Amazon has announced that its new sci-fi anthology series Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams will premiere on Friday, January 12, exclusively on Prime Video. Based on various writings from author Philip K. Dick, each of the ten standalone episodes are set in a different and unique world - some which lay in the far reaches of the universe, and others which are much closer to home. While the stories may be worlds apart, central to each is the poignant and warm exploration of the importance and significance of humanity. From five to 5000 years in the future, each compelling tale... Continue reading

After having spent too much time at trade shows we started growing restless and felt the urge for exploration take over. With no specific plan or agenda we embarked on a trip to Japan, leaving behind all expectations and letting local friends as well as our own curiosities guide our way to the goods. Travelling with that kind of mindset opens doors to new experiences and leaves room for spontaneity. Each day we saw new places, had different adventures, met kind and welcoming people, and enjoyed plenty of powder. Featuring: Atsufumi Mizuno, Nicholas Wolken, Aaron Schwartz, Stephan Maurer and Yoshiyuki... Continue reading

In times like these, in which man dominates nature so heavily, untouchedness, wilderness and loneliness are more and more rare. Thus the true values of freeriding also vanish. In times like these, real adventures threaten to be replaced by virtual experiences in front of computer- and TV-displays. But they still exist - the magical places. Winter landscapes of such extraordinary beauty and seclusion, which seemed to be lost. Places that show us what we have lost in the presence of civilization and consumption. A place with this extraordinary charm is the village of Bakhmaro in Georgia. Well hidden at 2,000... Continue reading

Reposted from my previous blog found via the Internet Archive Wayback machine. 14 October 2009, Wednesday 9:58 P GMT+09 Two days earlier my wife had checked into the Red Cross hospital in Morioka, Iwate at the doctor's recommendation so that they could run more tests on her and our child. Our Son was anticipated to be born at the end of October, I was to leave for Iwate the following week and had purchased a reserved Shinkansen ticket the week prior. My wife had decided to have the baby in Iwate since that is where her parents live, they could... Continue reading

There's no telling how many guns we have in America—and when one gets used in a crime, no way for the cops to connect it to its owner. The only place the police can turn for help is a Kafkaesque agency in West Virginia, where, thanks to the gun lobby, computers are illegal and detective work is absurdly antiquated. On purpose. Thing is, the geniuses who work there are quietly inventing ways to do the impossible.
