So, I'm going to have to agree with the majority; Italy is waiting for you and the sooner the better!
And one random thing about me......hmmm, well I LOVE my feet to be rubbed. If you make me mad, all you have to do is rub my feet for awhile and all is forgotten. (My husband knows this little fact all too well.)
ten random things about me
One of the great things about blogging is becoming part of a wonderful virtual community of friends. Sometimes, I feel like we're sitting around a table at Chili's eating Molten Chocolate Cake and talking and laughing until they finally kick us out because they want to sweep under our table and ...
I plan on doing quite a bit of Spring cleaning with my kids, too. Hopefully, by the end of the week, the house will be more organized and there will be a big pile of stuff to take to the DI.
spring break and spring cleaning
Today marks the first day of "A's" last spring break of his high school career. But he's not celebrating.... He'll be spending the week doing his Financial Literacy class and his AP Art Portfolio. Since we are heading out on a humanitarian service trip later this spring, he's got to get it...
Amen.
this easter morning
On this beautiful Easter morning, we are celebrating. We are rejoicing. And we are grateful... for the atoning sacrifice of God's own son, and the gift of new life that He gives us because He gave His own. Several years ago, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of Th...
Your favorite weekend of the year? What makes April Conference Weekend better than October Conference Weekend?
my favorite weekend of the year
It's LDS General Conference Weekend! One of my favorite weekends of the year. Thousands will gather on Temple Square to attend in the Conference Center as well as the Tabernacle. The rest of us all across the world will watch on television or the internet. Conference is audio broadcast in ...
I am NOT a morning person. I have always been more of a night owl, but there are things about mornings I do like. Like you, I like to hear the birds chirping outside my open bedroom window on summer mornings and I do enjoy sleeping in when I can.
on being a morning person
Morning in El Salvador by "A", my 17 year old son .. List 8: What I Love About Morning the sounds of the early birds outside my window, especially when it's warm enough to sleep with the window open. watching the sunrise. being up before anyone else. ("D" is more of a morning person than me...
Sometimes, I wonder if I would've lived at that time if I would've converted to the church and if I had would I have been faithful enough to leave the comfort an familiarity of my home to go somewhere else and suffer great hardships just so that I can practice my faith with other believers and without persecution.
That is also one of my favorite hymns and I get goosebumps whenever I hear it or sing it.
a hymn of my ancestors
In the mid-1800's, humble people across Europe, and throughout the United States began hearing the message of the Mormon missionaries-- of the Book of Mormon, and that the Church of Jesus Christ had been restored. Many of my ancestors in England and Wales and Denmark heard and believed this mess...
Really, JoLyn? I can't believe you just told people to go to a BYU football game when they should REALLY go to a U of U football game! GO UTES!!!
Then, after the game, they go to Porter's Place in Lehi and have the best steak of their lives!
ten things to do if you come to visit--or even if you live here
There are probably at least a dozen travel books that could tell you what you should do when you visit Utah. But wouldn't you rather hear it from someone who lives here? So here's my list: List 5: Ten Things to Do in Utah If You Come To Visit (or Even If You Live Here) Visit a National...
Those pics are so legit! I LOVE the one of your grandson in the cabinet; reminds me another little explorer that I know......
family outtakes
I have no words. Care to give it a try?
Today, I'm grateful for antibiotics and a healthy immune system. I'm also grateful for friends who call to check up on me while I'm sick.
sunday gratitude
This early Sunday morning, I'm feeling grateful. Grateful for: yesterday's snow, which gives us another week before we have to prune our apple trees. (I knew there was a reason I could be glad for snow in March!) . opportunities to start fresh. . friends--new and old. . my sweet little gr...
What a great list and pics! I may have to steal your idea and post it on my blog!
the three 3's that inspire me
On her blog yesterday, my cute cousin posted her favorite things in threes-- and she invited her readers to do the same. Her favorites inspired me.... and so I'm doing it! These are the three 3's that lift me up, encourage me, and motivate me to keep going. Songs Come to Jesus by Kenneth Cope...
I graduated in 1999 and I was watching Titanic on the VHS at least once a day. I was listening to Kenny Chesney, Barenaked Ladies, and Collective Soul (not much has changed there). I was singing along to "Baby Hit Me One More Time" by Brittany Spears. I was wearing jeans and T-shirts (still nothing has changed). I got engaged and got married later in the year. I went to the theater to watch Star Wars Episode I. And, I worked at Albertson's.
remembering 1979
Today I sat down and listened to some music with my 17 year old son who will graduate from high school in a couple of months. We listened to his IPod and he played the guitar along with some of his favorite bands. Believe me, I really enjoyed the moment. Times like that with a teenage...
There are too many things that I'm grateful for to list them all, but my top five are: 1)My husband and kids, 2)My family, 3)My friends (including you), 4)The gospel and everything that goes with it, 5)Nature.

WOW!!! You've got one talented kid! He should totally get into a profession that involves photography or drawing when he grows up.
el salvador at dawn
As I told you here, we went to El Salvador last November on a humanitarian services trip. After a week of really long working days, we were given a day of rest and recuperation at a beach-side resort. On our last morning, our 17-year-old son "A" got up early, and with his little Coolpix camer...
Great pics! Never have had that kind of treasure hunt experience, but maybe one day.....
what's in the attic?
Ever since I was a teenager, I've wished for an attic full of old things. Not "old" like the junk that's stuffed in boxes in my storage room. I mean really old. Like antique clothing and furniture, and old photographs, and long forgotten love letters. I remember when I first got on this...
He is so stinkin' cute!! When are you going to get your kiddie pool full of balls for him to play in?
playing grandma
. . I got to play grandma the other day while "J" was working. I love it. I love that this little guy recognizes me and is excited to see me. I love it when he falls asleep in my arms. I love the smell of his baby soft skin. And I love taking pictures of him. No matter ...
That was a great vid! I absolutely LOVE the girls in our ward! Because of them, I am optimistic about future generations. They are a wonderful group of girls.
some of the best yet
I was talking with a lady today who was upset. She feels like the youth of today have lost their manners. She was quite opinionated about how they have become rude, and self-centered, and disrespectful. I have to disagree. . As a youth leader for the teenage girls ages 12-13 in my Chu...
Did somebody say chocolate?!?!
chocolate solves everything
I have this wonderful friend. You know the kind of friend... it might be a week, or a month, since you've really talked. But the minute you get together, you pick up as if in mid-conversation, right where you left off before. Every now and then, as soon as her little ones are in bed, this w...

'a' is for artister
One day when 'A' was about three, he was sitting at the kitchen table drawing a picture. He sat back and looked at his picture, and said, "I think I'm gonna be an artister!" I've never forgotten it. And I've quietly watched as 'A' has drawn his pictures, and filled his sketchbooks and his p...

"It's time to go to bed, it's time to go to sleep, it's time to be quiet. If I have to come up here again, you WILL get a spankin'." That one was, actually, something my dad used to say to us when we were little. And, it was said to him when he was little. I know this has no wisdom to it what-so-ever, but the kids would be wise to follow it.
hand me downs
When I was a kid, it seemed like I was always hunting for something I couldn't find. Like my shoes, or my homework, or my purple spiro pen. And my mother would tell me, "My mother always said, 'Start cleaning up and you'll find it.'" Now when my kids can't find something they are hunting f...
I don't know.....Sam is only four and he won't let me take his pic very often. And, Gracie....she moves around too much for me to get a good pic of her. But, I'm sure it's still easier now than it will be when they get older.
speaking of kids
. Don't you just love little kids? . . They let you take their picture anytime you want. They are so uninhibited and full of smiles and laughter. Then they grow up, and become very uncooperative when you try to get a good shot. . . I say, take advantage while they're young. Take a...
