SouleMama Sponsor ~ CLOUD9 FABRICS ~
*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Today's featured sponsor is Cloud9 Fabrics. In their words: "Cloud9 Fabrics is of the next generation of fabric companies. Co-owners, Michelle Engel Bencsko and Gina Pantastico, are work-at-home moms who are de...
There is something about just buying wool for no reason other than the fact that you find it beautiful, pleasing. On impulse I only ever buy 1 or 2 balls, so that's not too bad. I make either a fabulous (maybe boring to some) scarf or a gift, like a knitted dressed doll.
Mooching around a wool shop buying a little bit of "something" makes me feel really good.
Knitting habits
Over on Cornflower Books we have occasional posts on reading habits, so why not have some on knitting habits here? Let's start with this question: are you an impulse buyer of yarn, or are you very disciplined, buying only when you have a particular project in mind (one that you're r...
Wishing Steve all the very bestx
just a little while
{A little backyard quidditch!} Good morning! Just a quick note to let you know that I'll be taking a few days off. SoulePapa (also known as Steve) has been struggling for some time now with an injury that has finally landed him at home, off his feet and resting. We're a little uncertain as to ...

making a quilt with your child: a "me and my girl" tutorial
Aubry has been asking to make a quilt of her very own for a while. We decided to make this into a tutorial that you can find here. (You will also find it on my sidebar.) I let her do almost everything on this one, including picking out the fabric and sewing and pinning. The only step I did b...
I love the way you write. x
In Every Journey
[Photo taken on the South Island of New Zealand, March 2009] In every journey there will be days like I had yesterday, when I spent a lazy afternoon lying on the grass with four dear friends, two giggly babes, cupcakes, sunshine and gentle breezes. In every journey ideas will be born, goals ...
My favourite place is my dinning table, its the only place in our tiny home where we can all be together and share our day.
Our dogs by our feet, a meal shared, bread broken, all hearing, taking turn to talk, a cake normally. An old embroidered, thrifted, table cloth, thrifted dinner ware, garden or wild flowers, us together. It doesn't get much better. Its not a great dinning space, and technically its not even ours, but its our centre. Does that make sense?
Handmade Home: Projects, Giveaway, and More!
A few weeks ago I opened a special package in this very room. I knew it would be coming, an early copy of Amanda Soule's new book Handmade Home: Simple Ways to Repurpose Old Materials into New Family Treasures, but it's arrival still felt terribly exciting. I settled in with Emily, right on t...
happy birthday Steve
40!
Today, we've got some celebrating to do. Because this sweet, happy little boy? Today he's forty!! I met Steve just days after his 30th birthday (and I thought he was 'old' - ahem). He was full of adventures, tales of travels, and a sparkle in his blue eyes that told me his adventuring ha...
Ahh, she's beautiful. We have a choc lab, she chewed everything, did secret poo's in the living room, the biggest wee's you'd ever seen (always at the bottom of the stairs!), she still has bad breath, she pumps terribly after bones, she smells soooo doggie, she hogs the sofa and likes to shadow us constantly, she show's me up on dog walks by still not coming back when she's supposed to (even after 2 training courses!), she's never full.....but we'd never be without her. She's a huge part of the family and we adore her...even her bad breath. Thrilled for you guysXXX
Nellie!
Meet Nellie! Our 7 week old lab/great dane/who-knows-what-else rescue pup. She's been here for just a few days, but it already feels like she's been a part of our family forever. She is adored, doted on, and only slightly smothered in love. We're so glad she's here!
Oh save me one.
Hope you are all keeping well X
coffee break..
Rhiannon's been baking again..chocolate chip scones..just for something different! :) The recipe calls for currants with chocolate crosses piped on top, but instead she just added chocolate chips to the scone dough..they tasted just as good as they look..

SoulePapa Blogs :: Upon Arrival
Doors open, the air and the children move freely between inside and out. Unconscious, or unwilling to be bound by consciousness, their feet turned without slowing, powered by great motors of heart. All manner of objects were strewn about the yard in a post apocalyptic grid of childhood frenzy....
Very beautiful, very simple, just lovely x

Jodie you are shocking, from the security of your computer you sit in judgement. If you want to wave the child protection flag I suggest you walk around your local town and see the neglected children, they are in every village, town, every country. Step up and do some voluntary work, help children who are really being neglected. How sad are you to pass judgement on a mum, on her son’s birthday.
Shame on you.
It’s a "craft" blog. It’s focus in on feeling good, creating, empowering your children. I hear Amanda's message of balance.
What’s missing in your life?
An Art Party!
"Six" might be one of my favorite ages for birthday parties (remember the medieval party?). Six is such a great combination of imagination, innocence, and ability, I think - so great for doing fun things at parties. Ezra decided - oh, back in November - t...
Sending Ezra many, many, happy returns. Goodness he looks so happy and is growing up so quickly. Well done mum and dad XXX

broken wing
it's been a long week for Jem, with 3 days spent in hospital after breaking both bones in her left arm on Monday ..wish I had the x-rays to show, pretty awful with one bone going through muscle, making the realignment rather tricky..so an open repair was necessary and took 2 hours in (2 of ...

Here are some more pics from our east coast...
Here are some more pics from our east coast trip..the beautiful Apsley Waterhole in the Douglas Apsley National Park..just north of Bicheno. We usually don't manage to make it out there, because the beach is only a short walk from my parent's property but we'll certainly have to change that and...
I wish all fathers had the ability to see their children the way you do. You sound like a rock, an amazing father.
SoulePapa Blogs :: Through the Door
Since the day I realized I was going to be a dad for the first time...even before that, I was formulating ideas in my brain about how I would raise my children. Not how we would right all of the injustices perpetrated upon us in our childhood. Not how we'd eat organic or dismiss the TV. Cert...

Thank you for your honesty Amanda. Of course the sense of love and happiness is strong, but, I remember that feeling of panic that would rise without warning after my third child came. You sound like you have a wonderful supportive husband and children, I know you'll be fine, but thank you for being honest about the adjustment, lack of sleep and the bloody breading laundry, :o) x
how we're doing...this time
How We're Doing - I found this post recently - from right after Adelaide was born - and it made me laugh. Oh, Lucy...she stuck around for a while. I kind of miss her and her fabulous top knots. And this time? There is still some of that, even though I must say - the transition from three to ...
