Yup... pretty much what one can expect from Der Spiegel. Poor Obama, tsk tsk, poor baby.
Great interview with Carl Rove, though.
One thing is that Rove has gotten into a bit of trouble here at home with the comment that the Tea Party people aren't "sophisticated". The reason is because too many people don't understand his context, and he should have stated it more carefully, with a view to different ethnic views.
You see, to a Southerner-- and Rove is from Texas-- "sophisticated" is a pejorative term. It refers to people who are more concerned about using the right spoon to stir their tea than they are about substantive matters. Northern folks here heard about that and were annoyed at him.
Rove was on the Hannity show today, and clarified that he WAS using that in the Southern mode. He was saying that the Tea Party people are people who will call a spade a spade-- or a damn shovel, if that clarifies the meaning-- and are not concerned at all about "nuance" and other "sophisticated" methods of communication and accomplishing things. He was being complimentary to us, not critical. ;)
Der Spiegel Commentary: Obama Failing because of "Hate-Mongers, Gun Freaks and Tea Party Demagogues"
A wonderful and unbiased analysis by master Amerika Experte and Spiegel author Klaus Brinkbäumer as to why Barack Obama is no longer as popular as he once was - (complete with a photo gallery compiled to feed the deeply ingrained stereotypes and Feindbilder of the German left.) Favorite Germa...
Thank God Germany is waking as the One tries to work his supposed Mojo on the EU people. It is a great relief to see that at least ONE government in the world is making some headway toward responsibility!
If things don't straighten out here in the US soon, we could have a revolution brewing. The Democratic leadership seems to have no clue how pissed off the American people are!
SPD Defeat: The Chickens Come Home to Roost for the Party of Gazprom Gerhard
Out of ideas and without any hope of a last minute hate-America hail-mary pass or flood disaster to rally the party faithful à la Gazprom Gerhard Schroeder, the SPD gets destroyed in German elections. With just 23% of the vote, Schroeder wannabe Steinmeier and company will be riding the back ben...
Phil, WWII is over.
I'm sure it's hard to notice that, given that it's been 60-something years and all, but I seriously doubt an apology is forthcoming for stopping Hitler.
Putz!

Phil, my dear, re: "Hello, you think there is going to be a Hollywood movie about the US fighting on the side of of Uncle Joe Stalin soon?"
... there have ALREADY been numerous WWII films, from Hollyweird and elsewhere, depicting the US and USSR on the same side. You're a few decades behind the curve.
BTW, the US sent the USSR $11 billion in aid (in 1940's dollars) to help them out during the war, and the USSR never paid us back. In fact, no one else in Europe did, either, except the UK. No one else paid us back for wartime aid, nor for postwar reconstruction.
Maybe we should call those old loans due, with interest.

Hmmm... one way to fight this cretin would be to make immediate donations to Soldiers' Angels.
On my way over there right now!
Thank you, Mikey, you've reminded me that my latest donation is past due! :D
Oh Yes It Did
Alas, this is a day with a second red pill target. Right now, it appears that Patsfanin Philly was right about the spin from Goodell and the NFL (and eventual outcome when they realized what they had stuck into was a 220 socket)(UPDATE: as noted below and elsewhere, the NFL will make good), but i...
Eury, Hillary HAS won the largest electoral college states.
AND she has the popular vote if you count the votes of the people of Florida and Michigan.
The problem in the Democratic party is a need to discount the VOTES of the people of those two states, which was never a part of their rule. Their rule was only about seating the state delegates. It was OBAMA and the others who were stupid enough to take their names off the ballot in Michigan.
Is it finally over for Hillary?

Iain Murray, exactly, but there's even more to it than that.
Hillary has won the biggest ELECTORAL COUNT states. Michigan and Florida are two of them.
The problem is, as you said, that they have GOT to either somehow COUNT the votes from Florida and Michigan, which gives Hillary the popular vote, or they've got to shut the hell up about Florida 2000, and fall all over themselves apologizing in order to regain credibility with a very big portion of the nation.
The popular vote thing goes like this. Hillary won Florida clearly, with all Democrat candidates on the ballot there.
In Michigan, it was a different story. BUT... the difference in the story is that Hillary won 55% of the vote, but while Obama and the other candidates took their names off the ballot before the Michican primary, there was a choice for "Other", which won the other 45% of the vote.
There were either five or six candidates at the time of the Michigan primary, so all of the remainder got the 45%.
The sticky wicket there is that even if you give Obama ALL of the other 45% of the vote, Hillary STILL wins the popular vote, and it puts her current popular vote number over Obama's.
The delegatations from Florida and Michigan can not be seated according to the DNC rules.
However, there is no rule-- and no possibilitiy that there CAN be a rule-- saying that the votes cast in those states are somehow invalid.
The votes are supposed to count toward the popular vote total. The delegations can't be seated, but the votes of the people can't be discounted.
Obama's gang are trying to eliminate the votes of the people in Florida and Michigan.
The delegates and the people's votes are two different things, and Obama's group are trying to muddy the water on that.

Tim, re: "If Obama bombed in the ABC debate... so did ABC. Lots and lots of complaints about the focus on "gotcha" moments rather than real issues"
Actually, there are those of us out here who are THRILLED that Obama was finally asked those "gotcha" questions. It's about damned time!
And Jack... I'm predicting a 40+ state sweep for McCain in November.
Why? Because Americans do NOT want our troops just arbitrarily yanked out of Iraq.
Also, Obama's "improvemements" for our government are going to START at around $6 trillion. The man has zero intelligence on the topic of the economy.
America doesn't notice Broon meeting "Boosh"

There are reports coming from a radio station in Baton Rouge that a loose barge struck the 17th Street levee just before the serious flooding began. Of all the ridiculous rumors floating around, this one at least has the "authority" of numerous eye witnesses.
And as for the "right wing" story about the levee being "blown up", one radio talk show host may be trying to make a case for it, but it is mostly LEFT-wing web sites and Air America media bellowing about it, saying that BUSH blew it up to get rid of the Democratic majority in New Orleans. Do a Google on "New Orleans levee breech blown" or some combination of that, and you will see what I mean. Most of the RIGHT wing is laughing at this preposterous story.
Silly, I know, but I did want you to blame the correct side for keeping this nonsense going ;).
