Agree with Sophie and Leah - we should all get involved in the latest consultation, I really hope local people can use this as a forum to find simple ways to get the area working. A few of us are interested in calming the gyratory system (Euston York Way Pentonville etc) and claiming the area back into local 'ownership' for people who want the streets to be more liveable and walkable. The 20C traffic system and streets need to be reformed for the 21C. Greg livingstreetskx.blogspot.com
I attended this event in June - is anyone interested in following it up? http://livingstreetskx.blogspot.com/2010/06/transition-towns.html
Thanks for the update - let's hope that with the architects being held to doing their job properly, and helping their client to contribute appropriately to the streetscape, we may have a suitable use of York Way!
Whatever happened to Urban Initiatives' proposals and the 'public consultation' in 2009? http://www.camden.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/environment/planning-and-built-environment/major-developments/king-s-cross/ Camden Planning tel. 7974 4444
Whether or not it should be in the form of a Business Improvement District (BiD), a local-interest led, and joined-up approach to planning Kings Cross is certainly necessary, and it is not happening at the moment. There are dozens of agencies, besides planners at Camden and Islington and the railways, none of which have yet made the station precinct workable for local people. Improvement groups like Kings Cross Railway Lands Group (http://www.kxrlg.org.uk/) has worked for years on this, and KXRLG and Create Kings Cross (http://www.createkx.org.uk/) are intended to represent local people and business. Would it be worth telephoning Transport for London’s planning officers for our neighbourhood to talk about this state of affairs and to find some ways of moving forward?
