I say enjoy! One of the great pleasures God gave us is good food. If you want to "diet", fine, but it's better to be disciplined and temperate in moderation (common sense) over a long period of time rather than going all out in some kind of ascetic ritual of self denial, followed by an all out binge. Eat a doughnut or two, but don't do it every day or every meal. All things in moderation.... but, no matter what, enjoy!
I love doughnuts! I'm a pediatric dentist and I will say sweets get a bad rap. Carbs that break down into sugars are probably worse for your teeth. The best is Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Especially when they are hot off the line! http://www.krispykreme.com
LinkedIn is fine, I have a minimal bio there and may do more with it--, but I really think having a vibrant blog is more informative to patients and prospective patients and more likely to be found by them. Twitter is good. Facebook can be a great source as well for those that already friend you. You are correct that most docs are hyperlocal-blogs, searchable CV's are not very targeted. Each should find their own way of becomming more visible to the online community. http://www.cyberdentist.blogspot.com
