Hi Evie It's a gocco printing machine that I bought on ebay. I don't think they make them anymore so ebay is your best bet and you can get the supplies you need for it from various places on etsy by doing a search for gocco supplies. Good luck!
Hi there. Just found your blog through I Like (www.ilike.org.uk) and I love it! This stuff is right up my street. My uncle is the last printer who used traditional typesetting in Scotland (www.the-old-school.demon.co.uk/chepman-myllar.htm) and had tons of these trays and other bits and peices around for ages, I wasn't in a position then to take any of them unfortunately. Great blog!

this is wonderful ulla. i was considering doing plant taxonomy for a while and am also fascinated by botanical illustration - although like you i prefer the discections and detailed studies of odds and ends rather than full blown illustrations of a whole flower. these are magnificent!!! i want huge versions of them adorning my walls! i'm going to get totally lost in that link :)

so nice ulla. my mum was the same - and still is (though not so much with the making of things!) and often reports back to me on what the fairies in the garden have been saying lately (usually it's something about me :D) - so it really never has to end!

these are fantastic! i especially love the top one. the story of how they came about reminds me of when i was at college and my friends and i used to pretend we were 'on holiday' in the living room and sit around in bikinis drinking cocktails and take 'holiday snaps' to record our trips.

Lovely - I just had a look at the pages from these books you have posted up. I love what you've written about it too, especially about how it helps you to understand your own creative process. I find mine both grounding and inspirational in equal measure.
