Kate - it is beautiful! I love how you incorporated your love of writing! Did you send for the book?
BTW - You probably have a million of these, but I've awarded you a "Kreative Blogger" award.
Seeing...SoFoBoMo
I finished my SoFoBoMo project this weekend and uploaded it to Blurb today. Unfortunately, I won't actually be uploading it to the SoFoBoMo website, as I just don't have the time right now to format the 80 pages in PDF files. I'm OK with that as I carried the project through to book form, w...
Exciting times for you Kate. Seeing the beginning of your new place, even tho it is clearing trees. And it sounds like a perfect day at the beach. I LOVE the beach so I'm a tad jealous.
Only Kindness Matters
This weekend brought a visit with old friends...friends that we see more of in Mexico than Canada...a relaxing pedicure (it's been soooo long!) and a picnic at the beach. Does it get any better than this?? The picture above is of Ethan and his friend Darien at the beach. They've been fri...
Wow, Kate! What a fantastic weekend you had. I love the way you process your photos and I cannot wait to see your SoFoBoMo book. I too am going slow, but I really do need to kick it into high gear.
Indulgence
In contrast to Saturday's high energy, Sunday was all about slow, relaxing indulgence. We lunched at a lovely restaurant on the edge of the ocean which just happens to be located "around the corner" (that's a country corner!) from where our new home will be located. our table and the ocean ...
Beautiful photo and processing. I like your new, cooler look too. Have a great week, Kate!
Sweet Sundays
I hope your Sunday was the perfect Sunday for you...perhaps you had time to sit on a bench somewhere, surrounded by flowers, contemplating the perfection of life in all it's varying moments of bliss and yes, even pain. A big hug to all of the mothers that visit here...your job is immense an...
Wonderful poem, Kate! And I love your layers on the photo! I too am enjoying May - watching Mother Nature spring back to life. Once again I am listening to the wind whisper through the trees - the sound rolls to me like waves!
May
Just as my sheep herding dog pushes her soft wet nose against my leg and nudges me towards her food bowl, May nudges me, gently but surely, towards new life unfolding. With gentle warmth and laden boughs, May enfolds me as I rest my weary head against her scented bark. On soft and silky bre...
How wonderful! You are celebrating what is to come instead of mourning what was. That says a LOT about you Kate, and that you do not dwell on the past. Excellent! Enjoy a few days of rest and relaxation!!
Moving out, Moving on.
Where is....? Have you seen the....? Those are the most frequently repeated words around here these days. We have boxes packed for storage, boxes packed to move to Meghan's place and boxes packed for short term storage at a friends place, just in case we might need them sooner. Chaos rei...
Oh Kate! You must be swamped right now with only two days left! Hang in there and stay strong - we all miss you and are wishing you well. I think that on Friday you should celebrate with a spa day -- or at least a massage!
BTW - I've changed my virtual home from Martie's Place to So Many Roads!
Springtime on Moss Street
Moss Street is Victoria's favourite street at this time of year. Its lined with clouds of pink blossoming cherry trees for block after gorgeous block. As they begin to fade, the petals fall like gentle snowflakes forming a carpet of soft pink "snow" underfoot. Each year when I see this lovely s...
Gorgeous photo and wonderful words!

It really does sound like you are ready for a change, and that is good. The process of packing and physically leaving (I think) is bitter-sweet. The leaving the familiar, the sights, sounds smells. Leaving the memories. But clearing out and making room for all sorts of new things. Good luck!
Minimalism
Meet the beautiful Fawn Lily that grows wild in our forests on the pacific coast. She's dainty and delicate, loves the shade and is also known as Trout Lily, Dog's Tooth Violet and Adders Tongue in other parts of North America. Yesterday, while we were trying to decide just where to situate...
Looks like you have found the perfect spot - and the fact that it was a surprise makes it all the more wonderful! And to be by the ocean! Perfection!! I hope you go ahead with the roof deck. I imagine you will spend hours, and hours up there.
The House
Who slept here before I came, who lived in this room how did it look was it the same? Was there a girl or two, a little boy? A house filled with toys, with joys, with dreams… Or was it just a lonely place with empty beds and silent rooms. Was it always filled with gloom? And did the house lon...
I think you better call Sears! You can tell the tech it's not appliance abuse, but owner abuse by appliance! :-)
My House Is Trying to Kill Me
I keep getting electrocuted by my househould appliances. Namely, the dishwasher. Whenever I touch it and the sink (which is right by the dishwasher) you get quite a jolt. I guess this weekend I'll put in a call to grandpa to see if he can walk me through what to do, because it's getting an...
Isn't he clever? Probably the pants with the biggest pockets he owns! Way to go! And he does look like it was fun!
Easter = Full Pockets
100_0934, originally uploaded by Heathen Girl. The pockets in those shorts are stuffed full of plastic eggs filled with candy, not to mention the 1/2 dozen he is hiding behind his back!
They are gorgeous - and what fun they must be to make. Like eating M&M candies when you are too full for a regular chocolate bar! :-)
Q52 - Manilla Tag Mini Journal
Just before I left for Mexico in January, I mentioned that I thought I would take part in Emily Falconbridge's Q52 mini art journal. Emily poses a question every week and the idea is to create a small visual piece of art on a manilla tag (or an ATC) with journalling on the back and then put...
Kate - thanks for this post! I hadn't heard about it, but I am going to participate. At Christmas time I did a very small Blurb photo book - under 30 photos. I loved the photos but I was a bit disappointed in the book (it needs to be larger!).
I think you should do this too. It would be a great way to remember the move and while it will be stressful, I bet it would become a great stress-reliever in the future when you thumb through it!
SoFoBoMo
While I was in San Miguel de Allende last month, I was invited by a local blogger to get together for coffee. We (and our husbands) had a great, albeit short, visit at Starbucks one morning...and yes, there's even a Starbucks in San Miguel, located in yet another of the town's numerous tranq...
Oh Kate, how wonderful for you! But you know what? You ARE a great artist and should not be surprised that people seek you out and that your work is sought after. This is wonderful, but nothing more than you deserve. Congratulations!!
Illuminating Mystery
While I was in Mexico this winter, I received an email from Christine Valters Paintner of Abby of the Arts, asking if I would be interested in participating in a publication that she was in the process of putting together. I immediately shot back a response with a resounding "YES!" (Findin...
She's a beauty - and she'll grow up to be witchy woman!
Jezebel
Jezebel, originally uploaded by Heathen Girl. Meet miss Jezebel. The newest addition to our family. She is under a year old, completely black with green eyes. She is such a lover too!
Busy, busy, busy! Wishing you all the best for a fast return to health and the strength you need for the times ahead.
Gorgeous tulips!
My Life in a Word
Coughing. Sneezing. Recuperating. Freezing. Sleeping. Babysitting. Packing. Planning. Dreaming. Loving. Smiling. That sums it up!
Hopefully you are back on your feet and strong again by now! LOVE your new look and title. I think you chose perfectly - and you may have chosen "inspire" to be your motto and spring board, but the word is perfect in another sense as well. You inspire others, myself included. So, well done Kate!
All your photos here are lovely, but the one with the ribbons tied to the window really speaks to me.
Things that caught my eye...
and my camera lens while walking around Mexico. I'm back home now...I actually arrived home several days ago but I've been layed flat with a cross border bug. Viruses have no concept of the idea of borders! It's not my idea of a holiday souvenir, but hey...it didn't take up any room at all in...
That is just beautiful!
Confession
That is TOTALLY you! I'm apparently cocaine:
You're dynamic, brilliant, and alluring to those who don't know you.
Hyper and full of energy, you're usually the last one to leave a party.
Sometimes your sharp mind gets the better of you... you're a bit paranoid!
At your best: You're confident, euphoric, and feel like you're on top of the world.
What people like about being around you: You're intense and overpowering.
What people dislike about being around you: You can be arrogant... and a bit of a jerk.
How addicted people get to you: Incredibly addictive. And hanging around with you isn't cheap!
What do you think?
I'm Like Heroin
Your Personality Is Like Heroin You're capable of the highest highs and the lowest lows. Addicted to feeling good, you'll do almost anything to avoid pain. People seek you out, even though you can be quite moody. They're hooked on you! At your best: You are euphoric, stress free, and ...
Amazing!
Hayling
Oh oh! Look out R, G and S! Good luck Ms H!!
Rx from Hell
So my Dr. has me on a new med for my thryoid. It's biggest side effect is bitchiness (actually I think it specifically says mood swings). Now my new pills coupled with my period starting has turned me into a complete and utter walking nuclear explosion. It's not pretty. There is a little vo...
What fun! Bet he had a great time!!
G is Preparing
100_0801, originally uploaded by Heathen Girl. Here is a shot of G right before his big band performance. Unfortunately right after they warmed up the kids shuffled around a little bit and he was sitting right behind one of the music stands so you could not see him well in the pictures I to...
Great photo Heathen! He looks so contemplative!
