Diaper Bags: Best in Breed
I don't normally like to review products without a giveaway in it for you guys. But sometimes, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do... Especially when it involves a RIDICULOUSLY FABULOUS BAG. Meet my new Tribe Singapore Sling. It's a diaper bag. Yes, that's right— a diaper bag. Perhaps the...

Is it bad that I feel better after seeing that video?? Luckily, my boy doesn't throw tantrums nearly as long, though they can be ridiculous like not wanting to change clothes for school, or washing hands for dinner, or eating dinner....or an end to the iPhone, that's the worse.
Totally Unnecessary Tantrums
I've been talking a lot about the difficulty of raising a two-year-old. The video below is a healthy reminder of the trials and tribulations ahead. Meet Kristin, a three-year-old who really, really, REALLY doesn't want to bring her plate to the sink. Why? Well, it weighs 1000lbs, of course. Kr...
Can Dr. B pls share some of these docile toddlers with us b/c I certainly do not know a single one. I love that you scared a parent with an infant. Don't worry because she'll be scary someone 12 months from now. It's the circle of life.
How To Scare the Parents of a Newborn
As most seasoned parents will tell you, having a newborn is actually the easiest part of parenthood. Once you get past "the total and complete destruction of your wonderfully care-free childless lifestyle", of course. It was hard to believe at the time, but now that I am the mother to a squeal...
Have fun at the party! I did one of these a few months ago and met some awesome ppl. It's great hearing an intro of yourself. I don't mind poo either.
it's party time!
i guess i'm fashionably late to the party but welcome to my humble corner of the blogosphere; a place where i fulfill my weird, incessant need to ramble on about whatever is rattling on inside my head. some info about me and this blog: i'm a 30-something wanna be full-time blogger but ...
That is some serious swag!!! Hope my son loves sushi as much as your daughter does b/c WE LOVE IT!
weekend recap: beauty board, family time
i had a fabulous weekend. weather-wise, it was decent but had a blast with family, friends and discovered a great new sushi restaurant, thanks to a friend's reco. cuddles with her new (lootbag) toy | cuddles with daddy | kayla enjoying the new sushi restaurant. i'm so glad that my ki...
I would love to read this book! Bravo for you for actually reading it. Last time I read a full book was also before having our son.
I secretly eat junk food really fast in the kitchen so that my son won't/can't ask for any.
I've been so mad that I've almost hit my son. So shameful.
P.S. I love that we can all be honest here!!!!
Time to 'Fess Up
On Tuesday, I wrote a tough post about Mazzy acting out on a shopping trip and I want to thank you all so much for your sympathetic and helpful responses. (Above is Mazzy in happier times, aka the times I buy her love with ice cream and sprinkles.) I actually didn't post yesterday because I wa...
Wow, what a vivid memory of you have! in senior kindergarten over thumb sucking? you go girl! I hope my boy has as much courage as you to stand up for his beliefs! And bravo for not catering to whims of the world!
follow the leader? nah... not for me
[source] there's always that defining moment in one's life where a decision will have to be made to follow a group or not. for me, that moment came in senior kindergarten and i remember it clearly: her name was vivian. she had long, beautiful ringleted brown hair, always wore pretty dress...
I am SO jealous of your $200/wk stay!! Now THAT's why we get married ;). We are currently looking into rooms at the beach - more like $200/night! Ugh. And a day by yourself?! I'm so jealous. Heck, I'd like just a few hrs by myself!!! And hurray on the 30-day shred. I've got a JM DVD that I started last Jan and haven't touched since. She's a killer, in a good way!
random update: life, health, my weekend alone
[source] i've been posting a lot of product reviews lately which means that i'm going to hate myself when i get my next credit card bill. more product reviews are coming (gah!) but i'll space those out and instead, i bring you an update about what i've been up to. first off, i'd like to e...
Congrats on great accomplishments. It really is about the measurements, not just body weight, that's a true measure of success!
operation anti-lumpiness update - 4 months later...
i was really hesitant to post these pics because it feels weird to expose myself like this but then i figured since i talk a lot about vaginas and poop on the regular, this isn't too far off. this is me, about 4 months since i started operation anti-lumpiness. unfortunately, i didn't take...
Random acts of kindness via snail mail -- nice!

[source] man, i'm on a roll! 2012, high-five me now, biaaaaaaaaatch! sticking to my 2012 goal of eating healthy? check! (gah! i just realized that i'm no where near accomplishing my goal of getting organized) actually losing weight and sticking to the 30 day shred program? double check...
Congrats on turning 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my blog turned 2!
i realized 2 weeks after the date passing that my blog turned 2 years old. on march 21 2010, i created the dreamybabies blog to help parents struggling with their babies' sleep, provide general information on parenthood and give support for moms who needed it. it was a blog with tons of...
Instead of crying, my blood boils, my heart rate skyrockets, and I cannot even look at my kid during a terrible tantrum like that! Happened about 3x last week. And every day before dinner. Sigh. Overstimulating might have been a factor since she was in a new place. Happened to us at the zoo. At the mall. Ugh. I'm learning to take deep breaths, not only for my son's sake, but also for my own health! You are brave to be so open - tks!
The Saturday That Broke Me
It's important that you understand, I'm typically a pretty laid back parent. Someone asked me in the comments of the post about Mazzy favoring her father, how much it really bothered me. I thought about that for awhile. It bothers me but not in any impactful sort of way. It is fact. Motherhood...
Hello! My friend Jen Kakio read my latest post on (trying) to deal with tantrums in my 20-month-old and recommended I read your latest post. It was a great post! You and your daughter have a great system, and I'm REALLY impressed that a 2-yr old can handle all that you wrote!! AMAZED. Can't wait to read more -- I'm subscribing!
i admit it - i'm a strict parent
[source] everyone in my family thinks i'm too strict with kayla. i guess in some ways, they're sort of right but i have my reasons. i'm a firm believer that if you start early at teaching acceptable behavior and setting boundaries, you're less likely to have behavioral issues later on.......
She's a regular Suri Cruise ;)
The Cool Kids
I was not a cool kid when I was little. I might have been cute but I lacked confidence. My daughter on the other hand walks this earth like she owns it. Piccolini (a Manhattan based kid's shop) sent Mazzy a pair of Wayfarer sunglasses a few weeks ago, and she has not left the house without th...

22 Butchered Words By Toddlers (Part 2)
After the success of my first butchered words post, I got so many additional great responses that I had to put together a second. Again, these are all graphic representations of actual mispronounced words from the mouths of toddlers, reported by readers. Some adorable, some amusing and some that...
Here's my tweet, awesome infographics or whatever they're called, too! https://twitter.com/#!/lisacng/status/187264028391911424
Saving Feet, One LEGO at a Time (Giveaway)
GIVEAWAY: Toydozer, see end of post for details I feel like I've been mentioning the extreme pain of stepping on a LEGO barefoot a little too often lately. I know I referenced it at least twice this month— both in Porn for Moms of Toddlers and Mathematical Mom Problems. And then I started noti...
Very useful toydozer! The toy that wreaks the most havoc are my son's little trains and cars. And actually, all the dog bones. Unrelated.

What venue is this box seat? And we need them everywhere!
Maybe She'll Join the Circus
Last weekend, I took Mazzy to the circus with my mom and my sister. I haven't been to the circus since I was about ten so it was very interesting to see it from an adult perspective. For one thing, on the drive in, we passed all the traveling trailers lined up in the parking lot. It was a mass...
Love the Method products! Good to know they are lick-able :D. The last picture IS hilarious!
Clean Like A Mother
One of the loveliest things about having a young child is their desire to lick everything in sight. Mazzy has half her hand in her mouth at all times and the only reason she takes her hand out is to put something else in it's place. What qualifies as something worth chomping on? Pretty much a...
Aw, kinda adorable! At least you wont be blamed for the aggressive behavior! LOL
When Did the Tomboy Arrive?
Mazzy likes her father more than me. I made that clear last week. This is true for most little girls, I've heard, so I'm trying not to take it too personally. HOWEVER. Mazzy's love of Daddy goes beyond her need to be around him— it's a need to BE LIKE HIM as well. The most clear example of thi...
We get the disappearing shoulder all the time! Great tool -- I was thinking about using just a kitchen timer, but this one's just so cool. Wish it were $15 and not $30 though! I instituted the 5-min warning for bath time, and it's been ok so far. It's just getting him into the tub that's a challenge at time. Tks for sharing!
Dr. B Puts Your Kid On The Clock
Since the brilliant Dr. B is incredibly busy these days (in addition to her full-time job, she has also taken on a gig as an adjunct professor— the nerve!), I am forced to relay her expertise second hand. Today I want to tell you about a ridiculously useful tool that she gave us as a gift last ...
As if I'm already not attractive enough in bed...I have this now :)
Life-Changing Hair Tutorial
I don't normally talk beauty unless I have made a very exciting discovery. The last one was buying men's skinny jeans for myself— which I still do. This one is about MY NEW HAIR. Ever since I began posting my YouTube show (new episode up today!), people have been asking me to do a hair tutorial...
instagram is aweseome! seriously, you can't take a bad picture :). i hate timeline too.
Boobies, B-Ball and Beautiful Hair
Last week, I did a post featuring a heat-free curls tutorial that literally changed my life (see curls pictured left— I get better at them every day!). I cannot tell you how many people have commented, tweeted, and emailed since then, telling me how well the tutorial worked for them (see Exhbit...
Tourniquet and losange - only got the 1st one! LOL
6 Year-old Outspells Total D-U-M-B-A-S-S
On Friday, Laurie Ann Madison, age 6, won a place in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee by beating out her elementary school and middle school competitors. She will be the youngest kid to ever compete for the title. To demonstrate Laurie's skills, Fox 5 DC pitted her against one of thei...
