Turns out I have to write this article in separate segments because I have too much material for this particular subject. I keep writing and rewriting it because there is too much to say and it’s all over the place. So maybe one day I could follow up on other... Continue reading

Previously, I wrote about the importance of building a healthy sense of self-concept and the balance between thinking of yourself, as well as others. I want to expand on the concept of balance, which is an big theme in my life. Sometimes I get the feeling that we live in... Continue reading

The subject of identity has always been a fascinating subject to me. As an experiment, I wanted to write about it now, before next semester, when I take my class on the fundamental aspects of personality. I thought it would be interesting to come back and review what I have... Continue reading

I stood behind the building, took out my pack of cigarettes and counted. There were only seven left. Seven. I put them away and took a few deep breaths. I really liked Oliver, he was a good kid. He was a bit too curious for his own good, but a... Continue reading

Chapter 2 The next morning, as the sun began to rise on the horizon, I took a moment to walk outside. My heart raced at first, not being used to going outside when it was this dark. My thoughts were still stuck on the nightmare I had just experienced. My... Continue reading

Untitled Story Introduction I always thought I had understood myself well. I wanted the same things as everyone else. I wanted a successful career, a nice car and a house. I dreamt of travelling to Europe the moment I finished school. There was nothing more appealing than winning the lottery... Continue reading

Before I could get very far, Ben had ran over and caught up with me. He was wondering why I was so quick to move on, but I avoided mentioning the small fight I just had with Oliver. In truth, it bothered me that the boy was right. I obviously... Continue reading

Here we go again, I thought to myself. Images of the house we had stayed in the night before kept flickering in my mind, as if my soul was asking me to go back there. Perhaps to get me to stay there, just a little longer. We quickened our pace,... Continue reading

As the day progressed, it began to get colder and colder. This made our travelling today a little unpleasant. We managed to keep ourselves entertained, talking about anything and everything. Telling stories, describing old memories, as well as newer ones. We even sang a few songs, remembering to keep our... Continue reading

I'm purely guessing here, for the fun of it. Russian and Iran have been floating around in this story for quite some time now. I don't see much of a climax in that story. Something would've happened by now. I think we need to start rethinking war. Back in the day, war was fought face-to-face, man against man. Times have changed. We like to look at it in a physical way, cause that's all we've ever known. Even missile attacks or biological warfare fit into the physical/painful description. But psychological abuse can be far more traumatizing than physical abuse. Perhaps we should start looking at the rising power of China.... It was subtle for a while, but look around you. America is becoming increasingly dependent on China for its economy. (Canada as well for that matter) Everything on the shelves these days is made in China. Clothes, accessories, everything in dollar stores and even food... Globalization has become the norm now. The US can't survive on its own at this point. And China carries the largest portion of the US debt apparently. Once America truly realizes it's dependency issues, China can rain as much psychological trauma as it wants. They will be the ones in complete control. The United States has been #1 for so long... they're very attached to that image and they completely identify with it.
Hours had passed and I finally drifted into a fragile state of sleep. Dreams were dancing in and out of my mind. I couldn't seem to hold on to one specifically. Were they even dreams at all? Or perhaps, I was only reliving some old memories? I wasn't sure. Kath's... Continue reading

We had been walking for what seemed like an entire day, but in truth, it had been only about 4 or 5 hours. I knew we wouldn't see an actual town until tomorrow late in the day. Without having any kind of vehicle, the time it took for us to... Continue reading

After a heavy discussion, the whole group decided it would be better to leave as earliest as possible. We agreed to leave the following morning, as soon as the sun would come up. This would give us as much time as possible to travel during the day. We set a... Continue reading

Oliver quickly followed me outside. - Liz! Wait, he yelled from the front porch. I haven't secured the blue area yet! - Apparently, it's safe enough, so don't worry about it, I yelled without looking back. - But wait... Liz! Where are you going!? I continued walking forward, looking straight... Continue reading

Katherine and Ben were sitting and talking near the wood stove. They had gotten quite close ever since we moved there. A small fire was burning and filled the cabin with a nice smell. It lit up a small portion of the interior of our home. I walked up to... Continue reading
