This past Christmas Santa left a pogo stick for the girls. From the get-go it was clear that MonkE was not yet heavy enough to put the thing to use. Funky B was big enough but the first few attempts at it were less than encouraging. It was put to the side for a short bit and then rediscovered. Guess who has the lead in her class play? That's right! My girl. It is, admittedly, a kindergarten class play about a goat herder and which will probably last 7 minutes from start to finish, but still...she got the lead! She recognizes that this as something of which to be proud. She noted that she has ten lines where everyone else has one or two. She goes on stage first and gets off last. Valentine's Day snuck up on us this year. As of Sunday morning there wasn't a heart to be seen in our house, unless you count those that beat but they don't really count because they can only be heard, not seen. Anyways, Sunday morning I brought out the hearts from years past and decorated the house. Then I brainstormed how to make Valentine cards for the girls to distribute at school. i knew there was a reason i picked up that 16" straw wreath a while back. it's been waiting patiently in the back of our car for weeks until inspiration would strike. like it did last year. and the year before. and it did. in fact, this was done by a pair of 5-year olds. they came up with the idea at the craft store yesterday while we were in search of snowy inspiration. one look at the white boas and they were hooked. be still my heart. I insisted on a walk which we dialed back from Tilden to instead heading out for sushi. We stopped at Bittersweet for a warm up. Mister spooned hot chocolate into the baby bird. Oh, yes, she likes it. Continue »
