Julie, your bravery in sharing your story and then answering some of the questions that came up -and answering publicly, has helped many people including me. Not only are you strong, you are beautiful AND of course mega-creative!!! Hugs and many blessings on your continued journey. p.s. I love your flowered jeans & they look great on you!

julie, I love that B&W photo of you & May! I also think you have been looking absolutely fabulous recently, just beaming! you GO Girl! :D
I loved your post Michelle, you related so many important things you learned from Julie, like just jumping in and trying. I can see how it has helped you to do what you want to do with your art, especially since you say you never felt like you were artistic before! And your "kitchen studio" is fab, thank you for sharing it with us. You look very organized and I like how you have lots of drawers and baskets you can pull out and work with. great post!
oh, huge congratulations, Julie! that is super-awesome and a great fit for you. I am really enjoying your online stamp carving class and will be working on lesson 4 tomorrow!! : ) happy dance for you! lenna
wow! I really liked how you started with the blue and green. I kind of liked how you built it up (I liked the first one a lot!) but then was really amazed at what you did and how great your final painting looked. Your braveness amazes me most of all! Really good, Julie. I think a challenge like this is just what I need and i am going to step into it, thank you!!

After a rainy day, the flowers bloomed profusely! That is what this looks like to me, Julie. I really kind of liked the first rendition of your painting, but I think the painted over, very textured painting you have now is fabulous!!! I also love that you just painted over what you did not like and tried again. Kudos!

Such an awesome post Julie, so helpful, and fab comments from your readers too. My best advice to myself and others for art journaling -as well as collage, art, writing or anything creative: Just START. Start and let it flow, you can edit it later with more paint, paper, or changing your words around. The important part is to commit to it and make yourself jump in and start!!! : )
'Collections' is one of my favorite words that begin with a "C", Helga! Also: chocolate, cats, creativity, collage, cupcakes, corn on the cob, conch shells, coffee, conversation, collecting (shells & feathers), cunning children, cornbread with chili and commitment!!! thanks for this fun brain-teaser!
Gosh, this is my first time here, I came via a mention on Julie Balzer's blog. I love reading about what you discovered about 'happy accidents' and all of your creations are wonderful!

Wow, what a give away, thanks for the chance! My most recent purchase was a set of Permapaque Art Markers for your stamp carving class! A friend & I are going to sign up later this month. At the same time I ordered a number of individual Sennelier Soft Pastels, a set of Cretacolor Art Chunky Colored Charcoal, a set of Cretacolor Carré Pastels, and a pad of Fabriano Studio Watercolor Paper 140 lb. These items were so I could continue doing exercises via 2 DVDs by Bill Buchman. I took classes with him in person earlier this year, now over. These items will help me continue learning his contemporary abstract art style. I wouldn't usually purchase such a variety of supplies all at once, but Bill supplied most everything as part of our class fee. I have enjoyed experimenting & learning so much I want to continue!
love your texture with the stencil! really nice projects, you rock!

I really like what you did in your "different for you journal" Julie. It is a good idea to try a different type of journal and see where that will take you. i am going to try it!
i love the "xoxo" shape, so much fun!
The whole thing is fantastic, from the concept as to why you created this to what you created -both the handmade canvas and the painting. I love, love, loVe the way you dimensionally wrapped the painting around your canvas. Way to go Julie!

"You can do it!" or "Be Yourself" what a fabulous idea! Thanks, helga . . .
Michelle, I commend you for stepping back to reflect on the crusades and what you want to do, what is going to work for you! Difficult I am sure, but smart to listen to your heart. I have observed here more than participated but your Restraining Order crusade sounds perfect! i hope to be back with a link to a journal page soon!

Hi Helga and happy day! Here is my answer to your challenge: http://creativelenna.blogspot.com/2011/11/artchix-studio-is-10.html big hugs from lenna xo
how about something with feathers? -you have given me that idea, helga : )
I really like your canvas bag, Julie and I would love to try that. Using freezer paper is such a great idea to grab the shapes on fabric! I would use this stencil in a journal or an altered book too. I'd use just 1/2 of it and lay it across the bottom of the page spread. I'd stencil with my faithful watercolor crayons. After the crayons had been activated with water and dried with my heat gun, I would write across the the stenciled color. Great design! ; ^ ) lenna
