If that's the case, let's all get busy killing every last one of these mofo bears. We'd didn't get out of the food chain for nothing.
A THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Rethink? RETHINK? Long past that time. Time to decorate lamposts with those who actually work for such operations. Nothing short of that will reverse the rot.
Deadly, Deadly Biscuits
So deadly, in fact, we must be steered away from biscuits deemed too substantial: Biscuits could be made smaller under plans to cut obesity rates by reducing the amount of fat in the nation’s diet. Ministers are set to demand that food manufacturers, cafes and supermarkets reduce the portion si...

Is That What You Want?
Campus Republicans at Cal Berkeley make a point. A good point.
You took in his TED talk on the 6 Apps right?
The Couple of the Year
Niall Ferguson and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Two of my favorite minds on the planet. The awesomeness is practically unfathomable.
Whenever I read about creatures such as Hobsbawm I always hear the line from Tale of Two Cities, "Drive him fast to his tomb. This, from Jacques."
Elsewhere (45)
Via Kate, Michael Moynihan on the reprehensible fantasist Eric Hobsbawm: In a now infamous 1994 interview with journalist Michael Ignatieff, the historian was asked if the murder of “15, 20 million people might have been justified” in establishing a Marxist paradise. “Yes,” Mr. Hobsbawm replied....
Always keep in mind that while not all people with tattoos are criminals, all criminals have tattoos.
Tattoos and X drift
I’ve been thinking about tattoos and class since I read about them recently at another blog. It’s too simplistic to merely say that tattoos are low class. Certainly they used to be extremely low class, the province of the sailors and the lowest class of manual laborers. Tattoos also used to be...
"I do love the word offal."
Clearly not nearly so much as you love consuming heaping plates of the same muttering, "Man, that is my rich substance." Bon Appétit.
America Unfinished
The American Revolution was in 1776. The Russian Revolution was in 1917. Was America too early? Were the Founders simply not evolved enough? CD rants on about the 'special debt' MLK says was owed to the Negro. From my way of thinking, the Negro thought his own way out of the existential beartrap...
You need to carefully consider your demographic situation.

Believe you me, subbubba, you DO NOT want anything even remotely like this to start up. You REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't want it. I remember what it was like to have the army in the cities. I remember what it was like to have the army in my city and it did not then and will not now end well. What I read in your response is the bald bluster of a man who does not have nearly enough ammunition of any kind. Mental, spiritual, or actual.
Trust me that if such a dire situation should ever come to pass you will spend days hiding under your bed crying softly into your pillow.

CD, do you ever wake up and glance in the mirror and think "What a miserable little chunk of race-baiting offal"? Are you sad that the easy days of your inbred racism are over, that the well has at last run dry? You should be.

Simen Thoresen alerts us to the existence of Preparatio Mortis, a new work unveiled at the Vienna International Dance Festival and aimed at the discerning aesthete. Guided by Belgian artist and choreographer Jan Fabre, dancer Annabelle Chambon “tackles the still effective taboo ‘death’ and her b...

Today Means
Today means small things in practice, and great ideas in theory. Great ideas that a large number of us do not fully understand. We pursue without really grasping the ideal of happiness. But we are happy enough. I used to spend a great deal of time puzzling over what America is, how it operat...
What "negronova", "brotherbrown," and whatshisface are missing is one of the fundamental rules of the net. Which is that, at it's very foundations, the net is libertarian and must, from time to time, return to that root to refresh itself. Dot gov will be hacked and hacked well. Not an "if."
An Anonymous Democratic Reckoning
Government will be hacked. It will only be a matter of time before some anonymous cabal of hackers with the sort of philosophical bearing that lends itself to Rebublican morality will hack various parts of the American government. There will be a reckoning. It will work to our advantage on one c...

Getting Truth's Pants On
"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on." - Winston Churchill I was explaining to Jake the other evening. Explaining to Jake is one of the world's great pleasures. Why? Because Jake gets it. If I have any claim to intelligence, it is only that I am ...

A year without toilet paper, the movie
I previously mentioned the infamous NY Times article about the environmental nut who went a year without toilet paper (among other things). This week, I watched the “documentary” movie, No Impact Man, about Colin Beavan, the guy from the NY Times article. And “documentary” is in quotes because...

Impatience & Wisdom
By the time I finish writing this, it will officially be my fiftieth birthday. I got a card from my aunt. And so I know there is a lot more for me to do. I took a longer than usual look in the mirror this morning on the last day of my 40s and I recognize that I have accomplished something in my ...
Congratulations.
My kind of Church.
Except for the preacher, sometimes, who does go on about this or that or the other thing!
Thanks for the Prayers
got no plaque in their black
that would cover their back
and rip off the sack
from the sister's big rack
when she's all talkin' smack
at her daddy's rib shack
that's now under attack
from the man dressed in black
who ain't cuttin' slack
to those smokin' crack
and that's the fact

You know, I keep sending my demo and resume to Jay-Z but I never hear back. Should I start to include return postage?
Gil-Scott Heron: Dead
There is a poem by Nikki Giovanni that sums up in about 25 lines everything I think about black consciousness. I could write about it for years, but the essential thing to say doesn't take more than 30 seconds. There are lyrics in a song by Lionel Ritchie that sums up my confidence that I woul...

I think none of the above. When it comes to Progressives of all ilks these days, they just keep trying to keep the checks coming in in greater sums. West and his confreres are nothing but cheap race hustlers. You know it, I know it, they know it and everybody else with a cerebrum larger than that of a planeria knows it. It's just all sort of agreed to keep it on the Qt and the hush-hush.
Cornell West? The only thing to decide about this "distinguished" fool is "clown or clone." But why not both?
West v Obama
Well now isn't this a fine kettle of fish. The pot calling the President un-black, but in a rather blackified way. Confused? You should be. I caught a whiff of this controversy the other day. Apparently, Cornel West, the fine feathered public intellectual who gives verbal dap of all sorts on ev...
I read West's bitching and moaning. Short form: "You don't write. You don't call." He's like the crazed exgirlfriend in the coal mine.

A Rude Question for White People
I'm disappointed with Adam Serwer. Ever since I started following his blog at American Prospect, he seems to have gone short attention span theatre on me. I know that when you're in the zone, you can keep up with every little thing, but a lot of crap creeps in. For example, I have no reason to e...
