salty... Pair it up with an ice cold OJ! Don't knock it till you try it! Enjoy. Laura

We had a bad day care experience many years ago. All seemed well for a few months, and then like you, it all ended, quickly! It was from out of no where and slightly tramatic for everyone! My one regret was not getting in touch with the other parents to find out more from them. Something was up, something went wierd somewhere along the line, and I never found out why?! Is there any way you can get a hold of the other families and find out how they are handeling the situation? You should totally fight for your money!! $300 is huge! Nice "rules" lady! Sounds like, in the end, it's a good thing you are getting out of will all work out for the best. Good luck.

This has been a battle in our house for years! Some we've had "burned" off by the pediatrician, for some in "sesitive areas" we've been perscribed $$ cream, some my kids have picked at - and on and on. I've always been told they'll eventually go away - but's been years!! BUT - I was recentlly told by a "Natual Doctor" to give my kids natural "Immune Boosting" drops (I add the liquid to their juice or a smoothies 1-3x/day). Seriously - it cleared up in less than a month! Amazing!!!

Don't believe everything you read on the web- that advise sounds way too extreem! We've found a simple solution in our house - but it took years to learn how simple it really was. I'll be sure to send you the details. Take care!

At 3 yrs old, and just before xmas, my daughter asked to have her ears pierced. I couldn't get to Claire's fast enought. We did the same thing-both ears at once. Over xmas holidays one stud fell out-seems they did that a lot when she removed her t-shirts(?)-we were so busy with xmas, I figured I'd get to it later...2 days later the hole closed in! So I took the ohter one out too. :( After the holidays - she was greeted by her friend who got her ears newly pierced - my daughter now wanted to brave it again. This time, with new advise, we got some "emla" numbing cream and took her to a hair salon in St.Vital mall. MUCH better and more experienced(!!). They were surprised how un-centered the previous holes were and were sure to correct it. I also never had a problem with those studs falling out again.

Rest assured, it is an on going battle...communication is key...and teamwork makes life easier for everyone. My husband seems to "step it up" a knotch on the weekends getting more involved in meal making and cleaning up & playing with the kids...I kick back and let him...sure it's not "even steven" but I appreciate the breaks and I let him know it...that way he'll keep it up ;-) you'll find your grove too.

Yup, footwear is my huge problem this season too....I have done the skinny jean with the longer cardigan (to hide the junk!)...and sandals...but now what for fall/winter? Boots are tough...and my calfs have a hard time squeezing in most times. Heel? Flat? Wedge? Comfort? Ones that will fit under the wider leg jean...but also slip over the "skinny jean!" Seriously...there should be an all-in-one boot out there!! I'm searching for it...

YOU BET! I think we've come very close to echo-ing all of the above - except the beautiful baby girl part!! Awwwwww...Congrats!!! This whole summer break thing does take some serious planning. We've made lists of things we want to do, make, and see. Some are set for rainy days and others just as we go. Mostly we'd love to be at the lake, but there will be lots of days that we are home here in the "Peg." My plan this summer is to stick to my goal of getting my 2 kids doing about 30min-1hr of "school type work" each morning (is that bad? oh well, I know it will help them next year!!) - mostly fun stuff, math games, cutting up magazines and makeing things, printing, writing out summer goals, reading, etc. Gives me some a.m. time to get things going and organized - when I'm not helping them, that is!! We tie-dyed t-shirts yesterday (kit from Michaels) man it was fun and the shirts look great! We've got a couple of playdates scheduled to meet a few other families at the park - moms will have coffee and likely have a little rant session. I LOVE Nik's idea about dropping the kids at Gymkyds for just 1 day just to get a little break. My kids are also in summer swimming lessons right now 10 days of swimming lessons and done - the compact session has them swimming like fish in no time - Also good start to the day to get us going!! Maybe we could have some of the "Mommas" and kids meet up at a central park one of these days...just a thought, it would be so nice to see you. xo enjoy your days...
